Every Vai solo in this is different with a few repeating themes. And every time I see a new one I think it's the best one ever. Here I am once again saying this is the best one ever!
I still prefer the version at the Egg in Albany, but perhaps that is because that is the first one I saw live. When his guitar started "flying" through the air, I lost it. I hadn't had that kind of reaction since seeing Adrian from the first row at Mandel Hall in Chicago on the Discipline tour. Totally blew my mind (and my ear drums). 😁
Very very, very beautiful sound on your recording - the best I've heard of all BEAT Sheltering Sky's here on YT so far. All the instruments can be heard so very clearly.. (so much it made me get the crazy idea that this was a professional recording made for later DVD release from the Tour.. also the filming is v pro ;-) .. whicheverway, thank you so much! Oh yes, also wanted to praise the particularly nice Vai solos AND an absolutely wonderful, close to otherworldly Vai-Belew mid-section unison on this take - ain't we lucky :-)
Everybody knows Steve Vai designed his guitars, but he must think warm bénédictions for the ones who make his strings. And the ones who keeps his guitars in an Olympic shape.
Steve is amazing and I cant stop listening to the sheltering sky versions and the one I saw in October
He may be the greatest ever!

This song is amazing. Long live Crimson, Adrian, Vai, Tony, Danny, Fripp and everyone in this amazing musical trip.
Esta musica la escucho desde 1981 y descubro hasta la mas minima variacion pero me parece perfecta cada interpretacion de BEAT
Grandes músicos
I was there :)
