Salut Medieval Survivors ! Please let me know your thoughts and comments on this Village Planning & Aesthetics Guide :) ! Was it useful ? Also if you have other ADDITIONAL TIPS (See Below), kindly share, and I will quote your tips here for everyone's benefit 👍 !
I am literally rebuilding my whole village and moving it a little bit since I wanted to optimize it better than I did with the first one. Your video is very informative and makes complete sense to people that might not be good at the game still. Thank you for your time!
Bonchour Mossieur, thank you so much for your guide, was the most usefull i saw so far. Bought it todaay, played like ...two hours. To summarize, this is how id plan my village: draw a circle, crafting goes in the middle, leave the center spot for a tavern, residential area left and right - with a layout - farming and/or water top and bottom, extraction further afield
Hi Royal Bambi ! Merci. Thank you very much for your feedback, I'm glad you find it useful :). You can check my playtlist if you like, I did similar guides on other topics for this game. You summarize well, but I would suggest for you to consider two things in this summary :) : - most of the buildings you build, you will have to demolish them later on, to build high tier ones, this is a dynamic process. (so if you want your final tavern in a very specific location, maybe place your taverns lvl 1 then lvl 2 neighbors to this tavern lvl 3 ? Maybe you skip the lvl 2 one also). - reserve some place for growth. We now got the additional stable for example, we can expect to have in the near future pottery, beehives, etc ... so don't enclose yourself too much compact in a very small area :) ! The water/lake/river can be slightly further away, iti snot necessary to have it close, on my end itis aesthetic, and also because the existing road is so close to the lake ! Cheers
Hi again Uncle Timo, thank you for the feedback :) ! To be added to this topic now, I think the horses need somehow to get an enclosure as well, same as the other animals, but I have not figured out how to get that enclosure right since there are no doors.
Hi Rohan, thank you very much for the positive feedback, this is much appreciated. I love this game so much :) ! The devs have actually shared some of my screenshot on Twitter in the past, and my screenshots are also regularly used for the Reddit page of the game; this satisfies me to see this from the devs :).
Wow! Your city looks beautiful. I will definitely be making my town look nicer. The more real it looks the more fun it will be. I can't wait for roads in the next update!
Thank you Crypto Beast :) ! Yeah I so much look forward to it as well, it will help very much ! And let see how the fishing goes :) ! Also at the same time the cleaning up of the field menu, removing all the false "field-roads" !
Hi Kristof ! I'm glad you also find it useful :) ! It is a quite different topic than the others, this one is more subjective but I do think it can help players in planning for their villages development :) !
This is a very useful video - the layout does require some thought, and more room than one initially imagines! Top work, SolutOdka! I just learned the way that crops are planted, during this era. They used long, thin strips of land, pretty much like the current land usage in rural Poland. I tend to put a Smithy I by the mine. It's really just to smelt ores, and to make tools in the early game.
What a pleasant tour of the village! I take it the houses will soon take the form of Haussmanian buildings? haha Thanks for the best tips delivered in swift and efficient fashion!
It's freaking me out that you built in the same place I did and built out your town much the same. I looked at your guide because I'm at 55 buildings and looking for some ideas on how to finish up the town as I close in on 65 and my villagers all reproduce into oblivion. (admittedly I moved it from across the river after I found out you can't build on hills. (; )
Hi there, this location is really great indeed :)! Both with a nice landscape and practical with multiple villages nearby. Yep, it is difficult to build on the hills, but this can be done somehow, as I did in the hamlet series :). Cheers !
Thank you for the video. Question: how do you place objects, for example accurate placing of baskets on tables and leaning spears on walls? Every time I “drop” an item, it lays flat on the ground and I cant figure out how to “drag” an item into place. Please help
Hi Edward, you are welcome :). You are doing it the right way, you need to let it fall from your position, then if not good, move slightly and repeat until you have it as you think it is good enough :). For some this is easy, for others it takes a long time ... There is no "drag" of items (yet at least).
@@SolutOdka hey do you happen to know why I’m not getting flax seeds when i harvest flax using the copper sickle? I’m getting flax, but no flax seeds from harvesting
I started a village in that same spot. Where did you put your extraction sheds and mine? The tooltip says they need to be within 50 meters of the cave but to do that the shed would be WAY away from village and resources would not come to town. Also, Would I be better off to build a mini camp outside a mine complete with extraction shed, resource building, and house for the mine workers? I believe this 2nd resource building would link to the one in town right?
Hi KorenoGamer, thank you. I have placed my extraction shed on the east, towards Gostovia, close to the clay and stones area; for the mine, I have placed it at the north cave. For these extraction buildings, it does not matter how far they are, as I explained in this video : th-cam.com/video/yt7904Fyq10/w-d-xo.html . But it does matter for your fields and field workers :) ! No need to build anything more than the extraction shed and the mine wherever you place them, at the current stage of development of the game, there is no purpose on building anything adjacent to it for the NPCs to work there. If you want to mine yourself this is a different case, of course. Yes, resources buildings have shared container, however, I would suggest to have one in your city center, then the other one close to where you want to sell stuff, saving a tremendous amount of traveling time with your goods for sale. An example in this short video :) : th-cam.com/video/naoBqduZUJ4/w-d-xo.html Please advise if this answers your questions KorenoGamer ? Cheers !
Here is a really important one to add: You might want to plan a general look of your field first, so you know what the grid on your area looks like!! If you do buildings first, then it will be impossible to align fields with buildings later on.
@@SirGreenDay you cannot rotate fields. Best thing to do is to look NWSE on the compass and then place your fields, if that makes sense. If your compass is directly pointing to North for example, your field will always be aligned to the grid. If not aligned then they will always be off put from your buildings.
Hello! It depends, there is the main storyline quests, you can do if you desire to know the story. Then you have the regular NPC quests, which is also up to you. On my end, I try to do a few here and there for the fun of it :).
Hi Jonathan ! Thank you. Indeed, you can build some fences and walls to create a sort of 'stairs' to access your roofs, then ideally you can then jump from roof to roof :) ! Cheers
I don't like that grid based building everyone seems to do, IMO a spot for a village should have flat lands and hills and build as the terrain allows it,this way the village gonna look more organic for example I rarely orientate my buildings so they all line up only in super flat terrain where it's logcial let's say, yeah maybe it's not optimised for perfect production but feels more like a medieval village not a modern concept.
