I lied! The 2023 GR Corolla Morizo is the best car Toyota makes!

- While at @UtahMotorsportsCampus to drive the Circuit Edition version of the 2023 @TOYOTAGAZOORacingJPchannel Corolla, MotoMan also drove the limited to 200 Morizo edition of the 2023 @toyotausa GR Corolla. On paper, there are a number of very small changes between the GR Corolla Circuit Edition and @TOYOTAglobal GR Corolla Morizo, but once out on the track, those all add up to a more than expected rubber meets the road delta between the two!

I agree with you on the color, Toyota should have a unique color for the Morizo. They should come out with a better color than just different shades of Gray and White. A car like the Morizo should have a special color.

Core without the differentials would be very good to know how it handles against the Circuit.
Less locking of wheels is it smoother (not faster) on curves.
Can you feather the throttle to make body movement changes?
How is the body roll?
Do the tires chirp or squeal, more or less, without LSD's? Is there less tire wear ?
It there torque steer when you smash the throttle or balanced?
Heck, Does it weight less? MPG?
As a daily driver but track and AutoX on weekends, is it good?

Would be interesting to see what motoman thinks of the GR Yaris, if he ever got a chance to drive one. Lets face it, creating a road going rally homologation spec car is such a rare event in motoring. Last one before the Yaris was what 20 years ago with the Subaru WRX.
As great as the GR Corolla and its limited edition variant is, it isnt a rally homologation spec GR Yaris.

6:50 Motomachi! All their best stuff is made in that plant. Their F1 stuff, the carbon, the LFA, my LC and the GR products. Id die and go to heaven getting a tour of that place.

The GR Corolla is already a highly sought after limited edition hot hatch. The Morizo is on another level performance-wise, and collectability! With how few there will be, I imagine there will be owners who will keep it stored away as a garage queen and not see a second in its natural habitat, on a track. And that's a damn shame.
BTW, I have a deposit down for a Core Edition in Supersonic Red w/ Perf & Tech pkgs!!! Can't wait!!! A performance tune and stickier tires, and the Core Edition is on par with a Morizo, for sure.
The red is the best color!
When these were first announced a few months back I ran to my local Toyota dealer to hook me up, she just laughed and told me to get in line!. Their phones had been ringing nonstop. Probably a good thing I couldn't order one, my wife would've hurt me

10:16 I absolutely agree. Why white and grey? Ill tell you why. The boys at Toyota think its cool. And they are right. Its fine. BUT This is a special car. Id give it two new wild colors to choose from each model year ditching the previous two while keeping white and grey all through production. Add to that id do a color matching interior option which would do color matched seat belts and interior trim bits. All simple things to do. They have the paint facilities in mass at Motomachi. There is absolutely no reason for them not to be capable of this.

200 cars ? Do they have a plaque somewhere on the car showing which number it is?
There is a quick shot in the episode showing the plaque on a pre-production model.
Does it remember the center diff selection if you turn off the car?
Had VERY limited time with each car so can't say for certain.

Now that is a proper hot hatch. I wish Toyota was making more than 200 of these. That’s an obscenely low number for a Corolla. Even Porsche would produce more bespoke special edition 911’s than this. This feels like a supply chain issue that’s being marketed as a limited production run vehicle to generate high demand and inflated prices. It’s going to work obviously as even I would gladly pay MSRP for this car tomorrow if I could get an allocation. Sadly, I know I won’t at least for 2023. Hopefully 2024 and beyond, the Morizo edition is either brought back, or this edition becomes the new Circuit Edition.
I am guessing bits of the Morizo - sans the ditched back seat - will show up in subsequent years.

Since 95% will have it parked-up for bragging rights and/or as an investment...It's a complete waste of time. Given, GR86 is flawed (which was priced right), Toyota's enthusiast need deep pockets (especially if all you have is Canadian monopoly money).
I can afford to buy this car but won't. I commented that I can't bring myself to give some fat fu.ck sitting in a chair a 10k+ mark up. That cares about no one but himself and takes advantage of every poor soul that walks into his dealership.

It's crazy that Toyota would put 110% effort in the GR Corolla by doing everything in-house meanwhile with the Supra which is probably their most iconic sports car they just hand it over to BMW.

practical is only 10 percent of Toyota auto manufacturing...lol. The company is forces to limit the TOYS it produces because American youth spirited drivers have a hard time obeying the law of the land. This is also applicable to all Japanese builds. Let's be honest.

I agree that Toyota should have some guts and throw out a totally original color. I am absolutely bored with greys today. And with the battleship greys as well. Why do manufacturers follow others so much? No one original.
Sadly, it's the dealers that are to blame. They are the ones ordering the vast majority of cars - mainly for stock. As such, they order 'safe' colors that will offend no one so they can sell them on price if need be.

Toyota is an appalling car company because they know how to build cars properly.
Yes this is all great if you know how to drive, which 99.999% of people don't. I can tear apart the new Corolla GR in 30 seconds. It is an absolute waste of a platform. It should have been a 2 door hatch, should have had a 300hp+ 4 cylinder, and most importantly the car should have introduced something new to the market (ie. oem anti-lag / wasted spark ability or a suspension system that can alter height by 6-8 inches with the push of a button). And that's just me taking 2 seconds to spit ball, come on Toyota, it's 2023 and you are still trying to compete with Ford who beats you to the punch every single time.
