  • This ride takes us to Corkscrew Pass on the way to Animas Forks. Some cool snow pockets along the way.

    Fun to see the trail ran from 550, AND to see the difference what two weeks made in the height of that snow. Stayed up near the top. We ran that on July 9th! Thanks for sharing what an amazing place to play!

      We spent a week in Ouray but most passes were still closed. I don't think Black Bear opened at all this year. Amazing place to play for sure. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

    nice video :) thank you. I did this trail back in July and I enjoyed it. I was surprised to see a CRV on the top of the trail.

      Thanks. Yep I have seen a quite a few stock vehicles on 4x4 roads. Always surprises me as well.

    As soon as I see the "Ragged Old Flag" on a red hood of the car I know it's gonna be good...very good!! Thank you a lot of showing such places that I can't reach to see by myself... huge excitement to me... always!!❤ Respect...👍💪🚙

    I always enjoy seeing the notification that you have posted another video. You always have interesting trails and drives, plus the video quality is great. There are no trails like this in the East, mostly woods or beaches. Thanks for posting. 👍

    I always enjoy your "no frills" productions (no music, no narration), and the camera angle/mount is perfect. I'll definitely be putting Corkscrew Pass on my to-do list. Will there be a Part 2 for this video, did you continue on down the other side of the pass?

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, probably 2 more. Corkscrew to California Pass and California Pass to Animas Forks. Engineer was still closed but I have older videos of that run on the channel.

    A great trail, thankyou for taking me along. I live in England, I've tried to follow your route on my DeLorme Atlas/Gazetteer for Colorado. I would appreciate more specific detail of the area you are travelling, I cannot find your route. Many thanks. Ps, what elevation do you climb to ?

    • @donm8011
      @donm8011  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not familiar with the DeLorme Atlas but if you have access to Google Maps, it shows all the trails quite well. Approx. 7.6 miles south of Ouray on highway 550 take county road 20 and 20a which is called Corkscrew Gulch Trail. If you see the Red Mountains, you're in the right area. Similar to the map at the beginning of the video. Elevation over the passes is 12,000 + most of the way. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

      @@donm8011 Thanks for your reply, I'm now 79 and have hiked , camped ( tent), and climbed extensively in the four corners since 1972.. When I started, my generation only had maps. I guess old habits die hard eh ?

      @@martinforrester8249 I understand. I'm 70 now and my wife refuses to use cell phones. I enjoy technology but it is overwhelming sometimes. Nothing wrong with being old school.

    At the end I'm sorry but did someone take a 5th gen CR-V up CORKSCREW?!?!

    • @donm8011
      @donm8011  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes. Totally doable if you pay attention and the road isn't terribly washed out. I am always surprised at the stock vehicles I have seen on these trails over the years..

      @donm8011 Thank You. I have to Take Grandma up to be with Grandpa. My wife has a pic of the Ouray 20 sign with cross. This was a perfect help for that. Thank You
