Yes I am here because or Rent-A-Pal. I have to say something about this does draw you in. This actors did a fine job actually. What an odd idea, but I see why it landed in the 1980's. It should re-emerge. It would be a hit during covid time.

I just listened to Ben Hollis on 97.3 The Fan here in San Diego. Nice guy! Sounds like he's the neighbor you'd invite over for a beer. Or a milkshake. The hosts asked him how many of these VHS tapes he thinks he sold and said, "I don't know. 20? Maybe 100." 😂 Silly guy! The 80s master of performance art, for sure!

This is the best video I've ever seen.
I'm genuinely surprised this didnt turn slowly sinister throughout the video only to then end with him stabbing you, or for the camera to pan to the other chair and show a gagged or dead person. I would've bet money on that fact - and the fact its so oddly sinister and weird without trying to be makes it all the better. What a captivating piece of art.

All the people bashing this should take a step back and realize this guy used dead pan humor to sell a tape that was not supposed to be taken seriously. This video has had such a cult following that the Rocky Horror Picture Show crowd could not touch it in the sense of love and people defending this.
Think about it, had Andy Kaufman done this as a good we'd all be applauding him for another character (or just building on his erratic persona). This gentleman, not sure what he did afterwards, maybe tried more in this vein and didn't catch on or he moved on to other things (if he was doing the avant guard (sp?) Style of comedy it had pretty much petered out in the late 80's).
Be happy he made this, or frightened, whatever floats your boat. LOL
