Tbh I think Snickers ended up having more trouble sitting as he got older. When we see him as a baby he has proportions more similar to the other babys. When he's older he's so much longer so it makes sense he now has more issues sitting. Kinda like puberty where your limbs are gangly and you need to readjust your muscle control for how you are as a teen versus as a kid.
That's what I'm thinking too. The show already had breed references (Mackenzie mentioning jumping on sheep and being prone to anxiety in The Creek and Space, ADHD being represented in a Jack Russel, Wendy and Judo's fur in Dirt, Jean-Luc being from Canada, etc.) so Snickers was probably experiencing something like that.
What if Snickers was able to sit up as a baby, but as he's got longer/taller, his centre of gravity has shifted, combined with his short legs, so he is having to re-learn how to balance when sitting?
I like the theory that in baby race, the babies are stereotypical babies learning to do stuff. Then around age 1, they are in the toddler stage. Some toddlers are more crazy then others for example socks compared to lila’s brother

Baby Race was the first episode I ever watched of Bluey, and I immediately fell in love with the show. It was new, funny, creative, and touching. And the music was incredible. The reason I saw Baby Race first is because TH-cam recommended "Baby Race Full Episode" to me. I had heard about Bluey at the time, but I didn't know much about it other than it was on Disney+. I had no idea how it would change my life. I watched the episode and I'll never forget how I felt when I first heard, "You're doing great," and "Maybe she just saw something she wanted." A few months later, and here we are. I've been obsessed with the show ever since. ❤
Omg same! Well I think technically Hellicopter was the first episode I saw. I didn't know much about Bluey at the time but I saw so many people talking about it. I didn't know what to think of it. I heard that it's deep and has really meaningful lessons but I was a bit skeptical since it was a preschool show. But one day it was airing on Disney Channel and I decided to watch it with my mom. They played Hellicopter, Octopus, and Baby Race. When I saw those episodes I was like "Oh wow this was better than I thought." I did not expect it to be so emotional, adorable, and teach such great lessons. Then I watched the rest of the show and I've loved it since then. I'm so glad this show exists and I watched it. I wish I had this when I was younger tho. Maybe I would've learned some things as a kid. All I had was stinky Dora lol
Great video! I'm actually quite happy that the creators decided to leave Socks' development up to interpretation. It means that if we on the spectrum want to see ourselves in her character, we can, but it really is up to the viewer! Even as someone with ASD, I don't really know whether I would say she is on the spectrum or not, since it could just be a stage of development we haven't seen yet in the Bluey-verse. I think it will remain to be seen in future seasons as she grows up. Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention Indy's sister, the "early baby". We never see her, but the episode half focusses on Indy and her using play as a way to process what happened with her mum and sister which is something they do a lot in the series in episodes like Copycat.
I've got an idea for a baby episode centering bingo : MUM and dad are trying to get her to say her first word MUM wants her to say MUM and dad wants her to say dad and at the end of the episode she says her first word but her first word is "floppy"
honestly i kinda wish they went with the autistic thing for socks, i think it wouldve been great representation to have it, but also, i love socks in puppy mode so much hehehe 🥰

@@ciaranmadden3068 not if they show it in a terrible way, its not just you its everyone with Autism and most kids and adults don't want to see that portrayed as a child acting like a dog, 1 because most kids go through that phase as they pretend to be dogs and 2 it seems hurtful to portray a pretty common illness in that way. I agree i want it in the show but done well, like they did in good doctor, they did a lot of research and made sure if they will do it, they did it right.
i'm actually curious about what bingo was like as a baby, I've seen a lot of pictures of her as a baby, just no episodes talking about it. also rusty as a baby, would also be an interesting story, especially since he lives on a military base.

One more honorable mention I feel like would be Indy's sister, while we don't see her at all, we do know about her thanks to the episode of early baby, but I know though this video is ones we only really have seen

Then age 1-2 they act like puppies like early Socks did. Then from 2-3 they start to stand up and talk like later Socks does. Then from 3 onward they are just like Muffin and Bingo and everyone else that is 3+ in the show. I mean thats just a theory. We all know that it was an obvious mistake in real life and I guess they just forgot or changed how the babies are because having a bunch of biting Socks puppies in the Baby Race episode wouldn't have hit with mothers as much as what they actually did. And maybe its just me but i find it annoying every single time a character does something different they are automatically labelled autistic. I think its insulting to actual autistic people to have only the "weird" characters represent them. But also, why cant people just be different without having something "wrong" with them or having to have a label? Some people are just different and thats ok.
My dad actually saw me take my first step. He was a trucker who was gone for like three weeks at a time so it was probably a very cool thing to see. God bless you☮️♥️😃
Wouldn't it be tragic, but also representation for something that doesn't get talked about, if Choe's sibling died of SIDS? Could explain why when Bluey goes to Chloe's house it's always just her. It's too painful for her to see that sibling bond that she doesn't get to have.
my theory is that he could sit when he was a baby because his legs were small and he was small, but because he is a sausage dog his legs stayed small and he grew. therefore making sense that he has difficulty sitting up.
Socks has her own special and unique way of expressing herself. She's a little different, and sometimes it's a little hard for her to interact with her playmates. I think that if the show creators wanted to they could use her character to help their younger audience learn about autism. They could do that by having her do things that would be typical for someone on the autism spectrum. It would be nice for the kids who see the show to see a character that looks and acts like them. It would make them feel like they're not so different from their friends. If Socks was written to have autism I think that it would be a great way for them to start to understand autism. It's an amazing show with so many wonderful messages. The show does such a great job of showing that you can play with other kids, regardless of breed, *race*, or where you live, that it would be a natural transition to teaching the kids to be accepting and understanding of disabilities. I remember growing up and only seeing "normal" kids on shows. They all had no differences. It would be nice to see a show that does more than just show the differences. I hope that someday they make an episode that tackles the issues that the autistic community deals with. They can help children feel less alone and afraid.
I just noticed in the clips of Baby race how the nappys don’t have a hole for the tail. That means the tails are gonna be extra messy when changing them Any way. Have you got to check out the Bluey. Video game? You get a nice look inside the Heeler home

I think the dog brushing it might just be her as a toddler from being we had the word baby in it so you would clearly have to be a baby to have that form and then when you get order you, you learn how to walk like a dog until you’re ready to walk on allready to walk like a real boy character so she won’t be a toddler and then she wouldn’t be she. She would stop being a toddler after Africa of the Christmas episode.
I feel like it was easier for snickers to sit because he was shorter look at how long he got. Maybe he was learning to sit as a baby but as he grew it got more difficult cuz his body is longer
I haven’t seen all of the episodes yet, but from what I’ve seen my theory is that some dogs when they are little get into a “puppy era” and are able to walk on all 4. Then they just lose that ability (to naturally walk like that instead of just crawling) when they get older, as well as toning down the dog aspects some more. Just because whenever we see the adults pretending to being 4 legged animals, they crawl instead of just standing like real world dogs do. Who knows though, maybe there are dogs in the Bluey universe that never got to stand on two and just walk on 4 permanently or can easily switch between the two? Maybe even in dog behavior too? Although I’m not sure about that part. All that being said though, I’m okay with Socks either having or not having autism, I just not sure if the puppy aspects are enough to show that it’s true or not without the writers confirming it in a episode or online. I’m no way an expert in the full range of the autism spectrum though, I just know a few people who are on it, so feel free to explain more aspects about it and it could apply to Socks. :)

Baby Snickers (and Snickers all around) is very cute----my personal favorite is Socks (i.e. when she goes 'Your nose, Da Da!) or when she squalls trying to get Muffin out of the way of the 'drawing thing' in 'Faceytalk.' I'm surprised 'Faceytalk' wasn't on your list--it's my favorite Bluey episode. By the way, much of Bluey's adventure content seems, to me, to be influenced by some of the classic animated films from the old Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios (i.e. the Tom and Jerry cartoons). One classic MGM film, by Hugh Harman, is 'The Little Mole' (1941), which I think Joe Brumm has seen, and had it in mind when working on 'Bluey.' Did you ever see that one? It's on TH-cam presently, and I recommend it. Oh, and 'Anchors Aweigh', Jerry the Mouse dancing with Gene Kelly almost certainly inspired Bingo's dance with Emma Memma in that Bluey short. What do you think?
I don't know if anyone has suggested this as a Socks theory, but perhaps she's neurodivergent in a way that humans can't be, but the dogs of the Blueyverse can. That sort of thing is a way for story writers to talk about growing up different without making specific reference to any particular human condition. It's like on Star Trek when the starship visits a planet with some strange problem that isn't the same as anything that's happened on Earth, but in a way kind of is. They can talk about it without really talking about it and still make a statement. So Socks doesn't behave as most baby dogs of the Blueyverse do, but nobody looks down on her or treats her poorly because of it (though they do try to stop her biting people, occasionally successfully). They accept her as she is. And that sends a message.
My favorite Bluey baby is Bluey because I think she's so cute! I was a little upset that she acted like a human baby and not a puppy though. And I do think Socks has autism. She starts barking when she's one year old and then she grows up and speaks in full sentences. She's like me. I really hope the next Heeler baby is another girl, so that Bluey and Bingo can have a younger sister. Her name would be Bluesy (because Darren Criss from Glee's daughter is named Bluesy, and it's an alternative to Bluey) or Belle (as in the Disney Princess). And I really hope you write another children's book but it's a retelling of Elf (the movie).

I like Socks...Kinda wished all the babies acted like that, even though they normally act like humans its just funny to see them grow from being regular puppies running on all fours and barking before learning how to stand up and talk. Its just funnier that way than having them act like human babies.
you can pretty easily excuse the puppy phase if you look at it as being the dog version of the terrible twos, so it's not as big a continuity issue as one might think

I think the dog brushing it might just be her as a toddler from being we had the word baby in it so you would clearly have to be a baby to have that form and then when you get order you, you learn how to walk like a dog until you’re ready to walk on allready to walk like a real boy character so she won’t be a toddler and then she wouldn’t be she. She would stop being a toddler after Africa of the Christmas episode.
I feel like it was easier for snickers to sit because he was shorter look at how long he got. Maybe he was learning to sit as a baby but as he grew it got more difficult cuz his body is longer
I haven’t seen all of the episodes yet, but from what I’ve seen my theory is that some dogs when they are little get into a “puppy era” and are able to walk on all 4. Then they just lose that ability (to naturally walk like that instead of just crawling) when they get older, as well as toning down the dog aspects some more. Just because whenever we see the adults pretending to being 4 legged animals, they crawl instead of just standing like real world dogs do. Who knows though, maybe there are dogs in the Bluey universe that never got to stand on two and just walk on 4 permanently or can easily switch between the two? Maybe even in dog behavior too? Although I’m not sure about that part.
All that being said though, I’m okay with Socks either having or not having autism, I just not sure if the puppy aspects are enough to show that it’s true or not without the writers confirming it in a episode or online. I’m no way an expert in the full range of the autism spectrum though, I just know a few people who are on it, so feel free to explain more aspects about it and it could apply to Socks. :)

Baby Snickers (and Snickers all around) is very cute----my personal favorite is Socks (i.e. when she goes 'Your nose, Da Da!) or when she squalls trying to get Muffin out of the way of the 'drawing thing' in 'Faceytalk.' I'm surprised 'Faceytalk' wasn't on your list--it's my favorite Bluey episode. By the way, much of Bluey's adventure content seems, to me, to be influenced by some of the classic animated films from the old Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios (i.e. the Tom and Jerry cartoons). One classic MGM film, by Hugh Harman, is 'The Little Mole' (1941), which I think Joe Brumm has seen, and had it in mind when working on 'Bluey.' Did you ever see that one? It's on TH-cam presently, and I recommend it. Oh, and 'Anchors Aweigh', Jerry the Mouse dancing with Gene Kelly almost certainly inspired Bingo's dance with Emma Memma in that Bluey short. What do you think?
I don't know if anyone has suggested this as a Socks theory, but perhaps she's neurodivergent in a way that humans can't be, but the dogs of the Blueyverse can. That sort of thing is a way for story writers to talk about growing up different without making specific reference to any particular human condition. It's like on Star Trek when the starship visits a planet with some strange problem that isn't the same as anything that's happened on Earth, but in a way kind of is. They can talk about it without really talking about it and still make a statement. So Socks doesn't behave as most baby dogs of the Blueyverse do, but nobody looks down on her or treats her poorly because of it (though they do try to stop her biting people, occasionally successfully). They accept her as she is. And that sends a message.

My favorite Bluey baby is Bluey because I think she's so cute! I was a little upset that she acted like a human baby and not a puppy though. And I do think Socks has autism. She starts barking when she's one year old and then she grows up and speaks in full sentences. She's like me. I really hope the next Heeler baby is another girl, so that Bluey and Bingo can have a younger sister. Her name would be Bluesy (because Darren Criss from Glee's daughter is named Bluesy, and it's an alternative to Bluey) or Belle (as in the Disney Princess). And I really hope you write another children's book but it's a retelling of Elf (the movie).

I like Socks...Kinda wished all the babies acted like that, even though they normally act like humans its just funny to see them grow from being regular puppies running on all fours and barking before learning how to stand up and talk. Its just funnier that way than having them act like human babies.
