The actress who plays Janet is absolutely, excruciatingly realistic. Lost track of the number of times I've come across managers exactly like her - her tone of voice, body language and demeanour is absolutely spot on. Couple that with amazing writing which captures the passive aggressiveness of that kind of corporate culture and you have a brilliant performance. Sue's interactions with her are also brilliant - the entire episode really captures the insincerity of how people like both of those characters interact at work.
I like how she mentioned complaints going to Head Office and Sue assumes it is the girls. Janet amazingly skips around it by not mentioning the complaints are about Sue.
Sometimes I literally question is this real life or not until Sue starts posing for the camera haha, this series is brilliant and I can't wait to see where it goes after it really takes off!
Ok…that conversation with area manager from corporate was so accurate, it was giving me anxiety!! Both actresses perfectly encapsulated that condescending, corporate, retail-manager speak! It gave me flashbacks to my year-end evaluations when I worked in retail 😅
Our regional manager came to my workplace today and she gave me Janet vibes and all I could think was I can’t wait to get home and watch this episode of charity shop Sue, it’s painfully accurate 😂
I actually flinched when I watched some of it. Janet is so realistic - that kind of passive aggressive, corporate manager. Sue's interactions with her are brilliant - the insincerity on both sides is so accurate
This was so accurate that I got annoyed as much as I laughed!!!!!! Been there so many times just perfect perfect writing and acting. Just sublime all the upper management coldness and phrases so corporate and emotionless just so good
The scene is so simple, a visit from a regional manager who's already decided to let the shop manager go while going through the motions of a pointless 'review'. But it's so vastly more than that. Janet is an extinction level event, a force of unstoppable, tyrannical, completely systematic defeat for Sue. She's so utterly, blandly invincible, like a horseman of the apocalypse of middle management...Sue doesn't stand a chance. Beautifully acted and written ('So I thought, 'let's go that extra mile and feed the bloody buggers, eh?' 'Well that is an intriguing initiative'). This episode one of the best things I've seen, The Office level brilliant.
David Brent would be the man for the job, to bring this to new gravitas. “If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain. Do you know which ‘philosopher’ said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a pair of tits.”
I have LOVED this series so much! It’s been a long time since I’ve ended up crying and laughing at a show that’s been too funny and this was it! Well done to all cast, crew and production involved. We all hope there is a new series after COVID-19.

@@rosiesummer2711 haha, yeah! So passive aggressive!
I was going to say *chef's kiss* but sure, your comment also conveys what I was saying.
T H so true!
So true
Sue's looks into the camera always kill me
Nice Gregory Horror pic!
Vera VS Sue is the most nail-biting fued since Bette Davis and Joan Crawford!
#teamvera
😂😂
#teamsue
Dragony Aunts w. Vera is hilarious 🤣
That's the gayest sentence in existence 😍😍😍
let's go that extra mile and feed the bloody buggers
😂😂
*Oh hello Vera, how are you? What a pleasure to see you it’s been an age*
Having worked in retail in the UK, the area manager interaction is scarily accurate, hard to believe it’s acting!
"S'CUSE ME DARLIN' WE'VE GOTTA HEAD MANAGER 'ER"....😂🤣😄😆
The way Janet undermines Sue by being friendly with Vera is so scarily accurate! Corporate politics at its finest
Sometimes I literally question is this real life or not until Sue starts posing for the camera haha, this series is brilliant and I can't wait to see where it goes after it really takes off!
is it real
No it’s called acting
@@rachelmayes298 The sass!
Sue's physical comedy just kills me. Obsessed w this show it's soooo good
Fucking hell... the actress who played Janet played her a bit too well... I feel like I’ve already met her in previous jobs 😂
This needs to be on tv
The amount of backhanded compliments and the utter contempt they hold for each other masked through extreme niceness. Office politics at its best lol
*_Was it mostly down to Marjorie?_*
Love how Sue's wearing her "manager's" jacket.
The writing and acting from everyone in this is excellent.
I just crack up at Sue's mask of repressed rage covered with her smiling laugh
sues squint is really goin that extra mile
Ok…that conversation with area manager from corporate was so accurate, it was giving me anxiety!! Both actresses perfectly encapsulated that condescending, corporate, retail-manager speak! It gave me flashbacks to my year-end evaluations when I worked in retail 😅
“I want us to have a moment together”.....Janet enters shop. “Get the soup out now. Go go.” 😂
Having worked in retail, the accuracy of all this gives me anxiety.
I was thinking the same
First of all Janet, I want to ask you *somethin vereh personal*
Literally same
Sue's expressions are priceless!! a masterclass in acting .
Janet is so accurate 'I'll be the judge of that' I died internally
Sue's face a 4:41 when Janet said that she could give her a call omg
I'm getting dangerously close to the end of this series after rewatching for lockdown 3... We need another one, I'm literally begging , laydeh
Haha Sue’s face in disgust when Janet said she’d call Vera 🤣🤣🤣
Love it how when Janet walked through the door sues vibe changed
THIS SERIES IS GENIUS AND THE ACTORS ARE FANTASTIC
HOWEVER MY HEART BELONGS TO SUE
WE LOVE YOU, SUE
Ive seen this about a million times and it still gets me. Absolute comedy genius!
Sues face when Janet tells Vera she’s gonna give her a call gets me ever single time
one of my favorite parts is Sue saying they raised 20pounds when they actually raised 35.
I noticed that too!
15 quid to take the gals to the pub, dahlen
Now *how was Duncan’s **_party_* ?
Our regional manager came to my workplace today and she gave me Janet vibes and all I could think was I can’t wait to get home and watch this episode of charity shop Sue, it’s painfully accurate 😂
Did she ensure that everyone at Head Office knows about the initiative?
I forgot to ring it through the bloody till!
It's always an eye opening experience visiting here.
I’m amazed at the accuracy of the acting and writing
"Ermmm, laydeys, if you need any support come and get me. Don't be a stranger"
😂🤣😂
I love how sue looks at the camera all the time with a side eye.
I cant
4:35 - 4:45, look at those facial expressions! She's so jealous that the 2 of them are getting along 😅
I'm lovin this series I've been bingeing it all day, reminds me of the office
Yes, definitely.
NOOOO!! this can’t be happening not after all the effort and commitment sue has put into second chances
sorry Ricky...this is BETTER than The Office.
Anything was better than that shite
@@bg4928 was too much for you to understand B G…….awww bless.
@@clamstermcwinkle2514 Please...I've worked in a law firm since 2008....I get offices....
Every actor in this is pitch perfect! Janet you're a gem! so amazing....big love from brooklyn
Sue, your maniacal laugh is legit the theme tune to my life.
‘Well that’s it you’ve solved it... let’s get rid of those girls’ 😏
Sue needs her own ASMR channel
How many people know a Janet?
The Actors Workshop Nottingham yes lol!
I actually flinched when I watched some of it. Janet is so realistic - that kind of passive aggressive, corporate manager. Sue's interactions with her are brilliant - the insincerity on both sides is so accurate
yes- everybody’s manager everywhere
The looks to the camera from Sue are GOLD
The constant looking at the camera kills me 😂
Female David Brent, I'm impressed
YESSSSS
Sue!!!! Janet obviously can’t see a good thing when it’s staring her right in the face - I’m livid!!
Sue reminds me of a certain manager at a charity shop I used to volunteer at.
This was so accurate that I got annoyed as much as I laughed!!!!!! Been there so many times just perfect perfect writing and acting. Just sublime all the upper management coldness and phrases so corporate and emotionless just so good
The Jennifer Saunders energy is real 💖
The passive aggression in this episode is off the scale!
"Thanks for bringing that to my attention because I forgot to run it through the till" 🤣🤣🤣
Incredible acting and incredible writing!!!!!!!!!! X
The looks to the camera are sooooooooo good 😂😂😂😂
This is hilarious! Deserves so much more appreciation.. hoping for a season 2!
The noise Janet makes at 5:20 🙈🤣
Every single second of this episode is genius.
4:11 the envious glare 🤣🤣
The idea of Sue sitting down writing a book is so funny. She’s so full of s’it.😆
Well she did write the manager handbook that she gave to kersh.
She's talented in so many areas!
Has anyone noticed that Sue always wears a striped top?
Wow Kersh's impression was on point
It’s the high pitch voice after basically every sentence from Janet for me
Sue's reaction is priceless.

"Janet is an extinction level event" 💀
I'm from Nottingham and I don't know how I've never seen this be filmed before! It's brilliant 🤣❤
Living for Sues very quick glance at Janet after she says she wouldn't dream of taking the artwork home 🤣🤣 #fkingfumingLadeh
hahah Sue's face to camera on bad news hahaha
This feels like such a human resources meeting.
4:24 bloody Marge 😒🤣
‘Crazeee, she’s crazeee’
Sue getting in on the convo about Marjory ‘she’s crazy’
The way Sue says “Yeah” at 08:49 is scarily toddler-like!
What an awkward moment 😂
This show is everything and more
The way she looks all shifty into the camera 😩😂😂
She reminds me so much of my first area manager takes me back to my charity shop days 😂😂
I absolutely love this!! Should be Channel 4 series
David Brent would be the man for the job, to bring this to new gravitas. “If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain. Do you know which ‘philosopher’ said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a pair of tits.”

I’m late to the party but wow this actress is fantastic xxx
This is perfectly cast! ❤️
The way Sue threw those girls under the bus 😅
I need to see more of this 😂😭😂😭
Janet is 'sincere insincerity' personified.
Does anyone know if this series will continue? I'm obsessed with it
Sues face 😂😂😂
