  • University of Natal Alumni and former lecturer Phelelani Mnomiya has contributed greatly to the growth of choral music in South Africa and is the brains behind the iconic song 'Ihele' which is sang at every UKZN graduation during the procession entrance.

    I am deeply saddened ngokudlula kwakho emhlabeni Baba uMnomiya .... As a young upcoming composer from Zimbabwe i must say that i benefited a lot from your works as they sharpened my skill ... i enjoy your compositional idiom and i shall continue treasuring your wonderful compositions ... to me you were the African Mozart of our time ...
