I prefer Ditra instead of cement board for tile over plywood, but that cement board will work fine. That mortar may rub right off that wall paint; Try a wet rag.

A plumbers trick with toilet paper, when you make connection and your not sure if there's a leak or not take a piece of TP and run it around if it gets wet you have a leak. I'm turning our back bedroom AK the junk room into our freeze dryer/canning room. A laminate floor cabinets on both sides, LP stove top, 2nd freezer, sink and plenty of cabinets for if shtf. We have been doing freeze dried candy lately and doing very good.

I think that short wall of the shelving should be orange. It seems confusing and will look more like a built-in. That empress teal is my favorite so far, it’s a great space!
