    How much weight.can it handle? I have a pair each of 10, 15, 25, 35, and four 45lb single bumpers and I'm wondering if this will work. I don't need wheels. Great video, btw!

      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it should work just fine. That’s what mine is holding and it has been rock solid for the last year.

    Hey man! I don't have access to the drill press/forstner bit you use in the project, would you have any alternative suggestions? I've got a 1.5" boring bit for my drill, just not sure that'd be accurate enough.
    Also great video! Much appreciated! 🤙

    I only have a circular saw that can cut from 0-56 degrees. Is it possible for me to use my circular saw instead of using a miter saw?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I would look into purchasing a digital angle finder to mark your angles. Then you follow the line you marked with the circular saw. It won’t be as clean as a mitre saw cut but it’ll work.

    Getting ready to build one this weekend. Only problem I’m having is reading the angles on the video. Sorry. I’m old and can’t make it out.

      No worries. I have a written version of this tutorial on my website: kaizendiygym.com/diy/weight-tree

    Where did you get 1.5” dowels? I checked both HD and Lowe’s but they don’t have them

      I get mine from a hardware store we have in the Midwest called Menards. If you don’t have one locally they also ship, so that could be an option. 2”, 1.75”, and 1.25” are also fine options for this project

    Thank you for this. I’m going to start building one today. I bought a power rack from Griffen Fitness, but I don’t like any of the other weight plate holder ideas

      That is awesome! Yeah I tried to do something different from what was already out there. Let me know how yours turns out.

    I made a "super" weight tree, attaching it to a dolly (rated with casters to hold adequate weight), encased with a garage shelving unit around the weight tree to create a rolling platform with a rubber top surface (for putting gym stuff....gloves, water bottle, towels, etc.). I plan on doing an upgrade build in the future replacing plastic garage shelving unit frame with stainless steel frame (welding). It's essentially a rolling counter top with a weight tree, LOL

    I really like how you keep your projects simple to construct. This makes it accessible for almost anyone to build but it also becomes a springboard for more sophisticated designs.
    I originally used wooden closet poles but found in time that they would wear down on the top from sliding plates over them, making the plates stick. Fortunately, because of the diameter, it was easy to sleeve them with 1 1/4” Black gas pipe secured with construction adhesive. The outside diameter of the pipe is 1 5/8”, making it small enough to easily slide an Olympic plate over but not so small that it dwarfs the hole.

    How do you cut 110 and 140 degrees with a circular saw?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d use a digital angle protractor to mark the angle. Once that is done use the circular saw to cut along the line you marked.

    What is the difference between a power rack and a power cage?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both terms are used interchangeably

      I know how you feel, prices have been crazy where I’m at too. I keep hearing news about prices dropping soon. I’m really looking forward to that! I’d love to see how your build turns out!

    It looks like kiln dried wood since it looks very clean and smooth. I almost went with the kiln dried whitewood but opted for douglas fir. Not sure why. Maybe because the KD wood selection was so knotty. As you know, the douglas fir is still damp at the store. Would it still hold up?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Douglas fir should be plenty strong enough. With it still being damp at the store, it may split or crack during the drying process if it dries out too fast. I would keep it indoors for a few days before working with it.

      @@KaizenDIYGym I realized I'm going to be asking it to hold a total of 455# with all the plates. There will four 45# plates per side on the bottom pegs along with a combination of 25s, 10s, 5s, & 2.5s. I'm wondering if the bottom pegs will even hold.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the wood dowels will hold but if you’re worried about it, you could do steel pipe instead. Look at the weight holders on my leg press (one of my recent videos) to see what I’m talking about.

    So I need 5k worth of wood working tools to build my $33 plate tree.

    • @KaizenDIYGym

      I see you’re a fan of hyperbole. Nope, the cuts can be done with a hand saw and miter box, holes can be drilled with a cheap cordless drill.
