In Once album song book there is a one page explanation for each of the songs in the album. Written by Tuomas himself. Also reading "Once upon a Nightwish" book gives a lot of perspective to motives behind many of their songs.

Tuomas wrote this song when he was angry at drunk guys hitting on his girlfriend in a bar. It's mostly just creative venting at morons, but if getting angry results in such songs, he should get angry more often.

Nightwish has 9 studio albums, 5 of them with Tarja, the first vocalist. She stayed in the group from the beginning until 2005. "Once" is the band's fifth album, and the last with Tarja. Anette is the second vocalist. She recorded 2 albums and was in the group from 2007 to 2012. Floor is the current one, and also recorded 2 studio albums. She joined Nightwish in 2012, initially as a temporary member. Many of the songs most loved by fans were originally recorded by Tarja, although most of the new fans, especially in the USA, know them through Floor. Just as you recognized some songs on "Once", you may also recognize others from other albums from Tarja's time, without ever having heard her sing. Nightwish is a well known band in Europe and Latin America since the late 90's. The group started to enter the American market with the album Once, and has been growing gradually since then in the USA. Many of the American fans had their first contact with the band already at the time of Floor. Each vocalist has a very different style and they are excellent in their own way. Preferring one another is a matter of personal taste. As you are used to Floor, possibly the other vocalists will sound strange when hearing them for the first time. This is normal. I don't know many good live performances with Anette here on youtube to indicate, but she did an excellent job in the studio. I love the studio version of "Song of myself", a music from the album "Imaginaerum". Tarja has several excellent live performances here on TH-cam. As a first suggestion, I indicate "The Phantom of the Opera", recorded on the DVD "End of an Era". It's iconic. There is an old video, with over 70 million views, however recently the band made the same presentation available on their own channel, but with better audio and image quality.
