Hey March - your weird algae may be something called :
Lyngbya sp. is a species of cyanobacteria whose colony takes on filamentous form, but still, it is a cyanobacteria. It is easily controlled with the antibiotic Azithromycin, at the dose of 1.0 mg / liter, applied once (single dose).
I found info on R2R on how to deal with this - not fun and nothing really seemed to eat it.

U a good boy March! 🥰🐶 my reef Casa be here soon, it in australia now, so depending how long it take to get off the ship and thru customs etc, we’ll after that stuff it should only take a few days to get to me, but customs etc could take a week or 2 more 🥰🐶 I so excited! I still gotta get some sand and rock, but the marine store sell premix salt water so I be able to get it running pretty quick once it here 🥰🐶

Amazing looking corals that the gentleman grows. Have a Halloween party with a reef tank costume theme. Get some seahorses, shrimp, corals and a starfish or 2 😂… great videos and your Canadian is showing through with the apologies lol 😛

I work at a lfs and our yellow tang that has been in the frag tank for years just started eating our candy canes as well as the cyphastria and other lps.

Funny, I was just watching last year's Halloween episode of tia' tanks while doing maintenance.
I've seen that redish whatever it is (algae?) in my tank. If you figure out what it is let us know! You are ABSOLUTELY correct of reefing being a CONSTANT LEARNING CURVE! Although you master it as you go, cause if you can teach it to a third grader you have definetly mastered it! Do the mystery box where they have to put their hands in it and guess what it is and the prize if they get it right is a coral or blindfold them and have them guess what they are grabbing or smelling
