I always used to 'side flick' the players when I played Subbuteo as a kid decades ago. I'm wanting to get back into it now, interesting to learn all the rules properly as an adult! thanks! :)
Hi Michael, yes that is definitely allowed. That is one technique that is used to shoot and get power when shooting. That's probably the only time you would ever need to do that. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Can you use the pitch to propel your flicking finger, like dig it into the pitch for power? I saw a vid of a match and one guy used his thumb to help is index finger flick he was very tricky with it. He curled his thumb at the last second to hold the index finger back. Are these illegal?

Using the pitch to propel the figure for a high powered shot is fine. Using the thumb is illegal.
