For those on UEFI Windows this method won't work as MBR and UEFI are different partitions. To fix your UEFI system, insert the windows installation disc or USB with windows and select startup repair under the troubleshooting tab.
Dang dude I never knew it was possible to reverse this virus back. I remember having fun trashing windows xp Vm's back in the day using this! Glad to know there's a tutorial for those who accidentally run it on a physical system.

my brother pranked me on my Virtual machine i was using it a lot then he pranked it with memz and this tutorial helped me, thank you!

If everyone want run memz on actual computer and use this tutorial then don't try it, it's pretty risky
Indeed it is, it is never recommended to intentionally run any kind of virus on a real computer. This tutorial was made to show you how to fix it if you click a shady email link, or if you had a friend that needed to borrow your computer which has important data on it and they thought it would be funny to run memz on it.

the PC was not a virtual machine
It probably messed up the partition that your hard drive is on, theres two ways that you can fix windows, if you don't have an installation disc you can use a USB instead.

How do I run the memz virus? When I get the memz virus it just gives me a bunch of files in a folder called memz master
More than likely you downloaded the files for memz instead of memz itself which is a .bat, if you google memz batch code you should find a github by viper, just copy and paste the code into notepad and save it as a .bat to run it, be advised its a destructive program and you should only run it on a virtual machine, if your not sure what your doing it would be safer to watch a youtube video on it instead.

Also long as you have a windows installation disk or a usb with windows installed you can boot from that and use the commands in command prompt to rewrite the master boot record.

@@MrShadesG9X I just ordered the reinstallstion disk and it will be here Friday this kid told me to download this virus without me knowing it was a virus he said it helps your computer run better and faster and I fell into his trap but luckily as soon as I get my computer back up and running his internet is going to be gone if you catch what I’m dropping

WARNING don’t run this trojan on a real computer as it will over right the MBR and make your partition table un recognisable which will make all your data unavailable even if you have a efi boatloader it won’t come up with nyan cat but it will make windows unbootable as the efi partition is not accessible

Yep, as long as you have an empty flash drive you can download the disc onto that and it works the same.

Yes there is, all you need is a USB or a windows installation disc and you'll be able to fix your system

@@fidgetkeys3064 no, you just need to boot into the USB/Disc to get to command prompt, from there you can enter commands to reset the MBR or GPT which will remove the cat and windows will startup as normal.
