Oh, I know that episode ! It was an extra chapter in the manga! Did they specifically make a law for that ? Because some another media did it already as well. Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, even the manga Detective Conan did it that when a group of art major college students make a hospital-theme haunted house for their semester exam. Or maybe, only anime that can't do that. Manga and game are still can.

+Leet 1337 as a big fan of Persona 3 there was never a scene like that. both Mitsuru and Yukari have never been able to handle ghost story's very well, but Mitsuru is very good at hiding her fear, but this was a bit much even for her, thus the freaking out.

Mitsuru's fear has more to do with granddaddy Kirijo being into human experimentation (Strega) and it's implied that she had her fair share of being prodded by doctors. (Or did she directly say it out loud? I don't remember...)
If you look at the area their is several dead people and also the bloody handprints on the walls signify they tried to escape the boss all through out the labaryinth
I haven't played much past this point (stupid distracting games D=) but man this boss really hints at a much darker turn in the story. At least this dungeon is over with now. Great job and happy new year!

You know, I beat this boss a couple days ago, and I just want to say I had more trouble with the nurses than the doctor himself, once I got rid of the nurses, the red one gave me the most trouble btw, the doctor went down in about 4-5 turns, and I didn't even have his weakness :/
I use the same party as you XD But instead of Shinji, I use Aigis, she can tank well. When the doctor use power charge, I usually use dekaja so his power back to normal. And poisoning enemies are the task of my main P3MC as an ailment inflictor n buff/debuffer
