That “lifter” tick sounds like my old 289… it surfaced after running it REAL HARD one night.. chased it for months (rockers, lifters, pushrods ect).. it would go away, then show back up At different RPMs… discovered it was a valve guide…
It seemed to me it was hard to start once it was warm, which to me says timing advanced too much. I'd double check their timing procedure.....good to see it running though. I am interested to see how this ACES system works out for you in the long run, as I'm considering it for a near-future build.
It’s definitely the battery, it’s not charging, and think I figured it out. When the fans come on they kill it. Also we think the starter is sketch too. It came with the car. Didn’t sound the greatest, but better in this engine.
If pushrod length is off it can definitely hit under the rocker in the trunion area or rocker can hit the edge of the retainer etc, worth checking for sure.
Good job! You had us all stumped 😂. You could put antisieze all over the rockers and then start the engine with the valve covers on to see if they are hitting. How much preload are you setting them to (turns/thousandths)?
@@funkystangs2843 Well that should be plenty. Yeah, look like tin man, or forget you put it on there and pull the valve cover and freak out lol - been there done that
That's weird. The killshot doesn't come with a book. Just a page about what distributors it doesn't work with. An here I am getting ready to install the system in my truck
I have an original 1990 Mustang owner manual. You need an ignition that has power on crank. In the manual it says fuse #18 powers the tach. Which of course has power on crank. Use an add a circuit.
@@shthpns22 i stole power from the starter relay to power a smaller relay for clean power straight from the battery…..although my mustang is a ‘67 but similar with the famous ford relay setup
How do you like that Glowshift oil pressure guage? I really want one, but I'm not sure if I wanna spend $100 on one. Car is coming along nicely man, good job!

Hey funky. I have a question about the aces efi system as ive got mine installed. Ive got a 93 mustang gt, did a moter swap dropped a 351 windsor down in there. Looks like we used alot of the same parts. the car turnes over acts like its pulling hell of power to where lights n stuff start dimming, but has yet to stay running. Just got the hand held back first one i got was a bad one so he sent me another one. Any knowledge u can help me with. As to why it only turnes over but eant actually run. Its getting fuel ive confirmed that.. I need alittle advice.
Sounds like the timing issue I had. I believe it’s page 30 in the manual. You have to follow those instructions. But you have to lock out your distributor first
So appears I'm not getting any spark . besides the coolent temp censor are there other censors u would need to install that's not built into the killshot.

Way to go Funky!! Troubleshooting things like that is so much fun! Glad it was you. I mean glad you got it!! 😂

If you’re on the dash mode you can just hold down the icon in the top right and you can switch back and forth

the noise you hear from your rockers is from the rocker needs a minor relief from the push rod. mine did the same thing.
If pushrod length is off it can definitely hit under the rocker in the trunion area or rocker can hit the edge of the retainer etc, worth checking for sure.
I measured pushrod length. Stock. I say it’s the $120 linked lifters🤣🤣eBay Baby!!

I love it. They aren’t the cheapest, nor the most expensive. Middle of the road, but are really gauges.
The belt wrap on the alternator pulley doesn’t look right, I could see that hindering charging. Sorry if you already fixed this

Im thinking about getting an EFI for my 64 Impala chevy 350 ... how do u lile the Aces and do you recomend it or go with a different brand?
I would recommend it. Holley is too expensive and their ECU is attached to it. Lots of people had problems. Never mount an ECU on top of a hot box
