Thanks for all the early engagement and comments as it was a little tough and emotional for me to make this video. Had to take it to the Scotiabank Saddledome to show the makeshift memorial as I live near there felt it was appropriate to make the video there. Going to take time to grieve through this and I'm sure the Calgary Flames, Columbus Blue Jackets and the NHL will do some kind of tribute when hockey season starts.

Thank you for a very respectful and informative video about Johnny Hockey. I'm from the United States and live about 200 miles from where Johnny grew up and regrettably died. I have always liked the Calgary Flames for some reason, even if it's thousands of miles away. I followed Johnny at Boston College and am from the Boston area. You could always count on him to come through with that clutch goal for BC. Johnny won the Hobey Baker award for being the best college player in the country, as well as winning the National championship with the BC Eagles. I even like to be the Calgary Flames when I play video games and even won my last game, just after hearing the tragic news, with Johnny Gaudreau scoring the game-winner late. R.I.P. Johnny and his brother Matthew.

Glad that you've enjoyed the video even if it's not to best of circumstances. Thanks for the insight and memories of Johnny Gaudreau before he made it to the NHL. Can only imagine the mood at tone there back at home when the whole family was supposed to be together for a wedding only and not a wedding with a grieving too.

This tragedy can be a lesson for people. Dont drink and drive, and tell those you care about that you love them. You never know when they will be gone.
Thanks for doing this video Brett.
    RIP Mathew, and Johnny

Sadly it is not a lesson, it continues to happen over and over, until they change sentencing for these crimes nothing is going to change, I've had a family member killed years ago from a drunk, they are out living their life free, heart goes to Johnny and Matthew's families, those kids lost alot that night

Glad that I've gotten to do this video and felt it was more appropriate to take it on the go given I live near the Scotiabank Saddledome. Wouldn't of been the same if I made the video at home.

The coverage here in America isn't really much outside of Columbus, Philly and Jersey. I've come to see how close knit the hockey community is north of the border. Calgary really seems to love Johnny and it seems like Johnny loved Calgaey. He left to be closer to family but seems to have quite an extended family in Calgary.

Both hockey markets looked saddened and shocked by it. Would say it was larger in Calgary when I watched the livestreams. When I recorded the makeshift memorial was a quarter of the size.

It was tough to see and Johnny Gaudreau said it was a tough decision but he had that right at the time. Still could of not waited until at the very last second.

Connor McDavid was my second best. Johnny u were my first. I live in Columbus Ohio and I live in New Jersey also for people drinking in New Jersey is the worst and I work with the police and see it all the time people drinking while they drive and crashing if you never came to your sister's wedding who knows what would happen God has his reasons Johnny I died three times brought back to life. Seen heaven once out of three times and i talk to Jesus sending me home it is beautiful up there I wanted to stay but he wouldn't let me till its my time. So I know you're doing good Johnny it is beautiful up there I wanted to stay he wouldn't let me and everybody was so young my grandmother was standing right at the gate and he froze me so i know you and your brother are happy I seen the other world one time it's so beautiful up there. I hope you can give your family strength to get through this and what I saw I knew you can I know I will miss you in Columbus Ohio watching the Blue jackets I do love my hockey i played hockey about 20 years. I went all through the league from Pee-wee all the way up from bantams two kaha through high school to college because I wanted to go with the NHL and I got killed brought back to life from a 30,000 lb mixer truck rear-ended me cracking my neck ending my hockey career
Rest in peace brother Johnny hockey
