Omg I love these nails!!! You just gave me so many ideas with this video!!! I’m a beginner who’s looking to start school soon I hope. I’ve been doing my own nails for a while but I really want to get my license so I can do nails on clients. I love doing nails!! It’s so therapeutic
Thank you. That really does mean a lot I have my own studio in my home and it’s my nail and makeup room. I could totally take clients now if I was licensed lol I get compliments on my nails all the time and people are always shocked that I’ve done them myself. That always makes me feel good when they say that. I’m just glad that a school finally opened an acrylic course locally to me. Before I would have had to have gone 200 miles away and stayed there for over 6 months to try and get my certification. Now it’s about 45 minute drive. I can handle that. Thank you for making my day a little brighter.
WOW! I love this-great job!!!! I love Light Elegance products-their builder gels, buttercreams, and, YES, the super shiny topcoat are my favorites. Also, their glitter gels are phenomenal! ❤️
Nice!!! U didn't miss a beat. I am about to do a set for the 1st time in a couple of years too!! 😂🎉❤ I hope mine turnout as good as ours do... loved them. Perfect 👌
Thank you for making this video and the set turned out beautifully! Nail Tech here - I realized after watching that I do all the same things when applying forms to customize them for clients and sometimes it takes a little bit of time to do this and I get worried that I'm taking too long, but this is all worth it in the end for the best fit to the clients natural nails! Just out of curiosity, how long did this set take?
Thank you! For timing I can’t give an accurate answer on this exact set, because filming adds a lot of extra time, but I would usually book about 2-2.5 hours for a full set.
Hi Katie, thanks so much for this video! Can you tell me around how long the full set took? I am at a little over 2 hours for a set of extensions, and I feel like that’s probably too long.
Is primer and bonder the same thing? Also can you do a video of how you maintain hard gel nails? Like for acrylics, we do fill ins when it’s time for a new set, is that what you do with these as well?
Yes you fill hard gel just like acrylic. You don’t need to ever completely remove the nails unless the client no longer wants their nails done. Primer and bonders are different. There are different kind of primers, acid which will chemically etch the nail and non-acid which acts like a double sided sticky tape. Bonders are gels that have bonding agents in them that bond to the natural nail keratin.
These are so beautiful! I just did a full set of sculpted nails on myself and I haven’t done that in a long time either! Most of my clients just do builder on natural nails. How would you compare the Lexy line to Trinity?
Well the Lexy Line as a whole has all different types of gels. This one in particular, the Extreme, is quite a bit thicker than Trinity so its easier for extensions.
Please let me know the retention on this set. I was loving the Lexy Line, but it didn't last more than a week on the 2 clients I put it on. Yes I was prepping as instructed 😊
I *love* the forms, but ended up switching because I actually ended up ripping some of my own skin off, trying to remove a form from my finger. The idea of accidentally doing that to a client terrified me. I may need to try these again, as I have more experience now.
@@NailsByKatieDutra aw thankyou🤗m frm sydney. I recently started applying builder gel at home cause my nails are very thin and always breaking. I go buffing-dehydrator-primer-basegel-buildergel-top gel. Are these too much layers because it always come off within few days especially from the tip 😔and yes i am a healthcare worker so i wash hand a lot. 😅
I use the builder to protect my nails for pressons sometimes but the builder gel kept lifting at the free edge EVERY time. It drives me crazy. Ill try to creat txture first and see if the hold. thanks.
Yes try and and make sure to scrub Tack in to the natural nail. Also filing the free edge after the gel application can help. File a little bit underneath and it will help tuck the natural nail behind the gel. 💖
This isn't Gel-X this is sculpted gel. The difference is gel x is like a false tip. That uses soft gel underneath the nail and gel x tip. Sculpted gel is when you use hard or soft gel with sculpting forms underneath the natural nail and build the nail out with the soft gel or hard gel. Just fyi
I’m confused.. no where in this video do I say this is Gel-X. It’s definitely not. The title of the video says “hard gel on forms” 😅 This is sculpted extensions.
Personal preference. I don’t prefer to use tips. This is more customized to the clients natural nails and won’t breakdown like glue. If you prefer tips, go for it!
Your tutorial makes so much more sense than the other ones I’ve seen. Thank you so much!
I'm so glad! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🩷
The ideal pink looks dark in the beginning and then after the art is added it looks so natural, love that as a base color!! 🧡🩷❤ Such a fun design 😍
I agree! It looks a little dark but it has such a nice semi-opaque natural look 🙌🏻
Thank you for doing a set w shorter nail beds!! I have looked and not many out there..the set is beautiful ❤
Yesss! I knew her nails would be a good transformation 😍 this color definitely extended her nail beds and looked gorgeous on her
@@NailsByKatieDutra they really do! Thank you! ❤️
Light Elegance is hands down the BEST ✨✨✨
They do have some great products 😄🫶🏻
Your sculpting turned out beautifully- well done 👏 😀. My favourite viscosity and colour-perfect combo. Thank you for sharing this with us. 😊
Thank you! Sculpted extensions can really transform the nails! 😍 I agree this color is gorgeous.
Absolutely love your nail art with these colors! Great job and so glad you got to build out some extensions again!
Thank you!! 😊
Ok I love these new colors 👀 if you haven't see it, the new "Mercury Meltdown" is probably my new favorite! It's such a good rose gold glitter! ✨

Hello I love this. Can you please share which diamond bit?You use to remove her old gel? What specific one do you use and what grit plz 😊
You build so beautifully!! Your work is so meticulous, freaking goals 💖
Thank you so much! 🥹 I try to be detailed in my work so I appreciate the comment. 🩷 thanks for watching!
By far the best base pink on the market. I LOVE LE!
WOW! I love this-great job!!!! I love Light Elegance products-their builder gels, buttercreams, and, YES, the super shiny topcoat are my favorites. Also, their glitter gels are phenomenal! ❤️
Great Job. LE Extreme is a great helper.. love it. I usually use builder then, extreme on next layer - depending on length.
I totally enjoyed this video. Not bad. I would have never guessed you haven't done a full set in yrs❤
You’re awesome and I like listening to you! You explain every little thing so well! Thank you!
Thank you! Im glad it can be helpful 🥰
Love 💕 it.. You would never be able to tell that you don’t sculpt out full sets all that often.
That means a lot coming from you! 😆 You definitely have a lot more experience in that department than I do 🩷

That hard gel applied like magic 😍 which brand is it?
Amazing skills btw!!
I love it! The ideal pink is gorgeous! You did amazing work! They look gorgeous! 🙂🙂💖
Thank you so much! I agree, its such a gorgeous shade and looks so natural 😍
I love Light Elegance - it quickly replaced any other hard gel brands I j have. The Extreme literally, IMO, forms itself!
GORGEOUS...I love the ideal pink...
Me too!! Thank you 🫶🏻🥰
You did an amazing job! They look sooo good
Thank you so much! 💖

Wow! Nice job!! They came out gorgeous!! ❣️
I might have to invest in light elegance. I’m an acrylic artist but I interested. Great job
It’s always fun to try new products!

So beautiful!!!!!! ❤❤
Thank you!!
Great video!!!! Just got my ideal extreme today, so so excited to play with it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Very pretty!!!!
Thank you! 😊
So curious about what diamond file you use to remove the gel polish! I never considered a diamond for that and don’t love using a sanding band
I used a diamond tapered barrel! And I used medium grit 😄
Is there a tutorial on brush care? Because I feel like I always have a giant mess trying to handle hard gel with the brush

Cure the tack primer? I’ve never heard of doing that! Always love your designs! ❤
Yes, Tack must be cured! It’s a UV/LED cured bonder.
Do you have the link to purchase the gel
How long did this set take you?? Stunning!!
It's hard for me to say exactly because filming adds a lot of extra time. 😅
Hi Katie, thanks so much for this video! Can you tell me around how long the full set took? I am at a little over 2 hours for a set of extensions, and I feel like that’s probably too long.
Because of filming, it adds a lot of extra time, so I can’t give an accurate time on this exact set. For a full set I would usually book around 2hrs.
Hi Katie, great video, they came out great! May I ask how long it took you to complete this set?
I can't really give an accurate time because the filming process adds a lot of extra steps/time. So it takes me quite a bit longer!
Great work! 😍
Thank you! 😄

Just saw her 3 weeks later and they still looked great! 🙌🏻
Hi, Katie. Can you use the Super Shiny, if you used gel polish for the art, instead of the buttercreams?
Yes that’s fine, as long as your base is hard gel or acrylic. ☺️
Do these products and cleanser have a harsh smell?
What do you dip the brushes into to cñeam them from the gel? 🤔
You don’t. Just squeeze the brush in between a clean wipe. You can never get gel completely out of a brush. 🩷🫶🏻
How does the Light Elegance compare to Akzentz SW1?
Do you remove the tacky layer after extending the nails/ before sculpting?
Nope!
I *love* the forms, but ended up switching because I actually ended up ripping some of my own skin off, trying to remove a form from my finger. The idea of accidentally doing that to a client terrified me. I may need to try these again, as I have more experience now.
Wow those must be really sticky!! You could always add a tiny drop of cuticle oil, just on the skin to help remove it if it was stuck. 😆
Do we have to cure primer also?😅 and did you cure individual finger after applying extension?
This primer you need to cure, and yes I cured each extension and then switched to the other hand working back and forth

what nail file are you using? :)
You did such a good job…The link to the colors isn’t working..
Hmm all the links are working on my side 😅
👌🏼
Do you know what your actual time was for this service?
I don’t, filming adds a lot of extra time 😊
Why is the pot already half empty if you haven’t used it yet?
The B-roll clip (where I’m showing it close up) was filmed after I did the set of nails.
No cuticle care?
I definitely did detailed cuticle work! I think it’s pretty obvious from the before and after that they were cleaned up 👌🏻

why not just put tips on and gel over? This seems like a lot of work for the same result in half the time.
