  • Join Felipe and I as we practice some commercial maneuvers in the Piper Arrow. This was my first time doing the maneuvers in a complex aircraft! After doing some, we went to Flagler County to have some well earned lunch!
    Enjoy the flight!

Nice work overall and great approach. Heed the advice your CFI gave you as we all should, that being: "you can always go around". Best of luck in your progress.

Thank you sir.. Yea go around's are always on the mind.. In one of my videos about a gusty landing in Vero I make a point of saying that to myself.. Never a bad idea if the approach isn't looking too good, even on a checkride. Shows good decision making.

Another great vid. High Jackers is a great fly-in lunch spot, been there a couple times myself. I just started my portion in an Arrow for the commercial rating. Do you find the Arrow to be a little more tricky to land than what your used to?

+robsvt Thanks man! Yea the restaurant there was really good! Enjoyed a massive burger! I will definitely be going back. As far as the arrow and warrior, I find the arrow a little trickier to land yes. Now I've become more familiar with its characteristics i think I'm getting used to it and my landings are better, however the power off 180's I'm still getting used to. Im making a video currently on power off 180's. How are you finding it?

+LewDix Aviation I'm coming out of a C172S, so to me, it's drastically different. It tends to sinks like a rock and I have to remember not to chop the power coming in on landing. I agree completely with what you say about power-off 180s, it's a challenge in the Arrow, but I suppose that's the purpose of this training.

    Hey
Thank you for the very helpful videos, I’ve learned a lot from them,
I have a question if you allow me to ask!
How many hours did it take you to get hold of the arrow and to do all the single engine commercial maneuvers beside the 10hrs complex plane?
Do you think 12hrs gonna be enough?
Thanks a lot and wish you many success.
    Regards,
    Basu

Does the lazy 8 maneuver produce significant G forces?
    ....like maybe 2 or 3 Gs ?

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  8 ปีที่แล้ว

It doesn't produce a lot of G-force.. It's a very lazy maneuver.. Everything is done very slowly so essentially it's like doing a very slow climbing and descending turn

      the reason I ask....
I went for my first glider flight today. I remember the pilot saying some phrase with the word " eight " in it. Then we banked - pretty steep and then I remember fairly strong G force (at least for me with no experience doing this) - l lost orientation and looking out the window seemed to cause me to be air sick so I looked straight ahead inside the plane. I think he did this twice but I'm not sure, after the first one I was kind of out of it. Could this have been a lazy eight ? We did not go upside down, that much I remember. ...I just remember my head feeling very heavy and hard to move and feeling sick (no barf bag was needed) Could this maneuver have been 2-4 Gs ?
