  • Kevin O'Sullivan blasts junior doctors for "sacrificing patients", as they announce a five-day strike before the general election.
"If they think this is a decent thing, to sacrifice patients lives on the altar of industrial action - they should all go straight to hell!"
Junior doctors in England are to stage a five-day strike in the run-up to the General Election.
Talks had recently reopened with a view to ending the long-running dispute over pay between medics in training and the Government.
After the July 4 election was called last week, the British Medical Association (BMA) gave the Government “a final opportunity to make an offer and avoid strikes” but “this opportunity has not been taken up”.
The union announced that junior doctors will stage a full walkout from 7am on June 27 to 7am on July 2.

  • @Pendragon1122

Honestly, the strike might backfire from that perspective if they’re looking to increase support for labour…it just makes it even more likely a lot of people won’t vote labour, as it reminds them that strike action in general would only get worse under Labour!

  • @tillyt4054

As a retired Nurse , No Doctor or Nurse should be allowed to strike , it should be written into their contracts

  • @davidgallagher165

I don't think Hell would except the Jr Doctors. It's a total disgrace.

  • @allenfried7196

There are junior doctors who aren't on strike, the ones with morals

We have a whole generation of young people who may be tempted to vote Labour, but are too young to remember 1979. I was at the checkout in a supermarket in Stepney East London, and found myself out of work because the lorry drivers were on strike and the shelves were empty, the bins were not collected and the streets were full of rats, the dead were not being buried. My huband, a builder could not find work, despite walking the streets looking for it. A Labour government in 'power' at the time completely wrecked the economy and peoples lives too. If Starmer wins power, the Unions will not stop striking, they will simply strike whenever they want more money for their members. The scenario at the start of this post will continue as it always does, please, just hold your nose and vote for Sunak, because he is just about the best of a rotton lot.

If the NHS cut the number of administration managers on multiple levels, e,g diversity they would maybe be able to pay the doctors.

Personally I think Doctors are worth more than £14 an hour,it’s a hard responsible job .No one should have to work lots of extra hours to earn a decent wage.

  • @donnadeaville7558

It;s not like to a good and correct line of work. Most are not fit for purpose

  • @jevaughnclarke6572

Imagine having somoeone who is part responsible saving your life have the burden of money problems and debt, from the start of their career. I am a Jr. doctor in a 3rd world country and I have a higher salary than these doctors. Its easy to villfy them for not caring , but who cares about them? Medicine is painstakingly hard and sacrifical in nature.
