As a 72 year old Bradfordian, with resticted mobility these days, you provide the only way that i can access these magnifcent venues. Thankyou for doing what you do. You are a Champion fella.
Thanks Alan
I've been to city hall a few times but never took the time to admire the decor and architecture. Thanks for the tour showing me everything I missed.
I've been to Hull City Hall a few times to service their theatre lighting dimmers. It truly is a beautiful building.
A wonderful piece thank you. Hull is an under rated city in terms of glorious architecture and its historic legacy.
You cannot beat a Sunday evening when you get a notification for a new video. Especially a long one!
Yeah. Possibly my longest yet
Spooky scenes, mysterious doors, secret stairways, hell, the only things missing were abutments. Thanks Darren.
As a Hullian it is always great to see my city. Thank you Darren.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Darren, I particularly enjoy your use of old photos faded in with the modern view.
That was a very interesting video, thank you for bringing that to us Daren. I visited the Maritime Museum a few years ago and that was an interesting building. I was surprised at how many old interesting buildings there are in Hull.
Superb find Darren. Beautifully kept in the original condition.
What an amazing place!
It was a great privilege to go on that tour with you, Darren. ❤🎉
42:52 "The Organ Blower Chamber" Oh Matron! :D
A wonderful video. Particularly for distant armchair travelers (South Africa) I do so enjoy your travels and tours around buildings which I will never get to see. Many thanks.. Duncan.
I was in Hull a few days ago and was amazed at the glorious civic buildings. These and the huge train station suggests a once very important place. So much building work going on, it will be great when it’s finished. As I walked around I thought it would be great to see one of your videos of this place, and here you go! And I was in Bradford yesterday and your videos were really helpful in helping me look around. Thanks for all your stuff. Maybe one day I’ll bump into you, 😊
Quite possibly haha
Brilliant Darren, really enjoying this video. Love the photo fades. History of the building very interesting & secret passages & rooms.
Always a joy Darren to watch. Thank you 👍🏻😀☀️
Fascinating video. Loved the blocked stairs section 😊
Nice! Going there this autumn to see a comedy gig. Stunning venue
Great video Darren from the outside you wouldn't think there is all that inside, Nice one awesome 😊
Sheffield town hall is lovely inside too. Have you covered that one? We need a Sheffield video from you! Hope you will be coming soon.
Interesting to see other City's and towns old buildings that you probably wouldn't get to see. Thanks fir sharing Darren.
beutiful venue, great video 2x👍
Good video very interesting it takes me away from my cancer ,treatable, thank you for sharing,
Thanks for watching. Wishing you well mate
Wow, just wow. What an impressive building. It must have cost millions to renovate to that standard. As ever, your research and editing were exemplary. Thank you.
check out 50 secs into the episode. The 2 steps up to the toilets are where the gents urinals used to be. I used to work in the Southampton Civic Offices in the late 90's and they were still in place then. I expect they are still there.
Another great video. Thank you Darren!
Loved the tour with great commentary. ❤ I'm finding more of your work after seeing the lovely Scarborough stories. ❤ from Sharon.x
Thanks Sharon. Enjoy
Very interesting and informative as usual. I'm a Bradfordian born, living in Hull, so it was good to see you looking at this city's buildings. Hull does have some beautiful buildings left, survivors of both Adolf and successive councils! The City Hall is reminiscent of St. George's Hall - memories of school Speech Days held in St. George's. Thank you for the insider view of this wonderful building. Good to see it has been maintained in wonderful condition.
Absolutely loved this. Thanks for taking us along with you 😊
A fascinating video Darren. Well done 👍👍👍
Amazing what a lot of history all in one building a big thank you Darren and Joseph 👍
Another very interesting and informative video, thanks for posting Darren
Pete & Lorraine
Magnificent building. Outstanding documentary Darren. Absolutely brilliant video. Thank you.
Great video Darren, beautiful old building, very interesting history 👌👍😀
Very interesting tour.
Thank you for the guided tour of the theatre this day. Very well equipped theatre. Being that I cannot travel anymore, your tours replace them. Again thank you for the walking tour. Cheers Darren! 🇬🇧🥲👍🇺🇸
That was really interesting! Loved the photo fades again. Thanks
Fantastic Darren! Great to see these amazing views of Hull. Never been there, but hope to some day, now. Cheers!
Thank you for a fascinating tour of this amazing architectural landmark in Hull. Well done.
Another excellent video - you've done some great videos over the years and you 100% should make Hull proud of such a fabulous building.
One guess about the large semi-circular fitting though... Could it be to hold an illuminated sign or a large clock?
Great video Darren
Perhaps a new series "Toilet of Northern England"
Excellent that was such a treat to see - and all the behind-the-scenes. George Michael, bless him, had a thing for toilets too, so you are not alone Darren.
Just watched Martin Zero's latest video set in Manchester.
Darren, please do a new series based in Leeds centre and surrounding areas
I've almost exhausted Leeds lol
Amazing. These are my favourite ones. I wonder if you could persuade Blackpool Tower to let you in to film their secret areas!
Tried so hard and gave up
@@AdventureMe :(
Another interesting video Darren. Very informative as always! 👍🙂
Well done. Another great video. Thank you.
I saw Boyzone at city Hall when they first became famous 😂
Did you go to the toilets under the queen Victoria statue? They still have old tiles and doors. So do the toilets near the fruit market.
That was a fascinating vid Darren , thank you !!
Thank you for a interesting video on a venue in my home city, seeing parts of the venue I don't see as a audience member and thing I have to look out for next time I am there. Was last there a few week back to see Wrestling. Enjoy anything to do will old entertainment venues.
Hi Darren I went there many times to see pop shows I.e hot chocolate/the real thing/the drifters/sutherland brothers and quiver.
Very good thank you , the city is full title is Kingston upon Hull , very rarely used nowadays. when you were in Queen Victoria Square, did you know she sat on top of the gents public toilets she was definitely not amused
I bet she wasn't lol
Hi Darren, the times when local authorities had money from industry to spend. No room 25 😁?
Not here lol
Did you see any relics, possibly a retired, creaking Bob Mortimer?
As I shoot throuhh to the comments to see what that metal contraption was on the wall....lol...Great video darren...but you are my Sunday fix for the week lol 🎉
That was amazing, you are very good at what you do, very interesting indeed, ive never been to Hull, but i did study with someone who told me he came from 'ULL.
Wow that's something to be proud if hulls population 😳 jabbed in its halls so much loss so 😔
Those toilets behind you at the start were even more impressive. Fish tanks (with fish) as the cisterns. Can't remember when they were closed but it's a shame, dunno what state they're in now but they should be reopened & restored, properly.
Was the ramp used for rolling beer barrels from the draymen?
Good suggestion
Wow, das ist so herrlich anzusehen.
Schade, daß es im zweiten Weltkrieg Zerstörungen gab. Danke, das ich dich begleiten durfte. War alles sehr schön und interessant 👍🏻.
Thank you Darren 👋🏻👋🏻🤩
Do you have any old pictures showing the construction of these buildings?
Only the ones at the end of the video
You think maybe the metal thing on the wall was to hold the clock in the basement??
Could well be
They really should look to getting the dome sealed - or at least pigeon access blocked - to stop all the guano corroding the ironwork and dirtying the glass. So many buildings are ruined by those flying rats which are now protected so the only way is seal everything off to them.
1/3 of the pop ! for a medication that never worked
10:57 And a four manual organ too ~ meaning four keyboards.
Not too shabby at all as there's not that many of them in the world.
Playing a four register organ is apparently an exercise in pain and pleasure as there's the foot pedals and the dozens of organ stops to be on top of too.
It's lucky, "If you could call it that," that the WWII bomb missed to organ pipes. Darren, what's the story and purpose of the "Princes Quay Carp Pond?" During your vids I also look around on google birds eye view. You're the only U-Tuber that can open a video with a Toilet and pull it off, good show.
I love toilets haha
@@AdventureMe Me too, one or two times a day........... lol
Hi Hull had many docks in the center of the city Princes dock was built in 1829 and was named after prince Albert for his visit in 1854 it shut in 1968 the carp pond was needed because of vast algae growth that breed many flies annoying the shoppers so carp were put in the dock to eat the algae and a blue dye is added to slow algae growth as well so hence the fish breed and increase year by year. The dock is 8 mtrs deep and the temp is 18 c
@@carlharris2808 Thanks for info. So much history, so little time.......
Bradford Town Hall has all it's original Toilets not modern like them
Not adverse to covering a toilet, our Darren? Hmm. I hope you wiped it clean. ;)
It's normally very Dull in Hull.
It's never Dull in Hull 🙂
