Albuquerque has been an attachment to me since living there 1983-1984. It was as New Mexico, Land of Enchantment. Starting a new life after a broken marriage... It was a hell of a pick-me-up!

You keep trying young man there is a lot of natural beauty all over in the gorges and valleys water holes aplenty if you look for it. I'm proud to still have family out that way. It truly is enchanted. Do it soon.If you go look up look down put your head on a pivot . Take film and pictures and be good to our land and the critters, because in reality none of it is ours and in a very strange way that brings me so much hot damned joy. Something about that country keeps calling me back. The red dirt and the bright green brush, the corrals so old and squeaky with the wind, and stiff grey wrinkly like the old viejitos y los cayos en Los manos de Los hombres de vidas en otro Mundo pobres.
I also love this song and Jim Glaser. What made the song special for me was when I drove refer loads coast to coast from 2014 to 2017 I had to frequently stop at the Flying J for fuel and overnights. Good pizza spot next door. New Mexico was never my choice for a beautiful place….barren, no trees, no water, no colorful scenery (to me) some friends said the red clay hills were awesome beauty. Albuquerque always worried me because it appears to be plunked into a meteor crater, but I’m probably wrong. I did like the Highway into town though since it had all been upgraded, smoothed over and modernized. Every trip going in there I wished every highway was like Albuquerque’s .Then I’d get to California and the dream was gone entirely. My favorite song by Jim is “If I Could Only Dance With You “
Just found this song, it was meant to be. 45 years ago today I was in Albuquerque with my dog, cat, a sick husband and I was 38 weeks pregnant. I would have sold my soul to go back to the midwest. By spring all had changed. We were transferred to another state and I didn't want to go. I've spent years wishing I could go back.
Thank you for such a great video! I remember this song with my Grandpa driving back from Arizona to Wyoming in the 80's in his Dodge pickup on the AM radio. I'll always remember this one as a classic.

I heard that song a few years back when I was a visiting New Mexico as a tourist and loved it. If I ever leave my home state, I'd move to NM. It reminds me of the way things were several decades ago--uncrowded. The mountainous regions in the north are absolutely beautiful. I also rode the famous cable car.

In the 60 s when u came over 9 mile hill from the west u could see the pretty light of Albuquerque.
To see the lights from on top of the tram is one helluva spectacular sight!❤️
