I’ve always been drawn to the visual beauty of the 28 series but preferred the beautiful sounding moody tone of the 18 series. Fun video Jarvis!
YES YOU CAN SEE I WAS JUST ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT OF IT...INTO THE FLOW...I LOVE THE D18...ITS SOMETHING UNIQUE IN THE TONE PLUS THAT ORGANIC TONE NOT FOUND ON ROSEWOOD MARTIN..WHICH MAKES IT VERY SPECIAL
The D28 and D18 are both braced forward but the 28 is NOT scalloped. The thickness of the braces are also different. Thank you for the sound comparison. I feel your video does a good job representing the tonal differences in these two fabulous guitars. BUY BOTH.
Correct, the D28 is Non scalloped which makes a big difference. The brace size however are both the same on the D18 and D28...5/16". The D35 is 1/4" bracing. Really no wrong choice both are great guitars.
Both are wonderful sounding. If you don't own a rosewood guitar, the D28 would be the choice for me.
For D18 model, it got the Reimagined specs starting in 2012 the others and promotion of "Reimagined Series" for 2018.
I just got my hd28e retro today. WOW!!!!!! It sings!!!any fingerstyle songs sound good, especially your composition. Personally, I hear more lows/mids and warmness in the d18, but the d28 expresses the highs along with the lows and mids.

You should compare a D18 with a HD28. Both braced the same. Also they come from Martin with 13s and it makes a HUGE difference!
the HD28 my love is scalloped bracing and the D28 and D18 are non scalloped

!? Both are good guitars but I love the woody organic tone of the d18

Also, the difference between 1.9kg and 1.87kg is only 30 grams not 300. I bring this up because weight is something I look at when purchasing an guitar. Did you weigh them yourself? Can you feel the difference in the two?

I am considering D28, D18 or Gibson J45.
