1993 baby here. I remember the first time seeing this movie it’s a core memory. I was about 10, and we had just finished putting up our Christmas tree. I guess my Dad was maybe trying to start a tradition, cause he made home made pizza, we Italian so yeah. We ate dinner eating pizza sitting on the couch watching this movie. This was so far from the norm, my parents had never let us eat dinner on the couch and watch tv at the same time. We’ve done it every year since for like 19 years. Even in my own house now with my own wife we still do this. So this movie is exclusively watch every year immediately following putting up our Christmas tree while eating pizza. To me this movie IS Christmas, plus the characters are so relatable we all have family members like the ones in this movie.
Great movie. Saw it first in theaters as a kid. Seen it again pretty much every Christmas since. To this day, my family describes a house decorated with too many lights as receiving "the full Griswald". Though this movie is gloriously ridiculous and over the top, I think the crazed quest to have a great family Christmas even as everything goes wrong is something we all can relate to.
Being born I'm in 1997, I technically fall into the Gen Z category, and I LOVE your channel! And I love Christmas Vacation! This was one of the first PG-13 movies I was allowed to watch, and I remember it was a big deal the first Christmas I was finally able to watch this with my parents. I still watch it (almost) every year, and I look forward to sharing it with my kids someday.
I'm not gen Z, but I was born in 1992 and the youngest of four siblings (my oldest sibling was born in 1982). We checked out "Christmas Vacation" as a family for the first time in like, 2012 or 2013, and weirdly enough I was the only one who enjoyed it. Over time I appreciated it more and more, and it's now included in my yearly must-watch Christmas movie rotation.
I think the new cover is great! Everybody has seen this movie a hundred times and knows all of the craziness that happens throughout, so to make the cover look like a wholesome, heartwarming Hallmark movie is a genius twist.
I first watched this in full last year, for the first time. This was not in our yearly rotation when it came to Christmas movies but I will say it is now
My wife is not from America and is definitely the biggest fan of this movie in our house. We watch it every year. My 14yr old is meh on it (no body count besides the cat). I’m a fan, having grown up with a mom that loved it and I was 9 when it came out.
I’m Gen Z, I first saw it on TV. I didn’t get it and shut it off. I later bought the Vacation DVD set and watched it again. I’ve come to enjoy the story and the dialogue and the slapstick but my Gen X mom hates it lol.
When DVD first came along in the late ‘90s, the Warner Bros. full frame disc of this classic was one of the first titles rolled out to consumers. Believe it or not, it actually wasn’t half bad at all (as far as DVDs were at the time.) Ever since then, I always love to hear about newer editions that keep this Yuletide classic alive. Awesome review!!! 👍🔥👌🎉🔥
Gotta pick this up. I'm a Gen Xer and it's slowly become my favorite Vacation movie over the first one. I like the new cover, sorta like a Mad magazine assortment of Easter eggs in the background, so some thought went into it and put together by someone who actually has seen the movie. I was never a huge fan of the original poster (memorable as it is) as it was a big step down from the illustrated artwork of pt 1 & 2.
Truthfully, I think we probably talk too much about quality upgrades. The movie itself is the most important thing. These 4K reviews represent a way for me to talk about older movies with a hook for a new audience, but I mostly just hope people are watching movies, regardless of the particular edition.
@@CerealAtMidnight Oh, that wasn't criticism on you, it's truly personal preference. But i agree about hoping people are watching the movies regardless, i'm the type that prefers to have a movie, even in VHS than to not have. However, i know for many people, they are only discovering and watching the classics because of the blu-rays and 4ks. A lot of people our age and younger only tries if it's on that format, so i salute you for keeping making these videos and talking about those movies, attracting audiences to them.
Oh, I didn't take it as a personal criticism! But I think it's true that a significant portion of the TH-cam movie collecting audience would rather talk about quality than the movie. It's really a shame.
Heath. this movie is fun, along with the other vacation movies i like the cover of the 4k, sure it isnt the same as the original Bluray cover, But they probably wanted to do a Hallmarky type cover for the 4k there are a Lot of Hilarious scenes in this movie the only thing with the film here, is the scenes with Uncle lewis the uncle lewis character (william hickey) sounds similar to peter falk you'd be able to tell that if you compare a scene with uncle lewis in this movie to a scene with falk from one of his works, and you'd be able to understand each actor's mannerisms in how they talk
Hey Heath Great movie, one of my all time favourite films to watch at Christmas. Think i said to you before on the ELF video, it does seem to be a 2K scan upscaled, but we don't really know? How about a SPARS code for video?? Anyway, as you say it is the best it has looked, and that's great for us fans, and yes I LOVE the new artwork, gives a different home media presentation, however i feel that they should include maybe a reversible cover for those that want the original more commonly known artwork, then we are all happy. Cheers Dean
If you don't mind, Heath, I'd like to see if I can fumigate that old Blu-ray edition. It's a good quality item. If you don't mind, let me ask how much it'd set you back?
Not a fan of the cover either. Like u, I prefer the other cover; it just speaks to so much more of what the movie is about which is Christmas gone wrong.🤣
The cover makes it look like a Hallmark movie. Someone on Reddit told me I was wrong for disliking it because it’s SUPPOSED to look like that. I said something that’s supposed to be bad is still bad. I got downvotes lmao.

I've noticed as well that younger audiences seem to "not get it". Real Shame the Gen Z'ers have gotten used to garbage films.

You in a Santa hat just seems right. Perfect.
I'm jolly.

We can enjoy this 4k for many years to come. Thanks Warner
Seen this in the theatre when it first came out and have owned it on every format

It's the best comedy Christmas 🎄 movie that ever lived. 😀👍🎅
Gen Z here (2000) love your videos and reviews Heath! I've heard of this and want to get it. Thanks for the review

Great art, thank you ... except I REALLY like the 4K cover art.
Great review! I just ordered it for $23 🎥
Gen z here, 2003, love this movie and have the 2006 blu ray of it.
I'm a weird one, i'm really not obsessed about high quality, sometimes i even dislike how it changes some aspects of the movies.

I love the idea of reversible artwork with the classic poster artwork!

I don't follow! You're asking how much I paid for the 2006 Blu?
@@CerealAtMidnight just channeling cousin Eddie offering to fumigate and purchase Clark's no-longer-viable chair after the "fried pussycat" incident.
Hahaha!
$1 movie theater in 1989 🍿
I miss the $1 theater!
Do you think Christmas Vacation 2 is ever coming to 4K?
Long live Eddie!
I'm gonna say Christmas Vacation 2 will come to 4K when hell freezes over!

I suppose it’s ironic, like step brothers. I’m actually happy to see something new.
Hey Heath! I need your PO Box. I have a little something for you. Thanks.
You don't need to do that! But since you asked:
