Hey Sue! Thanks a lot for sharing this video. It was so helpful. ❤️ Just one question to ask you that we take deposits at the time of booking but what’s the right time of taking balance amount before a day of event, on the same day before starting service or after we are done with makeup? Because it feels little uncomfortable to ask and push the client to pay a day prior or right before starting makeup and generally they feel offended and want to pay once we are done with service. And some times in case of after service payment, they start to bargain or deny to give the amount what was agreed or even want to pay later after getting free from the event (mentioning that I am in hurry right now and your balance amount is safe with me, I will pay as soon as I am free.) Overall this becomes a very tricky situation. How to deal with it?
I strongly recommend you have clients pay in advance. This will stop all of this nightmare. I realise bargaining might be more usual in your culture, but if you have a contract or at least T&Cs with your client, you'll find it easier. Especially for weddings. And I agree, its always awkward when you have to ask the client to pay on the day. I hope that helps. Sue
Hi Sue! Amazing video I was really in need of it! 🙌🏻👏🏻 Just one question: to be able to have a T&C, do I necessarily need (legally speaking) to seek a lawyer to sort of validate my terms & conditions, or I can just make my own (as long as it’s fair for both parties)? And also, do I need to have my makeup artistry as registered business to be able to use terms & conditions or any freelancers keep the rights to have it? Thank you for your time! Andrea x
Hi Andréa, thanks for watching. Answers to those questions would depend whereabouts in the world you are living and working. Here in Australia we can write up any T&Cs but whether they would stand up if challenged in court is another matter!! That is why I always suggest having a lawyer look over them. Depending on where you are, there may be a "template" you can purchase online (I know of such templates for both the USA and Australia). Hope that helps!
@@SueMcLaurin Hi Sue, it does help a lot! I live in Australia too (Sydney), I’m gonna search for an online template then, loved the tips and your channel! Thank you heaps! X
@@andreaviana2597 Oh!! I thought by your name you might be in Europe or Sth America. Sydney! haha... You should check out the contract available on the makeupandglow.com.au site, that was written in conjunction with a lawyer here in Australia.
@@SueMcLaurin hehe you’re right, I’m South American but living in Sydney ☺️ Oh great! That’s exactly the one I was checking but wasn’t quite sure if it was reliable! Thank yo so much for sending it through, it helped a lot!! 😘😘
Hi Sue, if a make up artists accepts your deposit, can they then turn around and cancel on you? My make up artist took my deposit, and is now trying to cancel it for no apparent reason.
I think it would depend on the terms and conditions of the contract you have with the artist. At the least I would be expecting a refund, and a good artist will find a replacement
Great video, Sue!
Thanks for watching Jo. Hope business is picking up for you.
