Grew up with Ninja Storm, SPD, Dino Thunder, and some Jungle Fury Imo it was the perfect era to watch power rangers. A lot of great character moments and valuable lessons with topics such as: social class, discrimination, prejudice, morality, past mistakes, death, grief, trauma, trust issues, depression, PTSD, genocide, loss, racism, meaning of justice etc.
SPD is a fantastic season. And SPD might have the best powered down costumes ever. Jungle Fury has some nice ones but look at those sleek SPD uniforms.

I still remember jumping up and down telling my mom about it, and how cool it was to see a black guy start as the red ranger, not just be filling in for someone else. And sky looked like what I thought a red ranger should look like, so it was so different to see him as a blue ranger.
I’ve always had a theory that SPD and RPM actually take place in the SAME time, but in different timelines. SPD (eventually leading into Time Force in the main timeline) is the timeline where Dr. K was able to use Venjix to destroy Alphabet Soup and escape, probably even helping to CREATE SPD, whereas the RPM timeline is the “Bad Ending” where she fails to contain Venjix, and it gains sentience to conquer the planet.
Sky's answer to Kruger's question at the beginning of the series and at the end are indeed a great example of character growth: I see as he learned that his teammates are his equals, something a leader should understand. Heck if you watched Xiaolin Showdown I say that's why Raimundo became leader over Omi.
Yes! That's one of the most amazing things about the conclusion of Xiaolin Showdown. But I feel like it wasn't just because Raimundo felt his peers were equals, but also because he learned from his failures.
I loved this season's concept of Ranger progression. I love that Sky eventually became Red Ranger and the Green ranger eventually becomes red in the next season's teamup
Bucky Barnes I’m just annoyed that Bridge is the last person on the team I’d see as being leader. Z relies on others a lot, but she cares about others and could work really well. Sid is great at dealing with people and would be an excellent leader... eventually, as she has a lot of character flaws she has to work through. Bridge just can’t demand respect, he’s too goofy.
Eugenideddis I think it was based on ranking. Bridge was technically second in command of B squad. When the leader is promoted or resigns, second in command takes his place. Personally, I think his ability to think things through would make him a better leader than most.
Allyn R. It was, I just really can’t see Bridge making quick decisions a Red Ranger would need to. He’d be a good mentor, where he’d have time to consider things, but when it comes to in the moment things, well in “Once a Ranger” he fights the footsoldiers by doing flips on a box (which only served to distract them)
For as much as I love Bridge, I do agree that quick paced thinking probably wouldn't suit him that well. For as much as I don't favor Syd, she might actually be better in that specific role, if that's what you want from the leader, lol. If it were me, I'd have given Bridge the Commander role. With time, he might be better in that kind of slower paced leadership role versus Red Ranger on the spot fieldwork.
I personally love the idea of the Rangers being in the public eye. It allows for potential storylines about if what they’re doing is actually benefiting the people. It adds an extra layer to the story that doesn’t exist if they were just superheroes running around saving the city incognito. I also like it when ranger teams are adults and dealing with real world problems to an extent. The idea of evil Rangers have forever fascinated me since the psycho rangers. I mean evil by choice. It shows that power can corrupt even some of the best. I’ve never been of the brainwashing aspect to cresting evil Rangers. Feels cheap. This is definitely my sixth favorite ranger series. Can’t wait to see part 2 of this vid

d1chosen973 I loved RPM partly because of that reason. It was as grounded as a Power Rangers series can get which is a theme for my top 6 ranger series and why I love Go Busters so much from the Sentai side.
To this day, Krueger is my favorite Ranger in the series. He's stern and strict, but also extremely kind and open-minded. He'll administer tough love were he deems necessary, but never to the point of cruelty. He truly wants his team to be the best people they can be, both in and out of SPD, and works to help cultivate them in genuinely meaningful ways, without resorting to generic platitudes or handing out power ups like they were going on sale like Ji, Gosei, and Kanoi had a habit of doing a lot of the time.
Kruger is one of my favorite mentors mainly because he's proactive when he needs to be, but not going as far as being just an Instant win button for the team. Not to mention he's like the badass lovechild of Saijin Komamura, and Mcgruff the Crime dog!
This season has my favorite “little kid” in it, Sam, because he goes on to become a ranger, and I just the idea of him taking on the role of those who inspired him.
I have high respect for this show. Always did when I was kid. I watched it recently now(I’m 16 btw) still loved it and I know why I loved it the first time. Jack was probably one of the best leaders I’ve seen. How much he grew. And how sky changed from an arrogant, sexist guy to a truly good leader and my man bridge was the best part of this show for me. One of my favs.
My favourite season hands down mainly because of the character work. Jack started out as a more or less lazy and easygoing person, helping people in small ways, but joining spd helps broaden his perspective even realizing at the end that he can do even more than fighting aliens. Sky is a seemingly idealistic ranger at first, but his main Achilles heel is often his pride. But when he puts his ego aside for the sake of a mission, and eventually his tram, he rises to the occasion as a capable blue and eventually red ranger. And dont even get me started on Cruger's heartbreaking backstory or Bridge's eccentric yet effective style. This season is STELLAR, and a shining example of what power rangers could be
what i really liked about grumm was that he was more willing to put himself in the fight (like in his atv fight against shadow ranger). lots of villains like zedd just sit on their throne and throw temper tantrums when the rangers win. the bad thing to point out was that grumm was technically an underling. i think producers have stated that omni was manipulating grumm and grumm did explicitly state that there was only one thing he fears (omni). wouldve been nice to see grumm fight the rangers more times than just the finale and the atv fight but omni didnt allow it (calling his hatred for the shadow ranger "petty")
I had a shadow ranger toy when I was younger, and I always thought it looked cool and made a lot of story for it. I never knew he has shadow ranger until I watched SPD and loved him even more.

Haha, making up stories was the best part! Mine inevitably had a wise old master(A bionicle for some reason, lol) getting betrayed by Ninja Tommy and it was up to Carter, Spiderman, and Green Centurian, which for some reason exists in the toy line, to save the day with the help of the Time Flyers! I think I still have a Lunar Wolf toy that can transform between wolf Zord and Ranger form, like of like a Beast Wars toy, if any of you are old enough to remember that show, lol.
Skye is the best kind of second in command. He’s completely by the book, so he’s always there to call out the leader whenever he strays too far. For similar example, see Spock’s relationship with Kirk.
The Spock comparison is a great one! I didn't even think about that until you brought it up. But it's for that reason that I personally end up liking character like Sky, like Spock, like Kai, even Cam early on, who can fill that necessary role of "Focus Coach" you could say, lol.
And he has probably the biggest building arc because he does get promoted to Red Ranger at the end of the series when he's asked the same question from the beginning. His answer is the polar opposite of what he answered with in the start of the series.

*internal screaming* I can't tell you how much I LOVE S.P.D the stories, the arcs, the environment, the characters! My most fave from this series was Commander Cruger, he was an amazing mentor, practically father figure when needed, and a friend someone could trust.
Why don't the new seasons have the balls to put this much effort into making an organic story? Are they afraid that playing on the audience's emotions would hurt their reviews?

SPD is honestly one of my favorite seasons in the franchise, I loved the concepts of the season and the characters, mainly the B-Squad Rangers, Cruger, Boom and of course Kat
Imagine a story with elements from this season. A world much like this one with a fighting force (Space Force) that incorporates the character development found in SPD. They could have seriously made a series on SPD alone with how much potential was in there. The fact there's other squads, the character building itself, and the social environment.
SPD introduced me to Power Rangers and even the mecha genre as well. It brought me to literally drawing box robots on my school books. The opening's also top notch and I'd sometimes take time off to memorize the poses after the rangers fully suit up.
Thank you for this review. Looking forward to part 2. SPD is a good season. The rangers and supporting characters felt real and relatable. I like how the world is set up yet distinguishes itself with the aliens being on Earth. The class dynamics, the feeling of inferiority, and proving yourself above what someone assigns you to really help this season stand out. In terms of mentors Kruger tops the list because he has backstory, fights alongside the rangers when he can, and sees potential in others. He is not OP but you can see why he is in charge. I wish more seasons had this dynamic with the characters because whoever wrote this season deserves high praise. Not every character stands out but there's not really a character I say got shafted in terms of personality or backstory per say in my opinion. Also no love triangle/romantic issues BS holding the story down unless my memory is fuzzy.
I think your memory is just fine, because I don't think this season even hinted at any romantic attractions. There was perhaps a moment between Jack and Syd when Syd offered to share birthdays, but other than that, definitely BS free on that end! Although I think the only love triangle in PR happened briefly with Zhane, Andros, and Ashley, unless I'm the one going fuzzy. But I think the romance they use in that season generally speaking, made for some funny moments. I will never forget when Zhane high tailed it outta there once a monster was beaten to make his date with Astronema, lol, he's a legend for that.
(Bad green ranger coming) I wonder what will happen if Andros know that Zhane have been dating his sister (imagine if that was after the reveal) Zhane, Andros, and Ashley Nah Zhane is a smooth operator Ashley is going for Andros
I love the blueprint for SPD and RPM. It really should be used in every single season moving forward in the franchise if they decide to continue with power rangers.
The Perspective episode alone makes me love this show so much. It has such great dialogue, and the characters feel like people. And genuinely the most hilarious of all other series. "Jack is so brave." "Name one thing I fabricated." "Bridge, bridge, bridge, bridge, bridge." "Okay name another." "Zee, zee, zee, zee, zee." "I hope I make this look good, so Syd is impressed." "5,7,8... Oh wait, did I miss oneI. 1,2" Their expressions while watching their footage.
This made me smile. It took me back, I’d have to say spd is my favourite for nostalgic purposes so going back and understanding it as an adult makes it that much more special. Definitely gonna go back and watch the series.
i really like how it ended, we see sky getting the red ranger position that he first strived to achieve in the very beginning as much as i like the police drama in dekaranger, i love delta ranger adaptation's writing an original take on SPD and not just americanize an element from super sentai counterpart
Still feel like this show had the best characters of any season. At least to me. Maybe I am biased because of this was the first Season of Power Rangers I watched. But Jack, Sky, Cruger's storylines were absolutely perfect. Jack leaving because he never really wanted to do it, and always wanted a life outside, just was perfect. Cruger not being shown as perfect. Sky learning to respect his teammates, accepting Jack as his leader, and finally becoming the Red Ranger. Just, love man.
Not really biased. I watched this season recently first time as an adult, and I love it. Especially Jack and Doggie were great characters. Jack because of his character development (becoming a leader he wasn't at the beginning) and Doggie was just a perfect mentor. Smart, strong warrior himself, strict but knew when to go easy and could search for talents in his proteges (he knew from the beginning that Jack has potential to be a leader, know that Sky could be a leader but not now, that he needs more humility to be a Red Ranger, so he didn't make him one at the beginning but later, when he himself admitted that colors don't matter) and actually taught Rangers how to be better fighters and people (like when he gave Jack a fake Shadow Saber just to show him that the sword does not win battles, but the Ranger himself). Tommy Oliver from "Dino Thunder" was ok, but he felt more like an older brother, than mentor, while Doggie was a real mentor.

"For some, SPD is at least their favorite in the franchise." Amen! I thought Dino Thunder was the bee's knees before, but SPD was much better strength for strength. An awesome theme song, interesting setting, compelling characters with believable arcs, spectacular action, and worthwhile morals I wish the franchise would bring up once more. About the only really bad thing about this season is the episode titles, but plenty of other seasons have this same problem, so it's not exactly world-breaking in my book.
I think the fact that the aliens lived with the humans in 2025 was a consequence of the end of Mystic Force, when Tobby unites the humans to the forest beings to help the Rangers. I believe this helped humans see these beings not exactly as a threat and became more receptive to it over time, which made it possible for SPD events
@@legend8665 but things are falling apart now, 2025 is near and there are no aliens living on earth in current seasons. I would say retcon spd to 2225(no way the franchise will survive till then) so they dont have to worry about this
And they counted down too, lol. Although technically he took down more than 100 footage wise, at least, I think that's the counter the marathon watchers got a few months back.
One of my favorite episode is the Sid and Jack one where is Sid's b-day and she is making a big deal about it and Jack feels sad that he doesnt have one so in the end Sid tells him that they can share hers, it shows alot of character from Sid i mean our first perception of her is that she is a bitchy spoiled popular girl who cares more about herself than others and in a way she sort of was but she grows and realize that not everything has to be about her, her deciding to share something so important to her with Jack shows that, Sid is actually my favorite pink ranger ever, she also show girls that you can be girly and like doing your nails and going shopping but that doesnt make you anyless tough, and that episode where she goes so far to get the robot dog fixed even when everyone tells her is a lost caused show that she has a heart, she may not show it all the time but is there, and come on she has one of the coolest powers in that season

My original thoughts on Syd going into part 2 were a bit more harsh because as you said, bitchy spoiled popular girl. But then I took a closer look at both of her focus episodes and while I still think there was much more they could have done with her character, she's a much better character than I gave her credit for.
there's a famous story while they were filming SPD, where the actor who played Sky broke a table because he was hopped on a redbull, and I will never forget that.
Great video mate and I can't wait for the next one. I can say that SPD is my second favourite season, after Time Force with a slight difference. So much character development and conflicts that are necessary for growth, along with a great plot.
This season's main villain actually appeared in one of my worst nighmares ever just for his looks. And his connection with Cruger was awesome too I shipped Cat with Crugher SOO MUUCH. And that old bird blue gut in her epsode had such an strong presence!
Donting24 Um, what??? It had a good story, well-built characters, great production, etc.... Don't get me wrong, it does have a couple flaws, but overall the presentation is something VERY modern compared to the crap we have now.
I too cannot wait for that RPM video!! I just have to make it... eventually, lol. That'll probably be a two parter too, at the very least. One of those seasons where every single character is important... well, debatable with the twins, but when we get there, I'll try to explain why I think they are necessary too. I think Power Rangers can right the ship very easily by bringing back hardworking innovative minds like Bruce Kalish(who made SPD what it was) and Eddie Guzelian. Say what you will about the Disney Era, but every season felt distinct with it's own unique energy and ideas, and that's not what we have now.

The film series progression might be an interesting video, but honestly, with only 3 movies so far, I don't know ho viable it would be. But I do think, if they can afford it, that a well known director should direct the sequels. If Joss Whedon got on board, you better believe all of our nerd jimmies will be rustling! I don't know who Mr. H is, but I don't really make collab videos. Honestly, I wouldn't even know how that could work. Seems like a lot of logistics to bounce around alongside my already busy work schedule, lol.

one of the first series where even as a kid i really understood the characters first and actually liked scenes with them in it when they aren’t fighting. sky was a huge influence on me.
My second favorite season, and has my fav crossovers. My brother always leaned more on SPD while I was more Dinothunder. But when we first saw the two part crossover we were just hyped xD.

evident character growth for everyone throughout the season is part of the reason SPD is among my favorites. also Krueger is one of my favorite mentors especially with the question he asks Sky at both the the beginning and end of the season to to test the latter's growth & maturity
I think this season is my favorite. The world building, the characters, the fact that the rangers hav empowers besides being rangers, and the suits weapons and MORPHERS!!!! the morphers are definitely some of my favorite alongside Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder
Great idea! What I'll probably do, just to discuss more episodes, is maybe make separate lists for season finales, season openers, team up episodes, etc. And I'm also thinking about doing perhaps a Top 5 or 10 best episodes for each season, but it might be hard to do that and separate episodes into individual categories, but it'll all happen eventually :)
SPD is my favorite season of all time. The way the characters grow and the world they build for this one season. Also, Sky's Red Ranger fight is god tier Power Rangers.
Finally! Spd! I love these characters so much!!! Kruger really is a farther to his men and someone's character always develops. My favorite moment is SWAT bootcamp, where the rangers need to understand how to work together. Edit: Im a bit incoherent. This video and the next that will surely come out makes me giddy
I love Sydney, she was so funny, even in that when she played with diamonds with sky & when she starts a friendship with that robot dog (i dont remember the name) & much more, she's a sweet diamond 💖

This was the first season of Power Rangers I ever saw. From start to finish, anyway, i saw reruns of Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder before SPD started airing. Anyway, i loved it as a kid and my love for SPD continues to grow everytime i rewatch it. It still holds up even now that im an adult, hence why its my favorite season. (Though RPM is an *extremely* close second)

where were the A-Squad keys during Megaforce? I know it sucks, but they ARE a Ranger Team. Maybe after rangers gone evil are defeated their morphing data is removed or isolated from the grid due to bad history?
Yeah, let the good guys use those powers on the bad guys; see how they like it! Sadly, the Psycho Rangers were not tied to the Morphing Grid and were basically just monsters that can persist after death. Were there any other rangers that ended evil?
Stan Vale Well Gokaiger never had keys for the Nejirangers(The sentai counterparts of the psycho rangers), And A-squad; Like the Lightspeed titanium ranger, and Jungle fury spirit rangers were orignal characters for Power rangers.(Ergo: not part of Super Sentai canon.) And you really expected Super Megafarce to do something with original footage? It strived on utter halfassery!
An explanation (not that Megaforce gave us ANY), would be that the SPD keys only exist due to their time travel events in “Wormhole” and “Once a Ranger”, and since a squad never did that, their keys wouldn’t exist yet. Of course why SPD is at the Legendary Battle makes absolutely no sense, but of course, that’d require an explanation.
On the other hand, it would’ve been cool to see an “anti-Megaforce” who only had keys of evil rangers (psycho, a-squad), who opposed Megaforce at every turn. Maybe they have a few keys that started out evil, then turned good (green mmpr), and the Megaforce Rangers have to steal them. Of course that’d require originality, effort, and original footage, all of which were the antithesis of Megaforce.

Good video, but wished you talked about the “super-hero-cops” topic. You briefly touched on it regarding the lower-class aliens, but I feel you could have gone further. I understand talking about politics regarding the police in a power rangers video might seem ridiculous, but analyzing media targeted towards children is important. Especially, since they deliberately chose to make the red ranger of this season an African American, a group of people incredibly harmed by the police. It would have at least added some more nuance & serious retrospection to your video. Otherwise, a nice video that successfully hit my nostalgia

Bucky Barnes I’m just annoyed that Bridge is the last person on the team I’d see as being leader. Z relies on others a lot, but she cares about others and could work really well. Sid is great at dealing with people and would be an excellent leader... eventually, as she has a lot of character flaws she has to work through. Bridge just can’t demand respect, he’s too goofy.

I think it was based on ranking. Bridge was technically second in command of B squad. When the leader is promoted or resigns, second in command takes his place. Personally, I think his ability to think things through would make him a better leader than most.
Allyn R. It was, I just really can’t see Bridge making quick decisions a Red Ranger would need to. He’d be a good mentor, where he’d have time to consider things, but when it comes to in the moment things, well in “Once a Ranger” he fights the footsoldiers by doing flips on a box (which only served to distract them)
For as much as I love Bridge, I do agree that quick paced thinking probably wouldn't suit him that well. For as much as I don't favor Syd, she might actually be better in that specific role, if that's what you want from the leader, lol. If it were me, I'd have given Bridge the Commander role. With time, he might be better in that kind of slower paced leadership role versus Red Ranger on the spot fieldwork.

I personally love the idea of the Rangers being in the public eye. It allows for potential storylines about if what they’re doing is actually benefiting the people. It adds an extra layer to the story that doesn’t exist if they were just superheroes running around saving the city incognito. I also like it when ranger teams are adults and dealing with real world problems to an extent.
The idea of evil Rangers have forever fascinated me since the psycho rangers. I mean evil by choice. It shows that power can corrupt even some of the best. I’ve never been of the brainwashing aspect to cresting evil Rangers. Feels cheap.
This is definitely my sixth favorite ranger series. Can’t wait to see part 2 of this vid

To this day, Krueger is my favorite Ranger in the series. He's stern and strict, but also extremely kind and open-minded. He'll administer tough love were he deems necessary, but never to the point of cruelty. He truly wants his team to be the best people they can be, both in and out of SPD, and works to help cultivate them in genuinely meaningful ways, without resorting to generic platitudes or handing out power ups like they were going on sale like Ji, Gosei, and Kanoi had a habit of doing a lot of the time.
Krueger's punishments would seem cruel, if he wasn't leading a top police force. As far as I know those are pretty standard.
Kruger is one of my favorite mentors mainly because he's proactive when he needs to be, but not going as far as being just an Instant win button for the team. Not to mention he's like the badass lovechild of Saijin Komamura, and Mcgruff the Crime dog!

This season has my favorite “little kid” in it, Sam, because he goes on to become a ranger, and I just the idea of him taking on the role of those who inspired him.

I have high respect for this show. Always did when I was kid. I watched it recently now(I’m 16 btw) still loved it and I know why I loved it the first time. Jack was probably one of the best leaders I’ve seen. How much he grew. And how sky changed from an arrogant, sexist guy to a truly good leader and my man bridge was the best part of this show for me. One of my favs.
My favourite season hands down mainly because of the character work. Jack started out as a more or less lazy and easygoing person, helping people in small ways, but joining spd helps broaden his perspective even realizing at the end that he can do even more than fighting aliens. Sky is a seemingly idealistic ranger at first, but his main Achilles heel is often his pride. But when he puts his ego aside for the sake of a mission, and eventually his tram, he rises to the occasion as a capable blue and eventually red ranger. And dont even get me started on Cruger's heartbreaking backstory or Bridge's eccentric yet effective style. This season is STELLAR, and a shining example of what power rangers could be

what i really liked about grumm was that he was more willing to put himself in the fight (like in his atv fight against shadow ranger). lots of villains like zedd just sit on their throne and throw temper tantrums when the rangers win. the bad thing to point out was that grumm was technically an underling. i think producers have stated that omni was manipulating grumm and grumm did explicitly state that there was only one thing he fears (omni). wouldve been nice to see grumm fight the rangers more times than just the finale and the atv fight but omni didnt allow it (calling his hatred for the shadow ranger "petty")

I had a shadow ranger toy when I was younger, and I always thought it looked cool and made a lot of story for it. I never knew he has shadow ranger until I watched SPD and loved him even more.

Haha, making up stories was the best part! Mine inevitably had a wise old master(A bionicle for some reason, lol) getting betrayed by Ninja Tommy and it was up to Carter, Spiderman, and Green Centurian, which for some reason exists in the toy line, to save the day with the help of the Time Flyers!
I think I still have a Lunar Wolf toy that can transform between wolf Zord and Ranger form, like of like a Beast Wars toy, if any of you are old enough to remember that show, lol.

Skye is the best kind of second in command. He’s completely by the book, so he’s always there to call out the leader whenever he strays too far.

The Spock comparison is a great one! I didn't even think about that until you brought it up. But it's for that reason that I personally end up liking character like Sky, like Spock, like Kai, even Cam early on, who can fill that necessary role of "Focus Coach" you could say, lol.
And he has probably the biggest building arc because he does get promoted to Red Ranger at the end of the series when he's asked the same question from the beginning. His answer is the polar opposite of what he answered with in the start of the series.

Imagine a story with elements from this season. A world much like this one with a fighting force (Space Force) that incorporates the character development found in SPD. They could have seriously made a series on SPD alone with how much potential was in there. The fact there's other squads, the character building itself, and the social environment.

SPD introduced me to Power Rangers and even the mecha genre as well. It brought me to literally drawing box robots on my school books. The opening's also top notch and I'd sometimes take time off to memorize the poses after the rangers fully suit up.
Thank you for this review. Looking forward to part 2. SPD is a good season. The rangers and supporting characters felt real and relatable. I like how the world is set up yet distinguishes itself with the aliens being on Earth. The class dynamics, the feeling of inferiority, and proving yourself above what someone assigns you to really help this season stand out. In terms of mentors Kruger tops the list because he has backstory, fights alongside the rangers when he can, and sees potential in others. He is not OP but you can see why he is in charge. I wish more seasons had this dynamic with the characters because whoever wrote this season deserves high praise. Not every character stands out but there's not really a character I say got shafted in terms of personality or backstory per say in my opinion. Also no love triangle/romantic issues BS holding the story down unless my memory is fuzzy.
I think your memory is just fine, because I don't think this season even hinted at any romantic attractions. There was perhaps a moment between Jack and Syd when Syd offered to share birthdays, but other than that, definitely BS free on that end! Although I think the only love triangle in PR happened briefly with Zhane, Andros, and Ashley, unless I'm the one going fuzzy. But I think the romance they use in that season generally speaking, made for some funny moments. I will never forget when Zhane high tailed it outta there once a monster was beaten to make his date with Astronema, lol, he's a legend for that.

Still feel like this show had the best characters of any season. At least to me. Maybe I am biased because of this was the first Season of Power Rangers I watched. But Jack, Sky, Cruger's storylines were absolutely perfect. Jack leaving because he never really wanted to do it, and always wanted a life outside, just was perfect. Cruger not being shown as perfect. Sky learning to respect his teammates, accepting Jack as his leader, and finally becoming the Red Ranger. Just, love man.
Not really biased. I watched this season recently first time as an adult, and I love it.
Especially Jack and Doggie were great characters. Jack because of his character development (becoming a leader he wasn't at the beginning) and Doggie was just a perfect mentor. Smart, strong warrior himself, strict but knew when to go easy and could search for talents in his proteges (he knew from the beginning that Jack has potential to be a leader, know that Sky could be a leader but not now, that he needs more humility to be a Red Ranger, so he didn't make him one at the beginning but later, when he himself admitted that colors don't matter) and actually taught Rangers how to be better fighters and people (like when he gave Jack a fake Shadow Saber just to show him that the sword does not win battles, but the Ranger himself). Tommy Oliver from "Dino Thunder" was ok, but he felt more like an older brother, than mentor, while Doggie was a real mentor.
SPD was/is my favorite season mainly because I developed a major crush on Commander Cruger. XD

"For some, SPD is at least their favorite in the franchise." Amen! I thought Dino Thunder was the bee's knees before, but SPD was much better strength for strength. An awesome theme song, interesting setting, compelling characters with believable arcs, spectacular action, and worthwhile morals I wish the franchise would bring up once more. About the only really bad thing about this season is the episode titles, but plenty of other seasons have this same problem, so it's not exactly world-breaking in my book.
I think the fact that the aliens lived with the humans in 2025 was a consequence of the end of Mystic Force, when Tobby unites the humans to the forest beings to help the Rangers. I believe this helped humans see these beings not exactly as a threat and became more receptive to it over time, which made it possible for SPD events

One of my favorite episode is the Sid and Jack one where is Sid's b-day and she is making a big deal about it and Jack feels sad that he doesnt have one so in the end Sid tells him that they can share hers, it shows alot of character from Sid i mean our first perception of her is that she is a bitchy spoiled popular girl who cares more about herself than others and in a way she sort of was but she grows and realize that not everything has to be about her, her deciding to share something so important to her with Jack shows that, Sid is actually my favorite pink ranger ever, she also show girls that you can be girly and like doing your nails and going shopping but that doesnt make you anyless tough, and that episode where she goes so far to get the robot dog fixed even when everyone tells her is a lost caused show that she has a heart, she may not show it all the time but is there, and come on she has one of the coolest powers in that season
Thank you for this comment. I made major script edits to part 2 because of your input. My original thoughts on Syd going into part 2 were a bit more harsh because as you said, bitchy spoiled popular girl. But then I took a closer look at both of her focus episodes and while I still think there was much more they could have done with her character, she's a much better character than I gave her credit for.
there's a famous story while they were filming SPD, where the actor who played Sky broke a table because he was hopped on a redbull, and I will never forget that.

Don't get me wrong, it does have a couple flaws, but overall the presentation is something VERY modern compared to the crap we have now.

One of those seasons where every single character is important... well, debatable with the twins, but when we get there, I'll try to explain why I think they are necessary too.
I think Power Rangers can right the ship very easily by bringing back hardworking innovative minds like Bruce Kalish(who made SPD what it was) and Eddie Guzelian. Say what you will about the Disney Era, but every season felt distinct with it's own unique energy and ideas, and that's not what we have now.

The film series progression might be an interesting video, but honestly, with only 3 movies so far, I don't know ho viable it would be. But I do think, if they can afford it, that a well known director should direct the sequels. If Joss Whedon got on board, you better believe all of our nerd jimmies will be rustling!

Boom deserved to become the green ranger in the finale.
That would have been really cool, but if we're being honest, I think Sophie would be more qualified, that is, if she didn't get shipped off the Theta quadrant at the end of Wired part 2.
What if they made Boom the new pink ranger? Logically, Z and Syd should have moved up in rank and Z becoming green would have been interesting but a guy as the pink ranger would have been a nod at all the times they said a girl couldn't be a red ranger. Just a thought.
one of the first series where even as a kid i really understood the characters first and actually liked scenes with them in it when they aren’t fighting. sky was a huge influence on me.
My second favorite season, and has my fav crossovers. My brother always leaned more on SPD while I was more Dinothunder. But when we first saw the two part crossover we were just hyped xD.

I think this season is my favorite. The world building, the characters, the fact that the rangers hav empowers besides being rangers, and the suits weapons and MORPHERS!!!! the morphers are definitely some of my favorite alongside Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder

What I'll probably do, just to discuss more episodes, is maybe make separate lists for season finales, season openers, team up episodes, etc. And I'm also thinking about doing perhaps a Top 5 or 10 best episodes for each season, but it might be hard to do that and separate episodes into individual categories, but it'll all happen eventually :)
SPD is my favorite season of all time. The way the characters grow and the world they build for this one season. Also, Sky's Red Ranger fight is god tier Power Rangers.

My favorite moment is SWAT bootcamp, where the rangers need to understand how to work together.

This was the first season of Power Rangers I ever saw. From start to finish, anyway, i saw reruns of Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder before SPD started airing. Anyway, i loved it as a kid and my love for SPD continues to grow everytime i rewatch it. It still holds up even now that im an adult, hence why its my favorite season. (Though RPM is an *extremely* close second)
Same and from there I was sold as to why this franchise was so popular

where were the A-Squad keys during Megaforce? I know it sucks, but they ARE a Ranger Team. Maybe after rangers gone evil are defeated their morphing data is removed or isolated from the grid due to bad history?

Sadly, the Psycho Rangers were not tied to the Morphing Grid and were basically just monsters that can persist after death.

Stan Vale Well Gokaiger never had keys for the Nejirangers(The sentai counterparts of the psycho rangers), And A-squad; Like the Lightspeed titanium ranger, and Jungle fury spirit rangers were orignal characters for Power rangers.(Ergo: not part of Super Sentai canon.) And you really expected Super Megafarce to do something with original footage? It strived on utter halfassery!
An explanation (not that Megaforce gave us ANY), would be that the SPD keys only exist due to their time travel events in “Wormhole” and “Once a Ranger”, and since a squad never did that, their keys wouldn’t exist yet.
Of course why SPD is at the Legendary Battle makes absolutely no sense, but of course, that’d require an explanation.
On the other hand, it would’ve been cool to see an “anti-Megaforce” who only had keys of evil rangers (psycho, a-squad), who opposed Megaforce at every turn. Maybe they have a few keys that started out evil, then turned good (green mmpr), and the Megaforce Rangers have to steal them.
Of course that’d require originality, effort, and original footage, all of which were the antithesis of Megaforce.

Good video, but wished you talked about the “super-hero-cops” topic. You briefly touched on it regarding the lower-class aliens, but I feel you could have gone further. I understand talking about politics regarding the police in a power rangers video might seem ridiculous, but analyzing media targeted towards children is important. Especially, since they deliberately chose to make the red ranger of this season an African American, a group of people incredibly harmed by the police. It would have at least added some more nuance & serious retrospection to your video. Otherwise, a nice video that successfully hit my nostalgia
