Boats began shipping at the end of September. We had to make sure that the drive worked flawlessly before we could send it out. YOu should see you boat VERY soon
The boat has a scupper designed specifically to fit a transducer and two large pieces of gear track that work perfectly as a place to mount the head unit. (same part the pedal drive locks in to, we left it longer just for the transducer) Barring that, there is more gear track, and flat areas for gear track if you like your unit to be closer to you. Jim Sammons and Jameson Redding both had full dragonfly units with us on our shoots in Louisiana, installed them in minutes and had no complaints. As for the battery, if you mount it where it was designed to mount, at your feet, you can store it under the hatch and safe in the hull of the boat with minimal exposed cables. If you have other suggestions for how you would prefer fishfinders/transducers mounted on our boats, I can pass them along to the design team!
I agree Wesley it seems like it was over looked or just not a very good design. I saw an idea from somewhere where this guy mounted his fish finder to his battery box and mounted the transducer off of the battery box and just swung it over the side. Kind of like all these other kayaks have these sonar pods or whatever they call it but you just mount it on a rail. So that way you can just take the battery box off the rail and everything comes with it. Seems like a pretty good idea to me if you can't or don't like how the transducer would be mounted to the bottom of the kayak. But for an expensive kayak I would like to see something a little better than what they have. What if you had a side view? Mounting it up in this scupper hole might not work to well.
Minimal cord exposure from the mounting area to the transducer scupper. If you mount it where it was designed to mount (The gear track on either side of the pedal drive) you have easy access to the hatch in which to store your battery. It is very close to the system we have on most of our boats, and I am sure we will have team videos in the next few weeks showing you how easy it is to mount.
Drackkor hobie kayaks weigh like a metric ton when you're trying to move them around Jackson kayaks tend to be more light weight and very stable from my experience with an older coosa model
And for the old town predator it looks like a nice stable fishing kayak it seems similar to the jackson big rig which is a VERY stable kayak even has a bar to lean against I recommend looking it up
Yea but do we have to take out a second mortgage to buy it?
If only I could afford one. I would love to have 2 of these. Very nice
I fish around a lot of stumps and timber, and I think this is perfect because the prop comes up on contact.
We're having demo days here in the "Hurricane Harvey Kayak Navy" Houston area in Oct. Any chance one of these will be there to check out? Thanks
really like that yak, would love to see it in lime green and black camo ,looking to get one but not feeling those colors
What kind of warranty and maintenance is needed for the drive?
How does the FD fair offshore and in the surf? Im considering it for that pur2.
Will we see a big rig FD next year ?
wish the regular Coosa HD had the same rod tubes like this and the Mayfly
How much height is under the seat when in the high position? To consider this kayak I need room for a tournament bag.
I will ask the design team for you! Stay tuned!
Jackson Kayak actually all you need to do is make the tankwell bigger. We all use AO 36 coolers down here in La.
Ordered mine from FTU almost 6 months ago... Any guess on when people will actually be able to pick these up???

What about a transducer mount? Any special place designed for it?
yeah it looks like they totally overlooked that aspect

Questo Kayak spacca di brutto... Lo voglio!...
How much the kayak Indian rupees
Me gusta... ok, es perfecto!
Looks like it would eventually have issues lock it in place. Cheap made but cost big money!!!!
No provisions for a transducer? Hmmm
Yup, it has the same transducer scupper that is in most of the jackson fleet
so the cords for it will be on the floor board?

Why are Jackson Kayak's so expensive? Are they better than the old town predator and the Hobbie?

@@wyattfrank7291 Hobie Pro Angler 12 is only 13 pounds heavier.
@@DonnyAngler 13 lbs is a big difference when it comes to similar fishing kayaks
I'll take a solo Skiff
