Very timely video - my pool will be empty to core out new return lines - I’m hoping to dilute with water and spray on walls and floor while they do the coring. 👍🇨🇦
It’s going to depend on how much metals or organics get in your pool. You can also use a product called metal out that will strip most metals and organics from your pool.
@@ClearlySeen awesome, thanks for responding… I’m waiting on my ascorbic acid to arrive any minute now. Can’t wait to try it! If I buy more, I’ll use your link.
It works the same for vinyl pools and plaster. And if you watch the video, it’s the same process. If it’s on the bottom of the pool, just shut the pool off until the water is not moving so it will sink directly to the spot.
Some staining may take longer for that to go away. I would wait a day or two and see what it looks like and then possibly re-treat it with some don’t overuse it because it is an acid in it will lower the pH if you do so.
Thanks, helpful video. I have a 45000L pool, that has stubborn stains all over.. what should be the full process. Stop filtration, add how much? Leave the pump off, how long? Thanks again
You can keep your pool running just sprinkle some around the pool. You do not want to overdo it. Sometimes people will overuse this and it will cause the chlorine to be zeroed out and then Possible turning cloudy so my advice would be to sprinkle around the pool about 1 pound of it, and wait a day or two to see what the results are. Then you would repeat the process if you’re getting good results with the type of stains you have.
Ok Thanks, what I ment in my question will it remove both kinds of metal stainsI bought the 10lb citric acid, I will be using it soonI..hope it will remove all stains... used ascorbic acid last year comes out right away but that yellow color around my pool keeps coming back and like you said in your video very expensive
No scrubbing required usually stains will not even come up with any type of brushing. They need a acid to remove them. The one in the video works extremely well!
@ClearlySeen my plastic stairs are yellow was wondering if it penitrates the 4th step with is pretty deep thought you would have to scrub a little .thanks I ll try it
Also, if it’s ever above the water what you would want to do is use a glove, some protective covering for your hand. Sprinkle a little bit and add just a little bit of water. You can use a brush in that situation to move it around but remember it needs water to work properly
You’ll need to shock, a few chlorine pucks in skimmer, and add 1/2 gal. liquid chlorine to pool after 24hrs of ascorbic treatment because ascorbic acid neutralizes chlorine.
It’s best to make sure the chlorine is not extremely high when using it although I have treated a lot of pools with high chlorine and it still worked so if your pool is above to 3ppm then I would go ahead and lower it down some for it to be most effective.
It will treat any stain in the pool as long as it’s below the water line so you’re gonna need to fill the pool up above the area and put the treatment in
What I usually recommend is putting in maybe 2 pounds sprinkling it around your pool with the pump off for a little while then turned it on and typically it will treat the whole pool but you may need to reapply it it’s going to go by the size of your pool.
So with any type of acid, you don’t want to overuse it. Typically the pH will drop if you use too much at one time when you say it’s not absorbing it could you clarify what you mean.
Great video. I have a fiberglass pool and my stains are all over the pool bottom and on the walls from not covering the pool this past year. Brushing does not remove them. Could I add the citric acid and let the pool circulate for a day or so to remove all the stains all over the pool? Or should i just broadcast and leave pump off? I know you said off for the video you just made but i am not sure that doing it off would it remove the stains on the walls.
Yes, I would put in a small amount. Sprinkle it around the pool. Check the next day and repeat the process. Make sure not to put too much or it will wipe out the chlorine.
i thought we had to get chlorine level down to lowest level prior to citric acid app. That's why i do it in the winter when I can't manufacture chlorine in my salt pool. @@ClearlySeen
I used this method and used half of a 5 pound bag and the pool looks amazing . My only worry is it safe for my clients to swim in now since o used so much ? His pool was in very bad shape
You’re not gonna want to have anybody swimming on the day of putting the treatment in but I would go ahead and raise the pH and the total alkalinity because both of those should have dropped significantly.

That stuff REALLY works!! Took 48 hours....but stains are gone! I got that brand on Amazon. Wear gloves...it burns a little.
What is the difference in Citric acid and ascorbic acid?

Worked like magic! How often should I poor to prevent future stains and how much?
Thank you. I was wondering how I was going to get rid of the yellow at the water line that I couldn't get off
Thanks my stairs looks amazing it did take over 3 days for the wall stain and stains at the bottom but my pool is back
What did u do to remove the cloudy water...I just did mine and it looks great but my water looks cloudy
You can use a clarifier to help with that, but just run the pool overnight filtering.
Does it last, or do the stains come back?

wow - great tip - and great price - thanks so much - just ordered from the Zon
I'm going to give it a try! I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks!
Do I have to shut off the filter and how long do I have to keep it off
I would keep it off for about an hour or two until the staining goes away!
I tried but did not go away
I meant the stain never went away they are kind of a dark

Hi, does Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid do the same thing?
Both work good although I prefer citric due to zero phosphates the ascorbic acid contains phosphates which technically is the food for algae.
Did you have to reduce the chlorine or Free chlorine levels prior to using?
I would make sure it’s at the proper levels which is around 3-5ppm.
Will it remove both metal and copper.
Your best bet for medals is going to be metal out by regal. You can find that on Amazon.

How long after is it safe to be in the pool?
I would wait a few hours before swimming.
I used ascorbic acid to remove stains from my pool and it worked great only now I can't get the chlorine level up anymore

Is it safe for salt water pools too? I just converted mine to salt water for chlorine. My steps look like yours!
Yes it’s safe for all pools.
Will this work with pool liner
Yes works the same for the whole pool!
Is this for fiberglass pools and will it help the stains at the water line?
It will treat any stain in the pool as long as it’s below the water line so you’re gonna need to fill the pool up above the area and put the treatment in
Do the stains just come right back in a week or two?
The stains can come back. If you have a lot of metals in the pool I suggest if that happens to use a product called metal out.
You have to use a sequestering agent like “blue out” and also a CUlator to filter out the metals that come off the walls of the pool.
Correction “blue stuff”
How long will the citric acid stay in the pool? Will it dissipate in time like chlorine does?
The citric acid once put in the pool doesn’t stay in there long before it’s neutralized.
How do I get stains of worms and leaves that appeared this year when I opened my pool in the shallow end and deep end of my pool liner ??
Please check my pool stain video I show you how to remove them!
Does any brand of citric acid work or this specific brand?
If you pour 5lbs or more in the pool will it work on stains that are on the walls?
What I usually recommend is putting in maybe 2 pounds sprinkling it around your pool with the pump off for a little while then turned it on and typically it will treat the whole pool but you may need to reapply it it’s going to go by the size of your pool.
@@ClearlySeen ok cool thank you. I wasn’t sure if it would clean stains that the powder didn’t touch in large amounts like your example.
Hi the filter is full of some gunk did I use too much of the citric acid? What should I do because no mater what I put in it's not absorbing it
So with any type of acid, you don’t want to overuse it. Typically the pH will drop if you use too much at one time when you say it’s not absorbing it could you clarify what you mean.
Everything I put in the I put chlorine it doesn't show I shocked it and it still doesn't show any chlorine whatsoever
What is your stabilizer level? Also how many hours a day are you running your pool.
8 hours a day
Stabilizer a dont show but I put it in the water is a little cloudy
Have you used this for gunite pools that have a pebble sheen surface where stains are darker? Or do you recommend something else?
Yes it works good on all services.

Thanks I will go balance the water
What happens when you accidentally dump the 10 pound bag into your pool? 😬
That’s going to strip your pool of chlorine more than likely and also it’s going to lower the pH in total alkalinity
My pool is salt water
This works on All Pools as well as standard pools
Citic acid and ascorbic acid are not the same thing.
Agreed
