Hooligan J Exactly. Every time I'm a the gym I try my best to frustrate the hell out of the guy I'm defending. I can get my offense as well but defensively I put all my Gary Payton & Scottie Pippen film study to the test 110% of the way.
I havr grown to appreciate and love lock down defense highlights, just as much as offense! I love gritty shut down defense!!! DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
JAGM I Olay defense without using my hands and in the best in the county, I only use hands for bigger players(have to be bigger and faster and actually be able to score for me to play that way) I say all this to say When Beverley sticks his arm across your body for steal, your not suppose to stop and let hum reach. Your suppose to run through his arms and kinda through your shoulders back when you make contact. He will be called for reach in foul everytime
His game reminds me of the old school defense that was necessary to play in the NBA in the 80s and 90s. Back when it was basically no blood no foul, can you imagine if you were allowed to hand check like in them days?! this dude would be even more of a savage on the defensive end.
Same here. I remember when this type of play got a lot more respect and admiration. I would have loved to see a lot of the younger fans bashing the previous eras go silent with shock watching Payton in his prime guard S. Curry with hand checking for a couple of games and see if he's still shooting those stellar shooting percentages. No doubt he's a superb talent and one of the best shooters ever, but the rules of today's game are practically custom made for him. Guys like Bird and R. Miller shot lower percentages but were also getting mauled by some of the all-time best defenders compared to the looked-at-me-wrong fouls of today.
Can we get another pat bev video? Plz?? I’ve been watching your channel for a few years and it’s definitely helped me pay more attention to detail and learn a ton about the game. Keep up the great work!
He and Dellavadova are my favorite players. Proof you dont have to be the tallest or have the best shot to be an effective basketball player. The most important thing is the ability to always be at the right place at the right time
How many shots were available next to Harden? I think he's an UFA next year and could go anywhere. A lot of teams could benefit from having him on the team.
Hey man, I love these lockdown videos. I've been waiting a long time for somebody to do a series on just on-ball defense and defensive plays. I assume the Defensive Dynamo vid for Anthony Davis is coming at some point (steals and blocks and shot alterations). You could also do a Ravenous Rebounder or Rugged Rim Protector vid for DeAndre Jordan. Forgive me if it's already been done.
First, much appreciated! Second, not a worry at all. Third, of course, the Anthony Davis will be coming at some point. It's just a matter of getting stuff together and which one to focus on (his perimeter defense is something I'd really like to feature on its own, but time will tell if there I can get enough together for that). As for the DeAndre thing, I might do one for his rebounding (because I believe he's a slightly overrated defender anyway), but that's probably the hardest thing to get clips together for so you probably won't see DJ on my channel for quite a while.
Evin Gualberto Awesome. And I agree that DJ is overrated, and I think Hassan Whiteside is as well. Their gaudy reb/block numbers don't really translate into the team being much better on D while they're on the floor, because they're both undisciplined help defenders.
As a very short person who can easily be scored on because of my lack of height, I always try to play like him on defense. If someone like him were to guard me I would probably throw a temper tantrum because of how relentless and pesky he is even though he's not that tall. Whenever I defend like him I allow way less points than I should because of how I'm always in the player's face and I never give up if he blows by me. In fact people have gotten mad at me and accused me of committing hard fouls! It creates nightmares for the offense and helps way more than it looks like.
I've noticed with him and bradley they use their stance as a threat to get that little retreat dribble and as soon as they see that slow retreat dribble where most players think they're safe they time it and take it away.
HyperSole yup he always gave curry fits. I like this guy one of the most underrated players in the league. I'm a Dubs fan but I have to give props to Beverly. He plays with such passion.
It's the perfect strategy against that team. The ball practically never leaves his hands on offense, so just send your lockdown perimeter defender there.
I almost forgot how much he abused holladay in this one game. it was truly one of the most dominant defenses on a quality guard i had seen before. And to think that holladay ended up putting the clamps on Lillard in the playoffs this year while getting buckets on him too, the guy that torched beverly in the playoffs.
When i play basketball people always compare me to patrick beverly because of my defense But im not that good on offence i just play defense and try to lock people down which i succed in
Its not that beverley is a douchebag or whatever people may think. What is the case is that basketball today is mad soft and people cry over everything. Whenever I play physical defense on someone they cry foul.
Same here. 10/10, especially at the gym, they cry foul even if they throw a few elbows at you when trying to drive on you but can't. I love it personally; means we're doing something right.
I love the way this guy plays he never gives up
I say "if you ain't cheating, you ain't tryin'"
Fauzan Ridwan ???
abrahamTidy bOytwobrawls you know the vocal presence he has on opposing players right

thank you for this video. i love defense
Most underrated facet in basketball today. I pride myself in playing solid defense whenever I'm out there on the court.
+The Dream Merchant same offensive players think they nice til you put the PRESSURE ON EM

His style is old school. Love it.
One of my favorite players!! I love the way he competes
Same my dude
THIS is why Beverly is a great defender and not just a cheap player...okc fans, smh
***** okay.
***** lies
He doesn't care if you don't respect him. He's in the league and you ain't.
BaoZhai Zhang good luck doing that before you realize you don't have the ball on your hand anymore 😂
Future AMV lol exactly
He's one of the most underrated defenders in the league. Without Pat, HOU couldn't do a thing around the perimeter.
I wouldn’t say underrated
@@bobbyshmurdashat205 replying 6 years later is different
I am a lockdown defender and can say, Patrick Beverley is my idol for my style of play.

Screw offense. Whenever I go to the gym and play ball, I try to be like Pat and lockdown dudes lmao
+Dyllan Foster That's exactly how I play. It's funny to watch guys get frustrated when you play some good defense on them lol
+Dyllan Foster ur comment made my day nigga 😂😂😂😭😭
haaaan that's how I be lol
Same bro
Exactly I don't care for offense that much just defence
haha I love how fucking wild he is. My favorite offensive player is Derrick Rose and my favorite defensive player is Pat Beverly
I wish he were on the Bulls. They really needed a defensive minded point guard off the bench.
I love dis man defense bruh
the last play is absolutely magnificent!
That 2nd LeBron sequence following the Norris Cole block was golden. I'm glad he's locked in here in Houston.
The Dream Merchant Not anymore
Who here after watching yesterday?
This why Beverley will always have a spot on a team
Arguably, the best perimeter defender in the NBA who doesn't get enough recognition!!!
more point guard defense videos... i love it
Two guys who bring it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Pat Bev vs. Russ West
such a great compliment to Harden in the guard positions
Someone is holding the L2 and spamming the right stick intensively.
lol
Hahahaha
😂😂😂
awesome guy with good game reading, quick hands and play all his heart out
Pat Bev modern day GP like defender, dude is a menace and one of my fav players
pure hustle, effort, and tenacity and great tactician too
He is amazing defender

Seeing Patrick Beverly and Rodney brewer on the same team... tears... #WPS

This man WANTS the ball
a 90s type of player. i like this dude.
imagine if Patrick Beverly had a more consistent shot that would be awesome to see.his defense though its incredible it's awesome
He does have a great three point shot but his field goal percentage sucks.
How many shots were available next to Harden? I think he's an UFA next year and could go anywhere. A lot of teams could benefit from having him on the team.
Jrue kept getting his ass strapped up😂
I miss him on the rockets so much 😢
The fact most people hate Bev; makes me love him even more💯🤣😈....We see ya C(one)P3
The best defender of point guards in the league.
I think that's the most vital position to defend. Gary Payton certainly thrived at shutting PGs down.
pat we miss u in houston
Kawhi, beverly and paul george clamp defense for clippers
watch out guys! :) Its goin to be a defensive festival! :)
Could use a bigger center though
Michael John Castro AD, playoff bron, Danny green and Avery Bradley lock them down
@@danhantheman and gonna break clips' defense

Am I the only one who literally absolutely loves Daddy Pat/Patman
Tenacious defender! I love it!
one of the best of his KIND!!! :) DOUG Christie would be proud! :)
This is what the Lakers need right now honestly.
Hey, you got your wish. How you feelin now?

That's what they said about Durant and Cousins (plus Davis).

Nobody in the NBA has the tenacity level of Pet Beverly

If he could be half the defender bev is omg he would be even more amazing
BlackGamingStudent curry is absolutely awful on defense

Patrick Beverley is a playmaking defender, he has Defensive Stopper on Hall of Fame
reminds me of Gary Payton
pat beverley for dpoy !

My man patty be strapping everybody up!!!!
Beverly is a great player and good defense and he’s has a award
finally, a player that takes pride in his fuckin defense.
1 of my favorite players n the league
I love watching Beverly play D against Westbrick and frustrate the shit out of him! 😆

Please please do one on Luc Mbah A moute, he is one of the absolute best. Very underrated

Kawhi, PG and Beverley, OMG, LOCKDOWN
Defence wins games not offence.
offense wins games, defense wins championships
My Dallas Mavs need this rugged edgy defender...bad boys make the sport world go around 🎯🎯💯💯💯
I’ll take defence over offence any day. What a gritty player, I love it!
Beverley is suck a pest of a defender! love it!
as a Houston rockets fan I'm so dissapointed we traded Bev, absolutely monster
A great defender mass heart
My idol
Mr. #94 Feet
Fuck it beverly is so much better than dreymond green defensively and even offensively..beverly is underrated
PB defense should be 100 on Live & 2K he's a A1 Defender
In my opinion the perfect point guard to play along James harden. What harden lacks on defense is made up for and vise versa for pats offense.
He's built different
This is why he made the first team all defense this year
he reminds me of rodman.
Are we just gonna pretend that pat bev didn’t die @ 4:24
