Like all the greats, they did things their way. Armstrong's embouchure was incorrect. Hendrix played barre chords with his thumb. James Jamerson used only one finger, "The Hook," on bass. Bobby "The Wildman" Enriquez was the best kept secret in jazz.
@@jbeeyes Yes. He was unable to read music, and played by ear. He developed his style by listening big bands on records, trying to reproduce on the piano the sounds he heard.
