The description is misleading. ML didn't kick FL out. She preemptively broke up with him when she heard his first love, Samantha, was returning. She also got a call from said first love warning her off. The additional telling moment for her was when having been given 2 watches for his birthday, one from her and the other from Samantha, ML chose to wear Samantha's.
