Great tutorial as always Justin! One point to mention on filling it up is if the system is gravity fed from a tank in the loft, or whether it’s a combi boiler. If it’s a combi boiler, it’ll need topping up to replenish what was drained out. Perhaps another tutorial in the future?😀
Good tutorial. Ive just got this fitted But haven't got any instructions how to operate the 2 dials at the bottom. can you tell me what way to turn them and which each one do please?
I'm a total novice at DIY so might be a silly question but those rad valves at the bottom. How do you get the caps off. Do you just pull them off? I have a small leak under the cap which I imagine but be coming from the brass inside but not sure how to expose it
Justin thanks for this great video, I need to paint wall behind such radiator. This helped me a lot. You may consider Knipex pliers wrench 86 05 250. So convenient for any size of nut. Fast adjust. Smooth jaws. And it can generate insane pressure between jaws if you need, great for bending/streightening wires, sheet metal etc. I have them, love them, not cheap but worh every cent.
I'm on the other side of the pond so I actually had to Google WTH it was that you were working on 🤦♂️🤭 lol. I was TODAY YEARS OLD when I found out there was such a thing as a towel warmer! Yours is piped in & I found the same here that are electric. Either plug 🔌 in or hard wired in 🤷♂️. Thanks for the info! As they say, we never stop learning, lol. If I ever need my towels warmed up I know they exist 👍!!
Tbf it's for a radiator as well mate and it's plumbed into the same system as the rest of the radiators in our houses so not only does it warm the rooms up but also your towels which is very nice! If you haven't got radiators or other options in your house I'd just go for electric but I would imagine they use a lot of power!
@@LethallyReptardedmost American homes have forced air for heating so that's probably why most wouldn't have heard of a towel heater especially 1 that's plumbed in.
Really useful video. Thanks! I tried to call a plumber to do this work on 5 radiators but it is impossible to get one. I am already at the fifth plumber that came to assess the work and disappeared. I decided I will do it by myself.!
Hi . When taking off the radiator is there anything you must do first concerning a combi boiler as most videos I've watched only talks about this but does not show you and I'm the type of guy that takes note when I'm showing what to do .
Provided there are input and output valves (which you'd lock shut prior to removal), you should not need to turn off any other water taps. If for whatever reason input/output valves were omitted, you would need to turn of the water supply to the heating system only and drain the heating system down first. If you need to do the latter scenario and are not experienced, I really would get a plumber in and save yourself a lot of potential trouble.
Anyone knows how what size spanner I need to undo the radiator tails from a tower rad like this? I'm replacing mine but want to keep the old tails as the new rad doesn't come with them...
Clean water is actually the most corrosive. Once the water is black it’s best to use a magmove type system and run the water through that. Don’t replace it with clean water. This will remove the metal particles and then just whack some more inhibitor in and bobs your uncle
Thanks! This is just what I’m trying to do - it looks a bit fiddly but definitely do-able! My system is a combi - do I need to refill the radiator when I replace it as @markmc11 mentions above?
I am just about to do my first radiator replacement, great video
Great demonstration. I need to this to decorate very soon
Very well announced now I can change my radiator 👏🤙
Thank you
Thanks for this man, I just bought a new towel rail to replace an old rusted one and hopefully it's as straight forward for me!!
No problem, hope it goes well
Just what I needed, thanks. Also, your job looks great.
@@stormvent2572 Fabtastic. And thank you

Hey man, thanks for the praise 👏
Yes good point. My boiler is not a combi, and yes it did need topping up and bleeding.
How do you know how much water is in the system and whether or not it needs topping up after doing this. I have a system boiler. Thanks 😊

Great video .Well done ✅
Thank you for this video, very good instruction. Anyway I love the wall paint colour as well, I'm not a fan of blue but this is beautiful !

Really helpful. Thank you.
This is a brilliant video that served me well, thank you mate 🙏🏻
Brilliant, really helpful. I've done rads before but not a towel rad. Great explanation of best way to drain. You're a star.
Glad it helped
Great video - thanks

Very helpful thanks… Would you use thread tape before you do it back up?
Very well and simply explainrd video!

Spot on mate. Thanks for the knowhow 👍
Great video, very useful. Thanks
Thank you 😁
brilliant . Thank you!
cool - just what i needed
Do you recommend any PTFE on the valve connections with the towel rail itself?

That's great, with a little confidence and know how, some of these types of jobs aren't so scary!
They're too busy to bother with smaller jobs these days! Without YT I'd be completely stuck!
Great video. Do I need to use plumber’s tape to secure that there are no leaks?
Would be a good idea 👍
Many thx much appreciated
Does it matter how much you open the valves at the bottom after placing the rad back on?

Can these towel rail but upside down too?
Don’t you have to top up
Boiler pressure afterwards ?
would you turn the water off at the mains before doing this or will turning the valves off be enough?
Maybe a bit late but the valves will be enough if they work
Do you have to turn the water off in the home first?

@VickersDoorter how do we know if there are input/output valves please? No idea what they are
I think I could do this myself. 👍

I hate that these don’t have a drain valve
You didn't show how you fitted the new wall brackets in the right places.

Sorry for late response, yes you do.
