i don't think it's a bad thing that people stop playing Sky. Some things aren't meant to be played continuously. Some things have a beginning and an end. The beauty of Sky is that that "end" can be wherever you want it to be, whether it's your first eden, once you've gotten all the wing buffs, exclusively playing seasons, grinding for the TS each week-2 weeks, buying every single item in Sky, or whatever else.
I actually prefer playing this game alone. I feel disappointed when one of my friends comes to join me on a run because all I really want to do is just have a nice peaceful quiet flight. I could spend hours just flying around, thinking, listening to music and just enjoying the casual and fleeting interactions that I do share with strangers. Friends leaving will never be a reason for me to stop playing this game.
Same.. there's just something magical in the feels when you have interactions with an anonymous person... Not chatting.. just communicating through emotes.
If I could play the game without the help of people, I would. I don't like that we have to rely on people for doors :\ Though, I like having friends for hearts and chatting in the discord.
As someone who plays sky a lot (and that I’ve been around for seven months), I can say with certainty that candle runs are insanely boring, and I almost never do them. Sky is really repetitive, which I feel like might be its worst flaw.
Hibiscuspuddle sky is a very open-ended game, there’s a main story line but then when you went to Eden like 20 times the only thing you really have let is to just candle run and obtain cosmetics, I cannot bring myself to candle run half the realms (valley, golden wasteland and daylight prairie)
I’m a veteran and all of these are just facts at this point. The only reason I go online is because when I mentioned it to my friends that I’d be leaving they begged me not to. This game has been involved with a lot of emotionally attached memories that I formed with my friends, there are things that we can’t control and friendships just escalates and dies at one point for some. Not to mention that because of that I ended up choosing to go solo/hiatus for months before I was stable enough to let other people in my life again. Even with that whole shenanigans the game is incredibly boring in my perspective after playing for so long (no offense, I just had to admit it.) Me and my other Veteran friends discussed about this topic and after that most of them just left after saying goodbye or rarely went online. Now that the community is growing and Sky is getting more popular it doesn’t exactly “feel like before” is what we would say, before the huge updates, before the global release, before the android release. Everything is just different and the feeling we once had in playing the game became cold and stale (not all the time of course, just in a nutshell).
if something was changing on the map everytime we go candle run at least every 2 week or month, or if the quests were not always the same then maybe it could be less "boring" cause it's a pretty cool game that i dont want to quit but as you said i cant find anymore reasons to play sky if it will be like this all the time (sorry bad english)
I saw some other comment here abt Sky being their second life and I haven’t related so much to something in months. I started playing March 1st 2020 during lockdown and I did isle-vault in 2 days. I waited weeks before I dared to do Eden (x At fist the thing that kept me playing was the collection of cosmetics and to explore the world, but after a while it started to get boring. I started looking for friends in-game (it turns out there’s nearly no ppl in my country that has even heard abt this game, so no use looking there). I talked to strangers as much as possible as it was the only enjoyable thing for me atm, and finally in June I met a person at a random table in prairie (x She was a bit older than me, but we still got along. She even introduced me to another one of her friends. Only days later the three of us met FOUR different ppl that we got along with. All 7 of us actually call ourselves a family. The girl I met on that table is now my Sky mom that I love with all my heart, I have a Sky dad that I reference memes with all the time, I have 2 lovely Sky aunties that I candle run with and talk abt musical theatre with and 2 adorable younger cousins that i would die for. I honestly have a better relationship to my friends on Sky than on the few friends I have irl. I’m terrified of my family one day dissolving and leaving Sky. Some of them only play once a week when the entire family meet up for Eden. I haven’t had likeminded friends irl in 8 years, so meeting all these amazing ppl online feels like blessing. Sky is the only place this could happen and I’m eternally grateful for tgc’s view on strangers from all over the world socializing online. While the fact that the game heavily relies on having friends might be a great struggle for many (I’ve been there), I also think it has saved a lot of ppl (also been there). Idk either if it's just me that felt in that way. Because, whenever i'm alone, none one of my friend joined me. It's just me who joined them😔and i thought it's the reason they might uncomfortable to joined with. And there's a case when i joined them, they left/logged off for some reason. Maybe it's just me who felt emotionally towards them? So, now i prefer to going solo, then there's no a thing to worry about. Play some music in oob place, pretty healing for me
You’ve got the reasons pointed out, cause I had these 2 friends back in 2019 during Sky: Lights Awaits. They were my mentor. Showed me places I’ve never been to, lead me to collect emotes and went with me thru Eden. Just when Sky: LA turned into Sky: COTL. Aviary was gone and a new lobby, Home Space. Many memories were made and of course, they took a break from Sky. I hope one day I can see them again and this time, introduce them to the new world of Sky.
I get emotional reading this because I also have a mentor here.. he’s been in it for a year or more while I’m barely a month. I really am thankful for them.
Well before Sky used to be 2 apps. They were the same just that the title was different. Sky: LA was a soft launch version of the global. But I don’t know if there would be a sequel, we’ll just have to see
for me this game is like a second life, a brand new start, a brand new world, with a brand new friends, i remember the first time i played sky was 5 months ago, i know im not a veteran but to me its a long time, i completed the first eden run in one sitting, but at my first play i met a girl and i was simping for her, so we played alot of it, get to know each other and one day she just dissapeared, and at that point on sky was really boring, until i played it again recently to make new friends and yeah the content is boring, but for me meeting new strangers and get to know them never gets old, but hey thats just my opinion
Do you still play it and enjoy it? I'm playing since 5th of february of this year, it's past 5 months and honestly im already getting bored. I've been full candle running every single day and I'm about to complete all the consellations, and even there are tons of Ts that I haven't unlocked yet and we keep having new seasons and events, the game in the base doesn't really change much, you just candle run every day, complete dailies and that's it. It's enjoyable if you have/found friends to play the game together, it's still enjoyable to a point but honestly, it get's boring to me after that, especially since all my friends left sky. Don't get me wrong, the game and it's idea of exploring a wide world with friends and meeting new strangers and hanging out with them is cool, but everything in the game being so expensive is forcing players to candle run every single day, doing same things and going to same places every single day makes it a lot less enjoyable. The game would be great if the way we get candles was different and not something repeating (example, every hour you hang out with a friend you get a candle etc - this would also be good for tgc who says "players should socialize") or at the very least items were a lot cheaper so it wouldn't force players to full cr every day and giving all their free time to candle running.
@@enolathealone I only play once amonth for now, since the new ts or items dont even give me interest anymore, but whilst i left sky i managed to get some friends that i still contact till today, we exchanged social medias and supported each other when theres trouble, sky did leave a huge impact on my life but nevertheless, its nothing than a memory for me
The same old map~ The same old music~ The candle-running loop~ Old friends keep leaving this game~ Too tired to find a new best friend~ Also, having fun with friends are only about flying together, talk to each other, playing music then travel to OOB places. --End up only exciting with traveling spirits and new season stuffs. That’s it. SKY is a very good-Indy game. But one day people will get bored and look for new things. That’s a fact.
Hi, I’m an old player and I just wanted to share my experience. I found Sky through a Facebook advertisement and I was immediately intrigued. I started playing Sky in 2018 and the game has gone through many, many, changes. I quit after playing for around 5 months. Why? One reason was because they changed so much things. One change that bothered me was the new flight system back then. Before that new flight system, we were able to fly freely. Another thing that made me quit Sky was a thing you mentioned in your video, the game becoming boring. Back then, I didn’t know you could do candle runs to gain more candles so while playing Sky, I just roamed around all the realms. While roaming the Sky kingdom, there were little to no players I could light or talk with, we were just a small community back then. But when I do come across other players, most of them would become my friends which made me happy, but I never got to talk to them. Until one day, I decided to try and go through Wasteland (I haven’t reached the temple back then because I was afraid of the Krills lmao). A stranger came in and befriended me. They guided me through the entire realm. While we did lose our emotes (we lost emotes back then rather than winged light), I was glad that someone came and helped me. We unlocked chat and talked to each other. They kept apologizing because we kept getting hit by Krills haha. Weeks later we went through the last realm and finished it. I almost cried during the ending. But, I didn’t know what to do afterwards. I went through the realm again but this time I went alone. I roamed the realms again and again, but the kingdom felt empty. That was when I decided to quit Sky. COVID spread through the entire world and we stayed in our homes, isolated from the world. My friends from school chat with me sometimes only, so I felt lonely. I kept drawing illustrations, but it never felt enough. I scrolled through Instagram, but I felt empty. Until, I found a post related to Sky. The sensation I felt when I saw that post was nostalgic. The game looked so different, there were new cosmetics and new things. It made me melancholic. So, I came back to the Sky kingdom. I was in awe, it was like I was playing the game with a fresh start. The servers weren’t empty, there were kids running around. It felt like my loneliness disappeared. After 2 weeks, I finally reunited with my friend and I was happy. I roamed around the realms with people I could befriend. People sat with me on the chat benches. I made new friends. It was a place I could escape to from reality. Sorry for the long comment and possibly bad grammar;; I wanted to get something out of my chest. Sky: Children of the Light helps me cope during this pandemic. I’m really glad I came back.
Also found this game because of the pandemic. Hearing these stories from the comments, we make most out of the game doing what matters to us. Right now, I am just super happy to fly around. Meet and talk to friends. Go play solo. Some things are getting mundane in the game but so things irl. I try to focus on moments that is making me happy right now.
Before Sky was released on Mobile, everyone was legit nice. The bored senpais always picked up and helped the little ones and you'll always randomly see flocks of 3-6 flying around with one Pro and the rest newbies. It was a really nice era in Sky but sadly it's gone now..
i just started a day ago on mobile and people are still legit nice. i met players who have been playing for like 2 years and they led me to places to collect wings and spirits🥺🥺
I honestly don’t think this is true, it’s all still the same even after mobile. I have met an amazing friend group because I met 4 players in Prairie in my moth days, and the fam grew and grew.
Sometimes i'm already with another player and then i'm overwhelmed to communicate with everyone seperately (when they dont know each other and we cant do groupchat). Last time i went with my little brother to help him do his first eden run. and a friend wanted to come along and hold my hand but just went off too fast. He didnt realize that my brother needed my help. so i had to let him go and do the "no" emote. i didnt want to come off as rude, but sometimes other player can make things harder :(
i think it’s mostly because of the amount of social interactions that take place. i have so many friends in my constellation and a solid 85-95% of them are simply friends i made for heart fragments. additionally, continuously meeting and talking to new people means that i’m always trying to keep track of new people and the extent of our interaction is maybe one conversation at most. i actually name my friends based on how i meet them otherwise i can’t keep track of who’s who. and finally i only have a couple close friends on sky and those are the ones i spend the most time with, so i’m so dedicated to the handful of very close friends that i tend not to spend as much time with those who i don’t normally see.
I actually met a friend from a Yt comment we actually made a year last month,she thought me how to play sky. Even though we’re on the opposite sides of the earth I love her like my own sister.😭

As a (apparently?) veteran player that's been playing since the start of Lightseekers, I don't know what really keeps me in the game, to stop playing it is like suddenly just never coming home because you don't like this one couch in your room. Sky is... almost like home to me. I don't play any other games that require a high amount of dedication like sky, and I pretty much don't want to. Literally, it's just home. It's not perfect, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Perhaps it's the community that keeps me there? The comfort of having something so beautiful be so familiar to me? Even as a moth, Sky never felt foreign or strange to me- I suppose the first actual game you really play feels like that. Quitting such a game like that isn't something sudden, like a quick yank at the heartstrings. It's gradual, something that grows inside of you that you never question, never even think much of. It just happens. @Starbyt the Doodler explains it so well, that games in this explorative, vague-lore format have their end only where you decide, and I think that's what make the world of Sky feel so wonderful and peaceful, but not overly fantastical and static- it feels real. Maybe as a newer player, seeing someone quit like that and ever so slowly detach seems so unbelievable and immense (I know I would as a moth), but you just eventually... _understand._ Personally, all this potentially menial task-doing and candle-running gives me some sort of solace. I don't think Sky should be seen as a place "full of adventure and discovery", but rather of peace and relaxation, like the home you don't really have to leave. I know for a fact players will all have a very personal, emotional relationship with Sky, being the emotional game, no, _world_ that it is, so it probably resonates with different people really differently. Who knows. Maybe my thoughts will expire with time.
Tbh the reasons I'd almost quit as because everything is getting super expensive. Like the game is getting more popular and things are getting even more expensive which is just wack to me. I'd bought every season pass from gratitude to sanctuary. Things are also getting abit repetitive and they're starting to not listen as much. They're removing things and fixing things nobody asked for. The day they remove the chunk glitch is the day I quit
I've been playing sky since season of enchantment started... and it took me three month to complete all the constellation. Hidden Forest: May,20 Valley of Triumph: Jun,15 Vault of Knowledge: Jul,3 Isle of Dawn: Jul,4 Golden Wasteland: Jul,17 Daily Prairie: Jul,25 but it can't be done without my friend. they are veteran player and it took a while for them to completed all the constellation except for me. we always trade heart daily cr together discovered oob together. they decided to leave sky and it only me who left still playing sky. yes after playing sky for like 4-5month I think? it became boring with same thing over and over. I missed my old friend (͒ ⸝⸝•̥´𖥦`•̥⸝⸝)͒
Not a veteran. Played during the time Rhythm ended but yes, there came a time when candle runs were just dull for me. I’d stare at my friend constellation and see lots of them not receiving the light I gave them cause they’ve been inactive. What keeps me bound to the game are: 1.) the lore. I want to know more about the world. It’s so vague. We’re not always fed with words. I’m just really into knowing the history. 2.) Piano. I want to be able to learn how to play different songs on it. 3.) Moths. My gaaahhh they’re so cute. 🥺 I mostly hang out in Wasteland and make sure they don’t get krilled. Helping people is something I always found fun and satisfying. Like what someone said here in the comment section, this game is like my second life too. More entertaining since I can fly and it’s more magical than the one I have now. The emotes are funny. People are cute too. Here and in game, I have friends who leave and it does upset me cause I never got to say goodbye. So I focus on helping others, especially newbies, to make sure they have fun in the game and just get a grasp of how things work. Like in real life, I don’t even play at all to do quests. I just talk and chat with friends. Know how things are going on in their lived and all. Hope TGC does something about this. Am still hoping for new meditation questions.
I’m a veteran player I stopped playing I thought I really quit sky but I didn’t delete the app. I came back when season of rhythm was 1 week away from ending. To this day all my fellow veteran friends don’t play sky so I decided to unfriend them since I don’t wanna be reminded of that pain of losing friends. I’m glad I came back honestly and honestly I prefer making new player friends (I have a soft spot for moths now lol). I can’t wait to see what sky will look like in 2-5 years.
I’ve always enjoyed the loops, my entire life is big and unpredictable, things change way too often. But in sky, I feel like I have more control in my life. I feel more stable. The changes are small and you can always find people to help you if you can’t find your way.
Ts only there for 4 days... Do you think TGC Can make Island/area with only 2 weeks and only used for 4 days? I mean They could, But isnt easy. they are humans and they need breaks... Plus Now You get new areas and Trials To do in seasons, It can make it less boring... Don't forget About the next season trials, You still can do it without Hving the trial quest.. So like.. Just play it whenever you bored lol
I remember when I first joined sky I thought the realms were different levels and when you get to the highest realm you are one of the strongest lmao 🤣. I was wrong and pretty disappointed when I learned there was only 7 realms and you couldn’t go further. Haha I thought my sky kid was gonna turn into a sky adult.
@@raiyahambermediodia8754 They are doing that. The hollow tree in the sunny meadow of Forest; Forbidden Arc in Wasteland; Sanctuary in Prairie; Prophecy caves in Isle; all of them are add-ons. They are not going to increase the number of realms with portal gates at Home. If you want to know why, check out the poster on the wall beside the fridge in Office.
Reading these comments have made me realize a lot about myself and why I play this game... So here’s my reflection: It’s true, Sky has a different atmosphere now. Sometimes the community can be toxic, and it’s extremely upsetting given the goal of the game- to bring people together. And eventually after spending hundreds of hours doing something, you will become bored. Online friends are real friends. They can be so much easier to talk to than people you know in real life. However, they’re so much easier to lose. People typically see their friends face-to-face multiple times a week (at work, school, etc.), but you may not talk to online friends for weeks or months at a time. The pain you feel at loosing a friend is still there. Sky has introduced me to amazingly talented and kind people from all over the world. I have learned about different cultures. I have become better at communicating my thoughts to other people. It has acted as an escape from reality for over a year when I’ve been anxious. Heck, I’ve even started learning Chinese because of the game. Despite enjoying it less now, it is an experience I would never trade... no matter how many times I want to experience it all again.
sky is going to die out even more with how they currently are going, its repetitive, they lock the new content behind pay walls that are way too high (55 dollars for all the halloween cosmetics) and lack of variety
i mean i would say they are a company so they kind of have to lock the most wanted cosmetics behind IAPs and things otherwise they wouldn’t be profiting. and then on top of that they do add new content every year so it’s just a matter of taking time and over the years acquiring cosmetics behind paywalls and not buying it all at once.
I used to be fascinated by the game when i downloaded it in mid 2019 and met my first online friend. We had alot to talk about, stories to tell and legit ask questions and be fascinated by philosophy, talked about being in an ideal world to live in where there is less of sins. What caused us to drift apart is our different views on his friends. At first when we hang out, he said he just needed one friend to be with, but due to miscommunication issues and a busy college life, he decided to make more friends, the more I got busy with my own studies.... and thought it really was our time to drift apart. His friends even told him I am a bad example to ever get close to if I can't take some time out of my life to be there for him.... which is completely WRONG. We texted daily on discord and I make sure I listened to him, even when I was tired and got little sleep. Finding reasons why it was good to have left him and his so called friends. For starters he is homophobic and extremely religious which made me think "how would he be like if he met my friends in the lgbt community?", "would they get along or nah?". I do not have any problems of people for their religious beliefs or if they are in the gay pride community. If I could not get along with his other friends, then it was the end of ours as well.... Sky was just never the same again.... Anyways despite all that had happened, it was a good learning experience. To never hope for too much in a person you just met, it takes time for a mutual friendship to be molded, and since everyone has egos, does not mean you have to give up on them if you truly LOVE them, YOU STILL BE there FOR THEM. I wish all the new users in sky a goodluck and just enjoy your journey with the friends that you have while it lasts, and if so there is a group of friends, make sure everyone listens to each other and try to not prioritize your friends over the other (depends on how private matters are but try not to cause so much drama, these are probably people who live far and can not see how you feel at times and you really do not want to hurt them) This is why I say a small collection of friends or just a few friend, heck even one friend is enough....
i’ve been playing since early gratitude, and i’d like to add that the recent popularity of the game has brought people in that are often.. quite spoiled, and mess with my perspective on things. i remember friending someone and unlocking chat, and they immediately started talking about how they had every cosmetic in the game, but weren’t playing for all the seasons, and said that “[they] were going to get [an item they didn’t have] soon” soon after the TS’s were introduced. and that felt really... off to me. to me, sky isn’t a game about cosmetics or items, it’s about the atmosphere and the players you meet. so it felt very strange to hear that after immediately unlocking chat with someone. but i do have to agree with the not a lot of new content point, the quests are so so boring to me, and i wish they’d add more quests
Hmm weird. I never encountered those people in Sky, when I unlocked chat with my long time friend, he was insanely happy and kind and I thanked him for helping me when I was still a moth in the Wasteland. I never encountered those people who bragged about cosmetics.
Because once you beat the game and get max cape and get your favorite combo after repetitive days of candle running there's nothing else to do.I played sky for 3 months with friends but these new seasons are just not entertaining anymore so I quit a couple months back.Waiting for switch release

The best way to counter this in my opinion is Not to candle run for too long only 5-10 minutes max Admire the little things even if its just a spirt pose or a little flower If there’s a new season new spirt etc not to go all at it and collect / get there cosmetics all in one time Let’s say you need to get some eden candles but u really don’t feel like it DONT FORCE YOURSELF TO! And most importantly to take breaks even if there long (make sure to tell your friends though!)

Don't forget about getting motion sick because of the lag (Android player) and auto-changing angle camera that makes the players really dizzy lmao. To be honest, I'm new player of sky. Played since June 2020 and already want to stop because of the lag and loop. That's why I seldom do candle run. But now I have to because Travelling Spirit of Rhythm season is coming. Ugh.
Oof me too ;-; Gained 15 candles in two days, and because I was bored I spent them all on forest spirits. I only got 2 candles left, and a Traveling spirit coming. _Why me_
That's why seasons are here, so it not always a loop but I do have to say that *what if android are made from the same company of iPhone and there making android phones Lag a lot* I'm just saying.
I’m still relatively new in sky terms, but old enough to make a statement. I’ve played since January 2020, just before Season of Rhythm started. Sky gets really repetitive after awhile, the only reason I stay is to collect all of the cosmetics, get to 11 buffs and play with my irl friends. If I’m gonna be completely honest here, after Sky’s jump in popularity when it was released for Android, it started to feel less like the game I experienced. Traveling Spirits, although cool, have definitely taken away the token of being in the game for as long as you have. People who payed actual money to support sky get to watch as people get to take this token away from them. I’m a little nervous to watch more spirits come, I already feel bad enough for the long long-term players. And some seasons (looking at you, Sanctuary) have totally broken the fantasy and ancient feel of Sky. Maybe I’m just getting old in this game, idk. Either way, I’m glad people are enjoying it as much as I used to. Maybe they’ll find something in Sky that I never will. I probably won’t quit, but being active is really hard the more you do it. EDIT: Plus, I’ve invested WAY too much money in this game to quit now! I still love it, but time goes by, y’know?
Another reason is how TGC manages their game. They feel like TGC doesn't really have a plan on what they're going to do with the game (Ehem.. traveling spirit... Ehem... Current TS system in Beta).
I didn’t really get bored with Sky, candle-running everyday just makes me happy especially with friends that come online each hour I’m available. For Season Of Prophecy, I was very VERY excited. To be honest, patience isn’t really a part of me so all the waiting for the Season Of Prophecy drowned away my excitement. I completely love TGC’s games. Sky is like my second life, where I can just do what I want, where I feel free, where I can skip around without any dangerous thing out there harming me. There was no limit when it came to Sky, I can be anything I want there in Sky, this game is the root of me and my Sky friends’ friendships, everyday we candle-run while sharing funny moments and emotional experiences in which it left me completely touched knowing that there are good people out there.
ive been playing for nearly 2 years and these reasons all p much sum it up, expect the cosmetics for me, the only reason why i returned to playing it daily/often is because i've gained friends who constantly play. But besides that I don't really get the same excitement when I play except when its hanging out in Eden or maybe Wasteland doing random things like messing w krill. Hopefully the new seasons and their trials will make it more entertaining
I used to play daily and so far I went through two and a half seasons but now I don’t even get on anymore cause I feel bored. It gets repetitive fast so the game depends heavily on social aspects and that’s fun and all but I really prefer gameplay. I went on a cosmetic crazy phase but now I’m even over collecting them cause I’ve had enough haha. It’s still a really good game and I don’t regret playing
Man... i only play sky for 5 months now but when u said about friends. That kind of made me sad. Like the thought of this... i've met such good people that i just love to talk to. And not only in the game. In real life too. When your friend leaves.
I miss the old times so much, it was so peaceful and all were kind now this game has so many new players and they all so competitive and rude they only look for themselves…. It’s like when has this changed like this
hi, old sky player here, ive been playing sky for one year+ and what you said are accurately true. when i first played i was impressed and amazed of how beautiful the sceneries in game are, and also people’s kindness(early game). i met a lot of people in sky and some of them became close friends with me. sky was everything for me to cope with irl, but the game is not the only reason i lost interest , the bad people is what im scared of. ive been s*xually harassment indirectly through a friend of a friend, and s*lf-h***ing because of a relative who played with me, and i was so so angry because these kind of people playing this warmhearted game-
-and what’s im not fond of about the game being popular after the global release is, there are so, so many fangirls shipping characters in the game. i mean im the person who shipping my ocs too, but the massive ships in the fandom are...unreal. true that the characters and skykids are important, but barely anyone notice the hidden sceneries, and by that i mean the smallest details in every realms that you usually passing by when candles run/doing something else, and it makes me sad that they’ve been forgotten in the game.
oh yes, the candles run and stars run are really frustrating if you play sky long enough. ive memorized every nooks and crannies of where they are for a long time ago and too busy/lazy to spend hours on them. dont even care if i dont have enough stars because as above mentioned. now im active in the game just to do the season’s quests and take the additional seasonal candle from the pass which, a friend bought and gave me so i cant just let their hard work go to waste.
finally, despite i have so much friends in the constellation, the close ones dont even online much now as theyre busying with work/school/life, and the others are mostly japanese/foreigners friends that i met throughout the game so we cant really chatting or playing. i do prefer playing alone doe. sorry for the rant, thats all c:
I’ve been playing just about daily since June of this year and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. Season of Sanctuary was... alright. The cosmetics were pretty goofy, I mostly just wanted the manta cape lol. The loop is... yeah, you put it perfectly. I find myself wondering, ‘why am I doing this again? Am I actually enjoying this?’ I’ve joined a Sky discord server, so that’s freshened things up some, but it still feels a bit... hollow. Somehow. Maybe it’s because I don’t really chat with anyone. Season of Prophecy looks to be shaping up to be quite interesting with its capeless trials, but once this season is over I’m definitely backing off. Not quitting entirely, but popping in and playing because I enjoy it and not because I feel like I need to or else I’m gonna miss out on something
(Warning, long comment as I really love this game and hope to see it improve) The game needs more things to do essentially. This game has the chance to be one of those open worlders without the violence and need for PVP. The quests are too repetitive, the only thing you can do out of season is candle running which gets stale very fast. There needs to be more sandbox elements I feel, and they need to up their level/quest design, essentially all of yhem are "Do this at a place". There is no real challenge. I feel like things like more complex, challenging scavenger hunts (something that Season of Ecnhantment was able to do, but they were too simple),more puzzle based areas, and just generally more areas to explore with "activity areas" that go beyond sitting on a bench. Weekly events would also help (but not like the quests that we have now) Right now Sky is in a rut as a game because it can get boring quickly and the social aspect gets too focused on by devs. I feel like more interactivity with players and the world will EASILY solve this. The new upcoming season is definitely TGC upping their game design to new levels and hopefully is a precursor to more amazing things
I guess the "loop" isn't just about the repetitive candle runs, being reborn, or other activities in the game. I think it's also about meeting new people, getting close to them, losing them, then meeting new people again and the loop goes on. It's emotionally tiring. Another thing is no matter how beautiful this game is, once players get used to it, it will eventually lose it's spark to some (if not all) unless there is always something new. Sky is a game that used to make me really happy. Yeah..it used to :') Now it feels bittersweet. Reminded me that there will always be things we can't always take back no matter how badly we wanted to go back to how it used to be. This has been more than just a game for me. I met my favorite people in the game. Whenever I am with them, I literally lmao. They are the kind of people I can talk to from the silliest things to the most serious stuff. I can be myself. It felt like I found real friends online. I actually met lots of people but I don't consider everyone I know as "friends". I think this was the peak when I was at my happiest in the game (when my time in sky used to revolve around them). But things happened and more friends started to come but I guess that is when things started to get sad for me. There have been people as well I wish I didn't met in the game. I rarely go online now and started to fully understand one of my friend's reasons of quitting. I started to adjust myself going solo and eventually got used to it. Going solo made me feel better and reflect on myself. That being alone is not equivalent to being lonely. I also don't know why but it's somehow draining for me to constantly be with people. I even had to cut myself off from people from time to time because I feel so drained. I don't think I would want to get used to people's presence again. I miss my fave people in the game but I know they have their own group of friends now. The one I'm closest to stopped going online for a while now which makes me really sad. I'm close to quitting anyway and I feel like it is better this way. I'm just saving up enough candles so I will have savings in case I wanted to go back. I still miss the old times though.

Also some very old players quit when their most favorite place is removed like aviary or the very old starting place which is now just at the starting of prarie today (i meant the one which was once a cave but now an entrance for prarie)
i don't think i'm a veteran player nor newbie, but the second reason hit really hard. i remember the time i've first lit someone's candle which was also a new player like me, i kept following them afraid that i would lose someone who i first met and not meet them again. then i realized you could add players since they added me and that was the most happiest moment i had in this game. until 6 months i wasn't seeing them anymore and i was always sad since that day. i've always thought of leaving but my other side keeps saying no. i'm glad i still met a lot of amazing people i've met in sky who changed my life
I can't remember when I joined sky, but it was during the light awaits winter2018 season. I went back to sky and left again a few months ago, during the previous season, partially because of timezones. When aviary was still a thing, there wasn't a lot of people playing when I did, during the day. It was only at later hours at night that the servers would have people, and because of the game's focus on social things, I'd burn myself out playing that late, wanting to get some candles for unlocking emotes+cosmetics and all that. I stopped mainly because of how tired I got of it, from the burnout and the repetition, though I do regret not letting my sky friends know about this.
To add my pitch on this, I started playing at around May so I wouldn't say I'm a veteran. However, this is what happened to me. Since I started playing at summer, i had plenty of free time to grind like crazy and to do candle runs everyday. It was such a cool game to me at the time and I loved it. I completed isle-vault in 2 days and I cr everyday for the ts and for normal cosmetics. I did feel like it was getting a little boring, but I still continued since I loved the game. Then, school started. I have loads of homework now and it was increasingly difficult for me to continue cr everyday. At around the mid-august mark, I dropped out of sky because I was just too busy to spend 1 hr+ everyday and in addition to that i was so bored of "the loop". You nailed that reason and that's why I haven't been playing ever since. It felt like candle running was a burden and I had to spend all my free time doing it wor else it will never be done. Now, I look back and thank sky for the beautiful experiences it has gave me. I'm happy to say that Sky is the game that introduced me to the wonderous world of games. It was my first time playing. I loved it and made so many great friends while playing; so for anyone who just started, enjoy Sky while it lasts. Thank you sky for everything that it has taught me.
I been playing for a year and the major issue is repetition. Every season has new content and a different style to play with but also the same? We already collect light and quests daily, why pay a pass just to collect even more? Sky should do more that adds to actually playing a game, there aren’t many mini games. The game is pretty and great to meet people on but my new friends only feel like experiencing that once, and my older friends find it boring.
I don't play every day, but i still like to go on Sky at least once or twice a week just to have some fun with friends. And of course i still collect candles, i want the pretty cosmetics.
Honestly, I can’t say I’m a veteran, but I can say that I’ve been playing for over 2 months and know a decent amount about sky. First, I try to candle run every day, in all the realms that I can. I never usually have time to do all, but I do valley everyday. I listen to music or call my friends, and I do it. I have veteran friends who log on quite often, play everyday. But yes, it is quite repetitive and I have done it less and less. Next, all of my close friends log in everyday, or quite often. They have been playing for a few months, but still enjoy the game. I have them on discord and we talk more on there then we play sky. Some of my friends I never see anymore, but they were never close friends so I’m not sad. For me, there are still tons of places I have never seen, like oob, maybe a few different areas, but I can find them, and I love finding oob. I still get lost because I don’t know a few places that well, but I think I have seen every part of sky. I know since I haven’t been playing that long it isn’t boring for me, but I think old worlds aren’t that bad. When I complete the game, I hope I will still play because I can help others, take part in new seasons and events, play with friends, and it’s just so fun to let go of for me. Some of my friend have 10 wings, but they still play to help others. Lastly, I try to focus more on the point and meaning of the game, rather than how fun it is. It’s meant to teach you nothing lasts forever, and you will have to let go of it at some point, hence eden. I love going to eden with my friends, always brings me so much joy. And I know when I am a veteran and have got everything in the game, I will try to help as many people as I can.
Sky is basically just like our life, but it’s a virtual life in game(on devices) I start playing from a friend recommendation and I became their partner right away, however slowly they got bored of it and slowly we begin to have fights for various reasons and eventually we broke up. It hurts like mad because things ended like this and I’m still very upset about it but I’ll most probably stop soon or later, my constellation are all 100% by now and new season is almost ending. Even TS is starting on Enchantment, I probably won’t last long either. The more I stay inside, the more I cried. So it’s really hurts to not actually know what impact sky had gave us. Not blaming sky it’s a beautiful game but, not on long run. Only to certain extent
Ive played since gratitude season, so I’ve been around for a while. I’ve done basically everything I want to do, gotten everything i strived for. I have a couple close friends, so that’s nice, but none of us are as active as we used to be. The main reason I still play to help out new players. It’s fun running them around the different realms or helping them through eden. I know I would’ve loved it if a veteran player helped me my first go around.
Definitely not a vet (I think I joined in July 2020), but reading these comments has gotten me all introspective and I wanna share about my relationship to the game. Just processing thru a long comment. This has been a weird and lonely year for me not only cuz of COVID but also cuz family problems have left me basically estranged. Sky was a beautiful safe space. I'm on the autistic spectrum and have difficulty making friends and making small talk, so the idea of a social game based on expressions really appealed to me. I experienced a lot of genuine awe, joy, and fear playing thru the first time. I was scared to go to Eden my first time, but a vet took me and the ending of the game literally made me cry. I keep playing cuz it is still a fun, peaceful, safe place to me. I haven't made any deep relationships tho cuz it's hard to get to know people unless you have the table, or have candles to unlock chat. Besides, I'm reluctant to talk too openly with other players cuz while lots of them seem nice, I'm a member of an often-villified minority community so I'm scared that if I talk too much about myself people will show their prejudices and I'll just get hurt. Some of the best moments in Sky have come from connection with other people, but the more people there are the more anxious it makes me. Sometimes I just come to Sky to have quiet alone time, and then the other players annoy me. I think I'm also a little older than most of the players (I'm finishing college soon) so I feel isolated that way too. I love the creativity of the game and how many hidden things there are to discover. I feel my time in Sky drawing to an end soon tho. I never do full candle runs, just collect my season candles and maybe do the valley race or something fun to get a few candles. I enjoy OOB hunting too and finding areas we aren't supposed to find. The new trials are way too stress-inducing to be fun for me. Sky has been a wonderful escape for me, particularly when dealing with some intense emotional things. It's a beautiful game that has been important to me. I'll miss it when I quit because it's been a refuge, and I hope many more people will enjoy it and gain some peace from it after me. Like a good friend, we will inevitably part ways and be left with only memories.
I've been playing this game for a year now. And i feel like, the reason why people get bored is because they get too invested in candle runs that they forget to interact with new players and just RELAX. About 3 months in, after completing eden and doing candle runs, i felt bored as well since it felt like a mundane task. But then i realized that that's because I'm not sitting back and relaxing (which is what the game is about). Now, sometimes i just like going to places and simply listening to the calm music or interacting with new people. The seasonal quests are getting more interesting so that's also great!!! And if i feel bored, i don't play the game for sometime and then i come back to it so it feels brand new again. And like someone else said in the comments. YOU decide when the game is completed. For some it may be completing eden. For others, it may be completing the constellations. For some, it's not the completion that matters, it's the warmth the game provides.
I started playing in 2019 November, and it's been nearly a year. I am a solo player, and I enjoy this game very much. I sometimes try to ignore my friends and play the piano on my own. I do the candle run for at least 4 maps everyday even I have collected all the regular cosmetics months ago, and I still love this game a lot. Yes you're right, there's definitely not enough new content, but the world of sky itself is an interesting story to investigate. The murals in all the maps, the trials in Prophecy cave, the canon and the lil ship in the office, the cute crabs which never crashes people in sanctuary, the pictures printed on the big ship in the Enchanted ark...even OOB areas are mysterious and they attracted me a lot. I practice different glitch techniques with chibi mask and tables, also with piggybacks and different emotes, and it was really fun! Another really important point that sticks me to this game is the key concept of the whole game, it's about the deliverance of kindness and love, and also accepting ourselves. Many years ago, ancestors died in the Storm, what we children of light do is to collect wing lights and give them to the spirits and save them, this is the deliverance of kindness and love. Hearts can be only gifted from friends, this is also another kind of delivery of kindness and love. When krilled in wasteland, your fire has gone out and need the other players to ignite you again, this is also the deliverance of kindness and love. Light itself is representing kindness and love in this game, it makes us feel secured and warm. We are the children of light, we were born to be the light of some random strangers, we were born to ignite people who need help, we were born to deliver love and kindness, we were born with light. The cosmetics also represents that the sky children find and discover who they are, and understand themselves more, nobody will be restricted by physical reasons. The hug with the shiny boy in Eden touches me a lot and I can't stop crying when I first went through Eden. Till now, I still cry when I listen to the credit song before we go back to the home space. I think I won't stop playing sky until TGC closes the server. This game is absolutely amazing and is the best game in my heart!!!! btw. Been playing since Rhythm started. Ngl the second reason is why I rarely went online now. My friend thinks that Sky is different now. It doesn't have the magical feeling anymore. Honestly, I thought so too. But I was going to stay until she suddenly said that she's going to move on from this game. It was so sudden that I cried at that time. We added each other on discord, but it's not going to be the same anymore. And the fact that I first met her at the home space made me feel nostalgic all the time when I logged in to Sky. So I kinda went on a hiatus rn. I missed her, I missed our interactions with each other.
A HEART-BREAKING STORY. i had to delete the game in July. before i deleted the game i had a lot of friends and i was having a lot of fun. like we were chatting for hours even if we do nothing. when i reinstalled the game months later, i noticed that most of my friends weren't active. especially my bestie seemed to give up the game after i left. this made me very sad. i told him i'd come back but i must be late to go back. now playing sky doesn't give as much pleasure as before. i can understand why the old players gave up
The only reason Im still playing sky is because I want to complete all the constellations and learn songs on every instrument. After thats done Imma take a break, but Sky is honestly one of my favorite comfort games. Sometimes the simplicity and repetitivness really helps with my anxiety and bipolar. The game is just very relaxing.
I've finish all of the constellation after 5 months. A friend left me. I play solo. But i know that i would never leave sky 😂 Cuz what? First, Ive spent so much time and money in Sky. It's literally a waste if i quit xd. Second, i have weird mindset but my skykid is like myself. In which i adore the most and would never leave even if other would leave. In a shorter meaning, i love my skykid 🤩
Aww, I have a similar mindset, but I think eventually i will be okay with playing much less, however I would still like to see my skykid and friends atleast once every two weeks :)

Thank you for giving me more reasons to quit sky. I've been on and offline across a range of almost a year, tried unsuccessfully to quit many times. I've had urges to buy candles with real money and did do so. I'm aware of myself sinking deeper into the quicksand of the game, so I'm determined to quit. Glad that I am not alone on this matter.
The most hardest thing that I had to deal with after I quit sky was bidding farewell to all those friends I made on it , the moment I got past that it was not a problem, so just don’t let emotions get the better of you
I’m quitting bc I’m starting to realize tgc doesn’t care about us and only the money the prices of cosmetics are rising they raised 1 million dollars for the covid relief fundraiser imagine how much they make per season yet they only have 40 employees and constant bugs they even release beta bugs to live I met my best friend through sky and we’ve remained friends but we both feel very tired of how tgc has treated us and the grinding
Generally I use sky to chat and hang out with my long distance friends. We mostly just chill at home or somewhere chatting 😅 I'm extremely thankful for the friendships I've made and the community sky has. I've been avoiding completing constellations so I don't feel that finality. I really wish they could add more things for older players. Switching things up more, varied quests, longer quests, more elder items, or special AC items. I'm happy they added new kinds of game play in the new season. I hope I'll be playing sky for a long time.
My friend plan to quit playing Sky because its all collecting candles, he is playing Genshin Impact now he recommended me playing Genshin Impact, its fun to play. I will keep playing sky to meet new people and new updates. I will miss him though bye bye good Sky friend
Honestly I sign in just to check if two of my friends are online. If they aren’t, I go offline. My best sky friends told me that if they hadn’t met me they would’ve quit sky completely because their friends were either too much drama or they were bored as heck. Tbh, sky get really boring at times. Farming is exhausting. But I still have this urge to play because I want to spend time with only 2 people out of my entire overloaded constellation. Ahahahah,, I love them with all my heart and that’s probably why I’m still in the game:>I fear for losing contact with those two beautiful people... if one day they leave, I’d quit.
As someone who started playing a bit before the Season of Enchantment started, I guess I'm sort of a "veteran," and yes, I do completely agree with the points you gave. I do believe that Sky's biggest flaw is being very repetitive, and it's been a problem for a while. Before the Season of Prophecy started, I did, of course, start to find it boring. The only thing that kept me playing was having really good friends that made the tiring candle runs so much more enjoyable. But I have to say that the Season of Prophecy was a very unexpected improvement! The trials are really fun and are actually challenging, which gives me the hope that TGC is listening to our critics and is putting their effort into adding more interesting things to the game. I am hoping that Sky will continue to try their best into adding more to the game to make it all the better! Other than that, even if the game can be boring with the candle runs and quests being the same, there's no other game I'd rather play more than Sky.
The friend one hit soo well.. especially when it's not they stop playing,but it's when they meet new people and we got abandoned 😌that make some emotional and want to stop playing 😌
As a veteran, I have to agree with repetetive = boring. But honestly, TGC is a small company and they can't just keep adding new content, they are only adding mini-areas beaucse Sky was based on the levels of life, which is why they can't add a complete new land. It is really sad, honestly. I'm a 2019 player and my first sky friends all nearly never log in. I miss them, and I miss hanging out with them.
As someone who has played sky for almost three years, (Sky Light Awaits and Sky COTL) I've had to take breaks since at times there's almost nothing to do. But, I'm back :) A lot of my friends have also quit, or took a break as well, like Gigi's sky journey.
As a Sky player who’s been playing for 1 year now, this is all true. Especially the friends one. I am truly aware and tried to be mindful of TGC being a small team so I can’t never blame them. My friends started getting busy or tired to play Sky, because of that, it loses it’s shine for me, I truly prefer playing Sky with friends -also, despite playing the game for 1 years, I’m not done with the constellation rip XoX Traveling Spirit succeeded in taking my candles- Either way, Sky is still a game I keep in my heart. Can’t bear the thought of deleting the game, I just can’t abandon my friends

I joined April 2020. I wouldn't say I'm a veteran player but for all the reasons above I'm now extremely inactive in Sky. I try to come back for TS spirits and new cosmetics since they prob won't come back until much later. After getting elder hair and the major cosmetics I want, it's been hard to get myself to get back into especially when Sky is so repetitive. And once you know all the tricks, gimmicks and layouts of the worlds, It's hard to get into candle running. Eden used to be extremely fun for me when I went with friends cause it was the one thrill out of the repetitiveness from the other worlds (mainly cause my friends loved to do fun things there, hide and seek, or just purposely losing wings). But now those friends are inactive, eden has joined the other worlds in their feeling of boredom
Honestly. As an old sky player. I didn’t quit for any of those reasons. I quit after a couple big updates to the game, like they changed the entire layout of things, and how to progress in the game. And most importantly of all. The controls. I have tried to go back into it because i loved to game, but the controls are so restricting. Before they were far more fluid and easy to use. But now it just doesn’t feel like that anymore. Now you have to click a button to fly up, or else you would just plummet down, like before it was just that you would fly if you were in the air no matter what, and just a flick of the finger, or starting to steer you could fly. It was so fluid and nice. I don’t know why they changed it, but i liked the way it was before so much better, because it was far easier to fly. So yeh i quit for a dumb reason.
I wouldn’t say that’s a dumb reason at all. Flying is an integral part of traversing the world. It’s like... idk trying to run with a rock in your shoe when there wasn’t one before. I joined back in June of this year, but I’ve been poking around some older forums. It sounds like Sky really was an entirely different game. Apparently you could straight up outmaneuver the krill? And there was this one comment that stuck with me. “Flying was freedom”
i had never been a beta tester before global release, but ive been playing since august 2018 and i can definitely relate with these points. i haven’t quit sky (i honestly don’t think i will until there’s no more updates, and i doubt that’ll be any time soon), but there are some periods of burnout i get. i didn’t play sky for around three seasons in a row, but came back full force with enchantment, sanctuary, and prophecy. but there’s always moments where i get burnt out. to solve this issue, i find oobs, help new players, candle run while listening to music i enjoy, work towards cosmetics, try to complete constellations, and get ultimate gifts if there’s a season. but i wish i could relive playing sky for the first time again, the nostalgia would be amazing.
I met a really beautiful girl in sky ( in real life she was wonderful, we were both 18) I remember playing with her a lot! But she quit playing this game or something and I still don't know why! I play this game now and I miss her! Her Facebook account is deleted and I can't find a way of finding her anymore :( I am alone again, ah man, and I really liked her, and yet for the last time, I was never able to say: I love you
I wasn’t there at the very start, I think I started playing around 2018/2019, it hadn’t been that popular yet. The reason why I stopped is because of the fandom, the fandom was getting toxic and it was just consuming so much time. I would play Sky instead of doing homework, and the pressure to get every new item was just too high. I decided for my mental health, it’d be best if I deleted the game. I also got tired of being reborn every week and having to collect my wings again, plus the devs were being kind of rude to people as I heard.
I'll agree with the candle run. I'm new player and I play solo. I collected every emotes but it's quite boring to collect wax every day. I haven't played for few days now. Now that new season starts I'll start collecting again.
As a old player, who was the first few that download it right after it was release, this is quite true. Not to mention back then, the stuff were different compare to now.
I first started playing in 2017, then stopped because I got bored and never really understood what I had to do. I had 2 other irl friends who played it too, but they weren’t active so it wasn’t fun. I came back to the game recently and it’s definitely a lot more fun. I regret not being there door past seasons though :(
I'm not a veteran, in fact I only play for 1 and a half season, but this's my reason why I quit for good. The daily grind is boring, and the reward from it is just cosmetics and emotes, which is really tiring to collect them all. You won't use all of them anyway, and some just looks pretty bland. Also the grind takes too much time even when your friend carries you around. Collecting candles is just a chore, it's basically just remembering where all the candles are. Looking at the same scenes everyday didn't help. They look cool at first, but when you visit them everyday knowing every hidden routes and secrets, it's not that special anymore. Grinding candles aside, it's a social game. Some people can easily make new friends, but some people don't... well me, atleast. I got really awkward and panicky when random people approaching me. It's mentally taxing also to chat with new people for like half an hour doing nothing. That's why I quit. I don't have too many friends on there (even most of them are irl friends), I don't have that much accs/emotes. I'm glad that some people like it because I can see why, it's just not the game for me.
i don't think it's a bad thing that people stop playing Sky. Some things aren't meant to be played continuously. Some things have a beginning and an end. I actually prefer playing this game alone. I feel disappointed when one of my friends comes to join me on a run because all I really want to do is just have a nice peaceful quiet flight. I could spend hours just flying around, thinking, listening to music and just enjoying the casual and fleeting interactions that I do share with strangers.
Friends leaving will never be a reason for me to stop playing this game.

As someone who plays sky a lot (and that I’ve been around for seven months), I can say with certainty that candle runs are insanely boring, and I almost never do them. Sky is really repetitive, which I feel like might be its worst flaw.
Hibiscuspuddle sky is a very open-ended game, there’s a main story line but then when you went to Eden like 20 times the only thing you really have let is to just candle run and obtain cosmetics, I cannot bring myself to candle run half the realms (valley, golden wasteland and daylight prairie)
I’m just glad that the season of prophesy is bringing something new! I’m so excited for the trials!!

I’m a veteran and all of these are just facts at this point. The only reason I go online is because when I mentioned it to my friends that I’d be leaving they begged me not to. This game has been involved with a lot of emotionally attached memories that I formed with my friends, there are things that we can’t control and friendships just escalates and dies at one point for some. Not to mention that because of that I ended up choosing to go solo/hiatus for months before I was stable enough to let other people in my life again. Even with that whole shenanigans the game is incredibly boring in my perspective after playing for so long (no offense, I just had to admit it.) Me and my other Veteran friends discussed about this topic and after that most of them just left after saying goodbye or rarely went online.
Now that the community is growing and Sky is getting more popular it doesn’t exactly “feel like before” is what we would say, before the huge updates, before the global release, before the android release. Everything is just different and the feeling we once had in playing the game became cold and stale (not all the time of course, just in a nutshell).

I saw some other comment here abt Sky being their second life and I haven’t related so much to something in months. I started playing March 1st 2020 during lockdown and I did isle-vault in 2 days. I waited weeks before I dared to do Eden (x At fist the thing that kept me playing was the collection of cosmetics and to explore the world, but after a while it started to get boring. I started looking for friends in-game (it turns out there’s nearly no ppl in my country that has even heard abt this game, so no use looking there). I talked to strangers as much as possible as it was the only enjoyable thing for me atm, and finally in June I met a person at a random table in prairie (x She was a bit older than me, but we still got along. She even introduced me to another one of her friends. Only days later the three of us met FOUR different ppl that we got along with. All 7 of us actually call ourselves a family. The girl I met on that table is now my Sky mom that I love with all my heart, I have a Sky dad that I reference memes with all the time, I have 2 lovely Sky aunties that I candle run with and talk abt musical theatre with and 2 adorable younger cousins that i would die for. I honestly have a better relationship to my friends on Sky than on the few friends I have irl. I’m terrified of my family one day dissolving and leaving Sky. Some of them only play once a week when the entire family meet up for Eden. I haven’t had likeminded friends irl in 8 years, so meeting all these amazing ppl online feels like blessing. Sky is the only place this could happen and I’m eternally grateful for tgc’s view on strangers from all over the world socializing online. While the fact that the game heavily relies on having friends might be a great struggle for many (I’ve been there), I also think it has saved a lot of ppl (also been there).

You’ve got the reasons pointed out, cause I had these 2 friends back in 2019 during Sky: Lights Awaits. They were my mentor. Showed me places I’ve never been to, lead me to collect emotes and went with me thru Eden. Just when Sky: LA turned into Sky: COTL. Aviary was gone and a new lobby, Home Space.
Many memories were made and of course, they took a break from Sky.
I hope one day I can see them again and this time, introduce them to the new world of Sky.

for me this game is like a second life, a brand new start, a brand new world, with a brand new friends, i remember the first time i played sky was 5 months ago, i know im not a veteran but to me its a long time, i completed the first eden run in one sitting, but at my first play i met a girl and i was simping for her, so we played alot of it, get to know each other and one day she just dissapeared, and at that point on sky was really boring, until i played it again recently to make new friends and yeah the content is boring, but for me meeting new strangers and get to know them never gets old, but hey thats just my opinion

Do you still play it and enjoy it? I'm playing since 5th of february of this year, it's past 5 months and honestly im already getting bored. I've been full candle running every single day and I'm about to complete all the consellations, and even there are tons of Ts that I haven't unlocked yet and we keep having new seasons and events, the game in the base doesn't really change much, you just candle run every day, complete dailies and that's it. It's enjoyable if you have/found friends to play the game together, it's still enjoyable to a point but honestly, it get's boring to me after that, especially since all my friends left sky.
Don't get me wrong, the game and it's idea of exploring a wide world with friends and meeting new strangers and hanging out with them is cool, but everything in the game being so expensive is forcing players to candle run every single day, doing same things and going to same places every single day makes it a lot less enjoyable. The game would be great if the way we get candles was different and not something repeating (example, every hour you hang out with a friend you get a candle etc - this would also be good for tgc who says "players should socialize") or at the very least items were a lot cheaper so it wouldn't force players to full cr every day and giving all their free time to candle running.
@@enolathealone I only play once amonth for now, since the new ts or items dont even give me interest anymore, but whilst i left sky i managed to get some friends that i still contact till today, we exchanged social medias and supported each other when theres trouble, sky did leave a huge impact on my life but nevertheless, its nothing than a memory for me

Hi, I’m an old player and I just wanted to share my experience. I found Sky through a Facebook advertisement and I was immediately intrigued.
I started playing Sky in 2018 and the game has gone through many, many, changes. I quit after playing for around 5 months. Why? One reason was because they changed so much things. One change that bothered me was the new flight system back then. Before that new flight system, we were able to fly freely.
Another thing that made me quit Sky was a thing you mentioned in your video, the game becoming boring. Back then, I didn’t know you could do candle runs to gain more candles so while playing Sky, I just roamed around all the realms. While roaming the Sky kingdom, there were little to no players I could light or talk with, we were just a small community back then. But when I do come across other players, most of them would become my friends which made me happy, but I never got to talk to them. Until one day, I decided to try and go through Wasteland (I haven’t reached the temple back then because I was afraid of the Krills lmao). A stranger came in and befriended me. They guided me through the entire realm. While we did lose our emotes (we lost emotes back then rather than winged light), I was glad that someone came and helped me. We unlocked chat and talked to each other. They kept apologizing because we kept getting hit by Krills haha.
Weeks later we went through the last realm and finished it. I almost cried during the ending. But, I didn’t know what to do afterwards. I went through the realm again but this time I went alone. I roamed the realms again and again, but the kingdom felt empty. That was when I decided to quit Sky.
COVID spread through the entire world and we stayed in our homes, isolated from the world. My friends from school chat with me sometimes only, so I felt lonely. I kept drawing illustrations, but it never felt enough. I scrolled through Instagram, but I felt empty. Until, I found a post related to Sky. The sensation I felt when I saw that post was nostalgic. The game looked so different, there were new cosmetics and new things. It made me melancholic. So, I came back to the Sky kingdom.
I was in awe, it was like I was playing the game with a fresh start. The servers weren’t empty, there were kids running around. It felt like my loneliness disappeared. After 2 weeks, I finally reunited with my friend and I was happy. I roamed around the realms with people I could befriend. People sat with me on the chat benches. I made new friends. It was a place I could escape to from reality.
Sorry for the long comment and possibly bad grammar;; I wanted to get something out of my chest. Sky: Children of the Light helps me cope during this pandemic. I’m really glad I came back.

Before Sky was released on Mobile, everyone was legit nice. The bored senpais always picked up and helped the little ones and you'll always randomly see flocks of 3-6 flying around with one Pro and the rest newbies. It was a really nice era in Sky but sadly it's gone now..

I honestly don’t think this is true, it’s all still the same even after mobile. I have met an amazing friend group because I met 4 players in Prairie in my moth days, and the fam grew and grew.

It's so true.. it happened to me just yesterday..
Sometimes i'm already with another player and then i'm overwhelmed to communicate with everyone seperately (when they dont know each other and we cant do groupchat). Last time i went with my little brother to help him do his first eden run. and a friend wanted to come along and hold my hand but just went off too fast. He didnt realize that my brother needed my help. so i had to let him go and do the "no" emote. i didnt want to come off as rude, but sometimes other player can make things harder :(
i think it’s mostly because of the amount of social interactions that take place. i have so many friends in my constellation and a solid 85-95% of them are simply friends i made for heart fragments.
additionally, continuously meeting and talking to new people means that i’m always trying to keep track of new people and the extent of our interaction is maybe one conversation at most. i actually name my friends based on how i meet them otherwise i can’t keep track of who’s who.
and finally i only have a couple close friends on sky and those are the ones i spend the most time with, so i’m so dedicated to the handful of very close friends that i tend not to spend as much time with those who i don’t normally see.
I actually met a friend from a Yt comment we actually made a year last month,she thought me how to play sky. Even though we’re on the opposite sides of the earth I love her like my own sister.😭

As a (apparently?) veteran player that's been playing since the start of Lightseekers, I don't know what really keeps me in the game, to stop playing it is like suddenly just never coming home because you don't like this one couch in your room. Sky is... almost like home to me. I don't play any other games that require a high amount of dedication like sky, and I pretty much don't want to. Literally, it's just home. It's not perfect, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Perhaps it's the community that keeps me there? The comfort of having something so beautiful be so familiar to me? Even as a moth, Sky never felt foreign or strange to me- I suppose the first actual game you really play feels like that.
Quitting such a game like that isn't something sudden, like a quick yank at the heartstrings. It's gradual, something that grows inside of you that you never question, never even think much of. It just happens. @Starbyt the Doodler explains it so well, that games in this explorative, vague-lore format have their end only where you decide, and I think that's what make the world of Sky feel so wonderful and peaceful, but not overly fantastical and static- it feels real.
Maybe as a newer player, seeing someone quit like that and ever so slowly detach seems so unbelievable and immense (I know I would as a moth), but you just eventually... _understand._
Personally, all this potentially menial task-doing and candle-running gives me some sort of solace. I don't think Sky should be seen as a place "full of adventure and discovery", but rather of peace and relaxation, like the home you don't really have to leave.
I know for a fact players will all have a very personal, emotional relationship with Sky, being the emotional game, no, _world_ that it is, so it probably resonates with different people really differently.
Who knows. Maybe my thoughts will expire with time.

Tbh the reasons I'd almost quit as because everything is getting super expensive. Like the game is getting more popular and things are getting even more expensive which is just wack to me. I'd bought every season pass from gratitude to sanctuary. Things are also getting abit repetitive and they're starting to not listen as much. They're removing things and fixing things nobody asked for. The day they remove the chunk glitch is the day I quit

Not a veteran. Played during the time Rhythm ended but yes, there came a time when candle runs were just dull for me. I’d stare at my friend constellation and see lots of them not receiving the light I gave them cause they’ve been inactive.
What keeps me bound to the game are:
1.) the lore. I want to know more about the world. It’s so vague. We’re not always fed with words. I’m just really into knowing the history.
2.) Piano. I want to be able to learn how to play different songs on it.
3.) Moths. My gaaahhh they’re so cute. 🥺 I mostly hang out in Wasteland and make sure they don’t get krilled. Helping people is something I always found fun and satisfying.
Like what someone said here in the comment section, this game is like my second life too. More entertaining since I can fly and it’s more magical than the one I have now. The emotes are funny. People are cute too. Here and in game, I have friends who leave and it does upset me cause I never got to say goodbye. So I focus on helping others, especially newbies, to make sure they have fun in the game and just get a grasp of how things work. Like in real life, I don’t even play at all to do quests. I just talk and chat with friends. Know how things are going on in their lived and all.
Hope TGC does something about this. Am still hoping for new meditation questions.
I’m a veteran player I stopped playing I thought I really quit sky but I didn’t delete the app. I came back when season of rhythm was 1 week away from ending. To this day all my fellow veteran friends don’t play sky so I decided to unfriend them since I don’t wanna be reminded of that pain of losing friends. I’m glad I came back honestly and honestly I prefer making new player friends (I have a soft spot for moths now lol). I can’t wait to see what sky will look like in 2-5 years.

I’ve always enjoyed the loops, my entire life is big and unpredictable, things change way too often. But in sky, I feel like I have more control in my life. I feel more stable. The changes are small and you can always find people to help you if you can’t find your way.
Same, rituals and routines for me are the only things that make me stable, that one hour a day of sky feels like heaven sometimes

I remember when I first joined sky I thought the realms were different levels and when you get to the highest realm you are one of the strongest lmao 🤣. I was wrong and pretty disappointed when I learned there was only 7 realms and you couldn’t go further. Haha I thought my sky kid was gonna turn into a sky adult.

@@raiyahambermediodia8754 They are doing that. The hollow tree in the sunny meadow of Forest; Forbidden Arc in Wasteland; Sanctuary in Prairie; Prophecy caves in Isle; all of them are add-ons. They are not going to increase the number of realms with portal gates at Home. If you want to know why, check out the poster on the wall beside the fridge in Office.

Reading these comments have made me realize a lot about myself and why I play this game... So here’s my reflection:
It’s true, Sky has a different atmosphere now. Sometimes the community can be toxic, and it’s extremely upsetting given the goal of the game- to bring people together. And eventually after spending hundreds of hours doing something, you will become bored.
Online friends are real friends. They can be so much easier to talk to than people you know in real life. However, they’re so much easier to lose. People typically see their friends face-to-face multiple times a week (at work, school, etc.), but you may not talk to online friends for weeks or months at a time. The pain you feel at loosing a friend is still there.
Sky has introduced me to amazingly talented and kind people from all over the world. I have learned about different cultures. I have become better at communicating my thoughts to other people. It has acted as an escape from reality for over a year when I’ve been anxious. Heck, I’ve even started learning Chinese because of the game.
Despite enjoying it less now, it is an experience I would never trade... no matter how many times I want to experience it all again.
sky is going to die out even more with how they currently are going, its repetitive, they lock the new content behind pay walls that are way too high (55 dollars for all the halloween cosmetics) and lack of variety

i mean i would say they are a company so they kind of have to lock the most wanted cosmetics behind IAPs and things otherwise they wouldn’t be profiting.
and then on top of that they do add new content every year so it’s just a matter of taking time and over the years acquiring cosmetics behind paywalls and not buying it all at once.
I used to be fascinated by the game when i downloaded it in mid 2019 and met my first online friend. We had alot to talk about, stories to tell and legit ask questions and be fascinated by philosophy, talked about being in an ideal world to live in where there is less of sins. What caused us to drift apart is our different views on his friends. At first when we hang out, he said he just needed one friend to be with, but due to miscommunication issues and a busy college life, he decided to make more friends, the more I got busy with my own studies.... and thought it really was our time to drift apart. His friends even told him I am a bad example to ever get close to if I can't take some time out of my life to be there for him....
which is completely WRONG. We texted daily on discord and I make sure I listened to him, even when I was tired and got little sleep. Finding reasons why it was good to have left him and his so called friends. For starters he is homophobic and extremely religious which made me think "how would he be like if he met my friends in the lgbt community?", "would they get along or nah?". I do not have any problems of people for their religious beliefs or if they are in the gay pride community. If I could not get along with his other friends, then it was the end of ours as well....
Sky was just never the same again....
Anyways despite all that had happened, it was a good learning experience. To never hope for too much in a person you just met, it takes time for a mutual friendship to be molded, and since everyone has egos, does not mean you have to give up on them if you truly LOVE them, YOU STILL BE there FOR THEM.
I wish all the new users in sky a goodluck and just enjoy your journey with the friends that you have while it lasts, and if so there is a group of friends, make sure everyone listens to each other and try to not prioritize your friends over the other (depends on how private matters are but try not to cause so much drama, these are probably people who live far and can not see how you feel at times and you really do not want to hurt them) This is why I say a small collection of friends or just a few friend, heck even one friend is enough....

i’ve been playing since early gratitude, and i’d like to add that the recent popularity of the game has brought people in that are often.. quite spoiled, and mess with my perspective on things. i remember friending someone and unlocking chat, and they immediately started talking about how they had every cosmetic in the game, but weren’t playing for all the seasons, and said that “[they] were going to get [an item they didn’t have] soon” soon after the TS’s were introduced. and that felt really... off to me.
to me, sky isn’t a game about cosmetics or items, it’s about the atmosphere and the players you meet. so it felt very strange to hear that after immediately unlocking chat with someone. but i do have to agree with the not a lot of new content point, the quests are so so boring to me, and i wish they’d add more quests
Hmm weird. I never encountered those people in Sky, when I unlocked chat with my long time friend, he was insanely happy and kind and I thanked him for helping me when I was still a moth in the Wasteland. I never encountered those people who bragged about cosmetics.

Because once you beat the game and get max cape and get your favorite combo after repetitive days of candle running there's nothing else to do.I played sky for 3 months with friends but these new seasons are just not entertaining anymore so I quit a couple months back.Waiting for switch release
but hey, you can still complete all the spirit constellations but i also agree that candle farming and collecting hearts everyday is a pain (╯︵╰,)

Admire the little things even if its just a spirt pose or a little flower
If there’s a new season new spirt etc not to go all at it and collect / get there cosmetics all in one time
Let’s say you need to get some eden candles but u really don’t feel like it DONT FORCE YOURSELF TO!
And most importantly to take breaks even if there long (make sure to tell your friends though!)
why would you need eden candles tho? you only need 2 to unlock the wing buff and around 10 for spells. they're kinda useless you want extra fun

Don't forget about getting motion sick because of the lag (Android player) and auto-changing angle camera that makes the players really dizzy lmao. To be honest, I'm new player of sky. Played since June 2020 and already want to stop because of the lag and loop.
That's why I seldom do candle run. But now I have to because Travelling Spirit of Rhythm season is coming. Ugh.

I’m still relatively new in sky terms, but old enough to make a statement. I’ve played since January 2020, just before Season of Rhythm started. Sky gets really repetitive after awhile, the only reason I stay is to collect all of the cosmetics, get to 11 buffs and play with my irl friends.
If I’m gonna be completely honest here, after Sky’s jump in popularity when it was released for Android, it started to feel less like the game I experienced. Traveling Spirits, although cool, have definitely taken away the token of being in the game for as long as you have. People who payed actual money to support sky get to watch as people get to take this token away from them. I’m a little nervous to watch more spirits come, I already feel bad enough for the long long-term players. And some seasons (looking at you, Sanctuary) have totally broken the fantasy and ancient feel of Sky. Maybe I’m just getting old in this game, idk.
Either way, I’m glad people are enjoying it as much as I used to. Maybe they’ll find something in Sky that I never will. I probably won’t quit, but being active is really hard the more you do it.
EDIT: Plus, I’ve invested WAY too much money in this game to quit now! I still love it, but time goes by, y’know?

Another reason is how TGC manages their game. They feel like TGC doesn't really have a plan on what they're going to do with the game (Ehem.. traveling spirit... Ehem... Current TS system in Beta).

I didn’t really get bored with Sky, candle-running everyday just makes me happy especially with friends that come online each hour I’m available. For Season Of Prophecy, I was very VERY excited. To be honest, patience isn’t really a part of me so all the waiting for the Season Of Prophecy drowned away my excitement.
I completely love TGC’s games. Sky is like my second life, where I can just do what I want, where I feel free, where I can skip around without any dangerous thing out there harming me. There was no limit when it came to Sky, I can be anything I want there in Sky, this game is the root of me and my Sky friends’ friendships, everyday we candle-run while sharing funny moments and emotional experiences in which it left me completely touched knowing that there are good people out there.
ive been playing for nearly 2 years and these reasons all p much sum it up, expect the cosmetics for me, the only reason why i returned to playing it daily/often is because i've gained friends who constantly play. But besides that I don't really get the same excitement when I play except when its hanging out in Eden or maybe Wasteland doing random things like messing w krill. Hopefully the new seasons and their trials will make it more entertaining
I used to play daily and so far I went through two and a half seasons but now I don’t even get on anymore cause I feel bored. It gets repetitive fast so the game depends heavily on social aspects and that’s fun and all but I really prefer gameplay. I went on a cosmetic crazy phase but now I’m even over collecting them cause I’ve had enough haha. It’s still a really good game and I don’t regret playing

hi, old sky player here, ive been playing sky for one year+ and what you said are accurately true. when i first played i was impressed and amazed of how beautiful the sceneries in game are, and also people’s kindness(early game). i met a lot of people in sky and some of them became close friends with me. sky was everything for me to cope with irl, but the game is not the only reason i lost interest , the bad people is what im scared of. ive been s*xually harassment indirectly through a friend of a friend, and s*lf-h***ing because of a relative who played with me, and i was so so angry because these kind of people playing this warmhearted game-
-and what’s im not fond of about the game being popular after the global release is, there are so, so many fangirls shipping characters in the game. i mean im the person who shipping my ocs too, but the massive ships in the fandom are...unreal. true that the characters and skykids are important, but barely anyone notice the hidden sceneries, and by that i mean the smallest details in every realms that you usually passing by when candles run/doing something else, and it makes me sad that they’ve been forgotten in the game.
oh yes, the candles run and stars run are really frustrating if you play sky long enough. ive memorized every nooks and crannies of where they are for a long time ago and too busy/lazy to spend hours on them. dont even care if i dont have enough stars because as above mentioned. now im active in the game just to do the season’s quests and take the additional seasonal candle from the pass which, a friend bought and gave me so i cant just let their hard work go to waste.
finally, despite i have so much friends in the constellation, the close ones dont even online much now as theyre busying with work/school/life, and the others are mostly japanese/foreigners friends that i met throughout the game so we cant really chatting or playing. i do prefer playing alone doe. sorry for the rant, thats all c:
I’ve been playing just about daily since June of this year and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. Season of Sanctuary was... alright. The cosmetics were pretty goofy, I mostly just wanted the manta cape lol.
The loop is... yeah, you put it perfectly. I find myself wondering, ‘why am I doing this again? Am I actually enjoying this?’ I’ve joined a Sky discord server, so that’s freshened things up some, but it still feels a bit... hollow. Somehow. Maybe it’s because I don’t really chat with anyone.
Season of Prophecy looks to be shaping up to be quite interesting with its capeless trials, but once this season is over I’m definitely backing off. Not quitting entirely, but popping in and playing because I enjoy it and not because I feel like I need to or else I’m gonna miss out on something
(Warning, long comment as I really love this game and hope to see it improve) The game needs more things to do essentially. This game has the chance to be one of those open worlders without the violence and need for PVP. The quests are too repetitive, the only thing you can do out of season is candle running which gets stale very fast. There needs to be more sandbox elements I feel, and they need to up their level/quest design, essentially all of yhem are "Do this at a place". There is no real challenge. I feel like things like more complex, challenging scavenger hunts (something that Season of Ecnhantment was able to do, but they were too simple),more puzzle based areas, and just generally more areas to explore with "activity areas" that go beyond sitting on a bench. Weekly events would also help (but not like the quests that we have now)
Right now Sky is in a rut as a game because it can get boring quickly and the social aspect gets too focused on by devs. I feel like more interactivity with players and the world will EASILY solve this. The new upcoming season is definitely TGC upping their game design to new levels and hopefully is a precursor to more amazing things
I guess the "loop" isn't just about the repetitive candle runs, being reborn, or other activities in the game. I think it's also about meeting new people, getting close to them, losing them, then meeting new people again and the loop goes on. It's emotionally tiring. Another thing is no matter how beautiful this game is, once players get used to it, it will eventually lose it's spark to some (if not all) unless there is always something new.
Sky is a game that used to make me really happy. Yeah..it used to :') Now it feels bittersweet. Reminded me that there will always be things we can't always take back no matter how badly we wanted to go back to how it used to be. This has been more than just a game for me.
I met my favorite people in the game. Whenever I am with them, I literally lmao. They are the kind of people I can talk to from the silliest things to the most serious stuff. I can be myself. It felt like I found real friends online. I actually met lots of people but I don't consider everyone I know as "friends". I think this was the peak when I was at my happiest in the game (when my time in sky used to revolve around them). But things happened and more friends started to come but I guess that is when things started to get sad for me. There have been people as well I wish I didn't met in the game.
I rarely go online now and started to fully understand one of my friend's reasons of quitting. I started to adjust myself going solo and eventually got used to it. Going solo made me feel better and reflect on myself. That being alone is not equivalent to being lonely. I also don't know why but it's somehow draining for me to constantly be with people. I even had to cut myself off from people from time to time because I feel so drained. I don't think I would want to get used to people's presence again. I miss my fave people in the game but I know they have their own group of friends now. The one I'm closest to stopped going online for a while now which makes me really sad. I'm close to quitting anyway and I feel like it is better this way. I'm just saving up enough candles so I will have savings in case I wanted to go back. I still miss the old times though.

Also some very old players quit when their most favorite place is removed like aviary or the very old starting place which is now just at the starting of prarie today (i meant the one which was once a cave but now an entrance for prarie)

i don't think i'm a veteran player nor newbie, but the second reason hit really hard. i remember the time i've first lit someone's candle which was also a new player like me, i kept following them afraid that i would lose someone who i first met and not meet them again. then i realized you could add players since they added me and that was the most happiest moment i had in this game. until 6 months i wasn't seeing them anymore and i was always sad since that day. i've always thought of leaving but my other side keeps saying no. i'm glad i still met a lot of amazing people i've met in sky who changed my life
I can't remember when I joined sky, but it was during the light awaits winter2018 season.
I went back to sky and left again a few months ago, during the previous season, partially because of timezones.
When aviary was still a thing, there wasn't a lot of people playing when I did, during the day. It was only at later hours at night that the servers would have people, and because of the game's focus on social things, I'd burn myself out playing that late, wanting to get some candles for unlocking emotes+cosmetics and all that.
I stopped mainly because of how tired I got of it, from the burnout and the repetition, though I do regret not letting my sky friends know about this.
I think that if the old quests came back (the ones that actually have VARIETY), they would actually be fun.

To add my pitch on this, I started playing at around May so I wouldn't say I'm a veteran. However, this is what happened to me. Since I started playing at summer, i had plenty of free time to grind like crazy and to do candle runs everyday. It was such a cool game to me at the time and I loved it. I completed isle-vault in 2 days and I cr everyday for the ts and for normal cosmetics. I did feel like it was getting a little boring, but I still continued since I loved the game. Then, school started. I have loads of homework now and it was increasingly difficult for me to continue cr everyday. At around the mid-august mark, I dropped out of sky because I was just too busy to spend 1 hr+ everyday and in addition to that i was so bored of "the loop". You nailed that reason and that's why I haven't been playing ever since. It felt like candle running was a burden and I had to spend all my free time doing it wor else it will never be done.
Now, I look back and thank sky for the beautiful experiences it has gave me. I'm happy to say that Sky is the game that introduced me to the wonderous world of games. It was my first time playing. I loved it and made so many great friends while playing; so for anyone who just started, enjoy Sky while it lasts. Thank you sky for everything that it has taught me.

I been playing for a year and the major issue is repetition. Every season has new content and a different style to play with but also the same? We already collect light and quests daily, why pay a pass just to collect even more?
Sky should do more that adds to actually playing a game, there aren’t many mini games.
The game is pretty and great to meet people on but my new friends only feel like experiencing that once, and my older friends find it boring.
I don't play every day, but i still like to go on Sky at least once or twice a week just to have some fun with friends. And of course i still collect candles, i want the pretty cosmetics.
Honestly, I can’t say I’m a veteran, but I can say that I’ve been playing for over 2 months and know a decent amount about sky.
First, I try to candle run every day, in all the realms that I can. I never usually have time to do all, but I do valley everyday. I listen to music or call my friends, and I do it. I have veteran friends who log on quite often, play everyday. But yes, it is quite repetitive and I have done it less and less.
Next, all of my close friends log in everyday, or quite often. They have been playing for a few months, but still enjoy the game. I have them on discord and we talk more on there then we play sky. Some of my friends I never see anymore, but they were never close friends so I’m not sad.
For me, there are still tons of places I have never seen, like oob, maybe a few different areas, but I can find them, and I love finding oob. I still get lost because I don’t know a few places that well, but I think I have seen every part of sky. I know since I haven’t been playing that long it isn’t boring for me, but I think old worlds aren’t that bad.
When I complete the game, I hope I will still play because I can help others, take part in new seasons and events, play with friends, and it’s just so fun to let go of for me. Some of my friend have 10 wings, but they still play to help others.
Lastly, I try to focus more on the point and meaning of the game, rather than how fun it is. It’s meant to teach you nothing lasts forever, and you will have to let go of it at some point, hence eden. I love going to eden with my friends, always brings me so much joy. And I know when I am a veteran and have got everything in the game, I will try to help as many people as I can.
Sky is basically just like our life, but it’s a virtual life in game(on devices)
I start playing from a friend recommendation and I became their partner right away, however slowly they got bored of it and slowly we begin to have fights for various reasons and eventually we broke up. It hurts like mad because things ended like this and I’m still very upset about it but I’ll most probably stop soon or later, my constellation are all 100% by now and new season is almost ending. Even TS is starting on Enchantment, I probably won’t last long either. The more I stay inside, the more I cried. So it’s really hurts to not actually know what impact sky had gave us. Not blaming sky it’s a beautiful game but, not on long run. Only to certain extent
Ive played since gratitude season, so I’ve been around for a while. I’ve done basically everything I want to do, gotten everything i strived for. I have a couple close friends, so that’s nice, but none of us are as active as we used to be.
The main reason I still play to help out new players. It’s fun running them around the different realms or helping them through eden. I know I would’ve loved it if a veteran player helped me my first go around.

This has been a weird and lonely year for me not only cuz of COVID but also cuz family problems have left me basically estranged. Sky was a beautiful safe space. I'm on the autistic spectrum and have difficulty making friends and making small talk, so the idea of a social game based on expressions really appealed to me. I experienced a lot of genuine awe, joy, and fear playing thru the first time. I was scared to go to Eden my first time, but a vet took me and the ending of the game literally made me cry.
I keep playing cuz it is still a fun, peaceful, safe place to me. I haven't made any deep relationships tho cuz it's hard to get to know people unless you have the table, or have candles to unlock chat. Besides, I'm reluctant to talk too openly with other players cuz while lots of them seem nice, I'm a member of an often-villified minority community so I'm scared that if I talk too much about myself people will show their prejudices and I'll just get hurt. Some of the best moments in Sky have come from connection with other people, but the more people there are the more anxious it makes me. Sometimes I just come to Sky to have quiet alone time, and then the other players annoy me. I think I'm also a little older than most of the players (I'm finishing college soon) so I feel isolated that way too.
I love the creativity of the game and how many hidden things there are to discover. I feel my time in Sky drawing to an end soon tho. I never do full candle runs, just collect my season candles and maybe do the valley race or something fun to get a few candles. I enjoy OOB hunting too and finding areas we aren't supposed to find. The new trials are way too stress-inducing to be fun for me.
Sky has been a wonderful escape for me, particularly when dealing with some intense emotional things. It's a beautiful game that has been important to me. I'll miss it when I quit because it's been a refuge, and I hope many more people will enjoy it and gain some peace from it after me. Like a good friend, we will inevitably part ways and be left with only memories.

I've been playing this game for a year now. And i feel like, the reason why people get bored is because they get too invested in candle runs that they forget to interact with new players and just RELAX. About 3 months in, after completing eden and doing candle runs, i felt bored as well since it felt like a mundane task. But then i realized that that's because I'm not sitting back and relaxing (which is what the game is about). Now, sometimes i just like going to places and simply listening to the calm music or interacting with new people. The seasonal quests are getting more interesting so that's also great!!! And if i feel bored, i don't play the game for sometime and then i come back to it so it feels brand new again. And like someone else said in the comments. YOU decide when the game is completed. For some it may be completing eden. For others, it may be completing the constellations. For some, it's not the completion that matters, it's the warmth the game provides.

I started playing in 2019 November, and it's been nearly a year. I am a solo player, and I enjoy this game very much. I sometimes try to ignore my friends and play the piano on my own. I do the candle run for at least 4 maps everyday even I have collected all the regular cosmetics months ago, and I still love this game a lot.
Yes you're right, there's definitely not enough new content, but the world of sky itself is an interesting story to investigate. The murals in all the maps, the trials in Prophecy cave, the canon and the lil ship in the office, the cute crabs which never crashes people in sanctuary, the pictures printed on the big ship in the Enchanted ark...even OOB areas are mysterious and they attracted me a lot. I practice different glitch techniques with chibi mask and tables, also with piggybacks and different emotes, and it was really fun!
Another really important point that sticks me to this game is the key concept of the whole game, it's about the deliverance of kindness and love, and also accepting ourselves.
Many years ago, ancestors died in the Storm, what we children of light do is to collect wing lights and give them to the spirits and save them, this is the deliverance of kindness and love. Hearts can be only gifted from friends, this is also another kind of delivery of kindness and love. When krilled in wasteland, your fire has gone out and need the other players to ignite you again, this is also the deliverance of kindness and love.
Light itself is representing kindness and love in this game, it makes us feel secured and warm. We are the children of light, we were born to be the light of some random strangers, we were born to ignite people who need help, we were born to deliver love and kindness, we were born with light.
The cosmetics also represents that the sky children find and discover who they are, and understand themselves more, nobody will be restricted by physical reasons. The hug with the shiny boy in Eden touches me a lot and I can't stop crying when I first went through Eden. Till now, I still cry when I listen to the credit song before we go back to the home space.
I think I won't stop playing sky until TGC closes the server. This game is absolutely amazing and is the best game in my heart!!!!
btw. OOB areas, chibi glitch, table glitch and bugs are definitely the most significant characteristics of this game XDDDDD

Ngl the second reason is why I rarely went online now. My friend thinks that Sky is different now. It doesn't have the magical feeling anymore. Honestly, I thought so too. But I was going to stay until she suddenly said that she's going to move on from this game. It was so sudden that I cried at that time.
We added each other on discord, but it's not going to be the same anymore.
And the fact that I first met her at the home space made me feel nostalgic all the time when I logged in to Sky. So I kinda went on a hiatus rn. I missed her, I missed our interactions with each other.
A HEART-BREAKING STORY. i had to delete the game in July. before i deleted the game i had a lot of friends and i was having a lot of fun. like we were chatting for hours even if we do nothing. when i reinstalled the game months later, i noticed that most of my friends weren't active. especially my bestie seemed to give up the game after i left. this made me very sad. i told him i'd come back but i must be late to go back. now playing sky doesn't give as much pleasure as before. i can understand why the old players gave up

The only reason Im still playing sky is because I want to complete all the constellations and learn songs on every instrument. After thats done Imma take a break, but Sky is honestly one of my favorite comfort games. Sometimes the simplicity and repetitivness really helps with my anxiety and bipolar. The game is just very relaxing.
I've finish all of the constellation after 5 months. A friend left me. I play solo. But i know that i would never leave sky 😂 Cuz what? First, Ive spent so much time and money in Sky. It's literally a waste if i quit xd. Second, i have weird mindset but my skykid is like myself. In which i adore the most and would never leave even if other would leave. Thank you for giving me more reasons to quit sky. I've been on and offline across a range of almost a year, tried unsuccessfully to quit many times. I've had urges to buy candles with real money and did do so. I'm aware of myself sinking deeper into the quicksand of the game, so I'm determined to quit. Glad that I am not alone on this matter.
The most hardest thing that I had to deal with after I quit sky was bidding farewell to all those friends I made on it , the moment I got past that it was not a problem, so just don’t let emotions get the better of you
I’m quitting bc I’m starting to realize tgc doesn’t care about us and only the money the prices of cosmetics are rising they raised 1 million dollars for the covid relief fundraiser imagine how much they make per season yet they only have 40 employees and constant bugs they even release beta bugs to live I met my best friend through sky and we’ve remained friends but we both feel very tired of how tgc has treated us and the grinding
Generally I use sky to chat and hang out with my long distance friends. We mostly just chill at home or somewhere chatting 😅 I'm extremely thankful for the friendships I've made and the community sky has.
I've been avoiding completing constellations so I don't feel that finality. I really wish they could add more things for older players. Switching things up more, varied quests, longer quests, more elder items, or special AC items.
I'm happy they added new kinds of game play in the new season.
I hope I'll be playing sky for a long time.
My friend plan to quit playing Sky because its all collecting candles, he is playing Genshin Impact now he recommended me playing Genshin Impact, its fun to play. I will keep playing sky to meet new people and new updates. I will miss him though bye bye good Sky friend
Honestly I sign in just to check if two of my friends are online. If they aren’t, I go offline. My best sky friends told me that if they hadn’t met me they would’ve quit sky completely because their friends were either too much drama or they were bored as heck. Tbh, sky get really boring at times. Farming is exhausting. But I still have this urge to play because I want to spend time with only 2 people out of my entire overloaded constellation. Ahahahah,, I love them with all my heart and that’s probably why I’m still in the game:>I fear for losing contact with those two beautiful people... if one day they leave, I’d quit.

As someone who started playing a bit before the Season of Enchantment started, I guess I'm sort of a "veteran," and yes, I do completely agree with the points you gave. I do believe that Sky's biggest flaw is being very repetitive, and it's been a problem for a while. Before the Season of Prophecy started, I did, of course, start to find it boring. The only thing that kept me playing was having really good friends that made the tiring candle runs so much more enjoyable.
But I have to say that the Season of Prophecy was a very unexpected improvement! The trials are really fun and are actually challenging, which gives me the hope that TGC is listening to our critics and is putting their effort into adding more interesting things to the game. I am hoping that Sky will continue to try their best into adding more to the game to make it all the better!
Other than that, even if the game can be boring with the candle runs and quests being the same, there's no other game I'd rather play more than Sky.
The friend one hit soo well.. especially when it's not they stop playing,but it's when they meet new people and we got abandoned 😌that make some emotional and want to stop playing 😌
As a veteran, I have to agree with repetetive = boring. But honestly, TGC is a small company and they can't just keep adding new content, they are only adding mini-areas beaucse Sky was based on the levels of life, which is why they can't add a complete new land.
It is really sad, honestly. I'm a 2019 player and my first sky friends all nearly never log in. I miss them, and I miss hanging out with them.
As someone who has played sky for almost three years, (Sky Light Awaits and Sky COTL) I've had to take breaks since at times there's almost nothing to do. But, I'm back :) A lot of my friends have also quit, or took a break as well, like Gigi's sky journey.
As a Sky player who’s been playing for 1 year now, this is all true. Especially the friends one.
I am truly aware and tried to be mindful of TGC being a small team so I can’t never blame them. My friends started getting busy or tired to play Sky, because of that, it loses it’s shine for me, I truly prefer playing Sky with friends
-also, despite playing the game for 1 years, I’m not done with the constellation rip XoX Traveling Spirit succeeded in taking my candles-
Either way, Sky is still a game I keep in my heart. Can’t bear the thought of deleting the game, I just can’t abandon my friends

It usually takes me a long time to trust but the friends I have are completely friendly and funny too, I don’t wanna abandon them.
I remember joining sky during season of gratitude, it was fun bcs of all the exploring and the maps were so nice. I would spend hours on it but ultimately I was alone and none of my friends played so I was always lonely and I ended up deleting sky. But I started playing again recently because a lot of friends started getting into it so now I finally have people to fly with
I literally have no friends in the game, my friends list is filled with moths who wasted a candle on me to try the hand holding feature. No one binds me to Sky, I am powerful yet lonely.
I actually dress up any way I want and role play around the realms as that character lmao, never gets old
sky is a beautiful game....i met very nice friends there and they all are very kind to me..but now it's getting boring to keep cr everyday..i just come online to chat but now even chatting is boring for me..idk why but i lose the happiness that i have when i first start playing this...still I can't leave the game bcs i love my friends so much 😭😭😭

I joined April 2020. I wouldn't say I'm a veteran player but for all the reasons above I'm now extremely inactive in Sky. I try to come back for TS spirits and new cosmetics since they prob won't come back until much later. After getting elder hair and the major cosmetics I want, it's been hard to get myself to get back into especially when Sky is so repetitive. And once you know all the tricks, gimmicks and layouts of the worlds, It's hard to get into candle running. Eden used to be extremely fun for me when I went with friends cause it was the one thrill out of the repetitiveness from the other worlds (mainly cause my friends loved to do fun things there, hide and seek, or just purposely losing wings). But now those friends are inactive, eden has joined the other worlds in their feeling of boredom
Honestly. As an old sky player. I didn’t quit for any of those reasons. I quit after a couple big updates to the game, like they changed the entire layout of things, and how to progress in the game. And most importantly of all. The controls. I have tried to go back into it because i loved to game, but the controls are so restricting. Before they were far more fluid and easy to use. But now it just doesn’t feel like that anymore. Now you have to click a button to fly up, or else you would just plummet down, like before it was just that you would fly if you were in the air no matter what, and just a flick of the finger, or starting to steer you could fly. It was so fluid and nice. I don’t know why they changed it, but i liked the way it was before so much better, because it was far easier to fly. So yeh i quit for a dumb reason.
I wouldn’t say that’s a dumb reason at all. Flying is an integral part of traversing the world. It’s like... idk trying to run with a rock in your shoe when there wasn’t one before.
I joined back in June of this year, but I’ve been poking around some older forums. It sounds like Sky really was an entirely different game. Apparently you could straight up outmaneuver the krill? And there was this one comment that stuck with me. “Flying was freedom”
i had never been a beta tester before global release, but ive been playing since august 2018 and i can definitely relate with these points. i haven’t quit sky (i honestly don’t think i will until there’s no more updates, and i doubt that’ll be any time soon), but there are some periods of burnout i get. i didn’t play sky for around three seasons in a row, but came back full force with enchantment, sanctuary, and prophecy. but there’s always moments where i get burnt out.
to solve this issue, i find oobs, help new players, candle run while listening to music i enjoy, work towards cosmetics, try to complete constellations, and get ultimate gifts if there’s a season. but i wish i could relive playing sky for the first time again, the nostalgia would be amazing.
I met a really beautiful girl in sky ( in real life she was wonderful, we were both 18) I remember playing with her a lot! But she quit playing this game or something and I still don't know why! I play this game now and I miss her! Her Facebook account is deleted and I can't find a way of finding her anymore :( I am alone again, ah man, and I really liked her, and yet for the last time, I was never able to say: I love you
I quit months ago, because it gets repetitive, but yet the creators did an amazing job making the game and massive respect to them
I wasn’t there at the very start, I think I started playing around 2018/2019, it hadn’t been that popular yet. The reason why I stopped is because of the fandom, the fandom was getting toxic and it was just consuming so much time. I would play Sky instead of doing homework, and the pressure to get every new item was just too high. I decided for my mental health, it’d be best if I deleted the game. I also got tired of being reborn every week and having to collect my wings again, plus the devs were being kind of rude to people as I heard.
The homework thing..I feel you and that is probably what will make me quit one day
Soham Ray prioritize yourself and your studies man, or at least limit yourself to a few hours a day to assure you can get everything done.

I'll agree with the candle run. I'm new player and I play solo. I collected every emotes but it's quite boring to collect wax every day. I haven't played for few days now. Now that new season starts I'll start collecting again.
As a old player, who was the first few that download it right after it was release, this is quite true. Not to mention back then, the stuff were different compare to now.
Or you could have broken your phone...and never got a chance to retrieve the data..
I first started playing in 2017, then stopped because I got bored and never really understood what I had to do. I had 2 other irl friends who played it too, but they weren’t active so it wasn’t fun. I came back to the game recently and it’s definitely a lot more fun. I regret not being there door past seasons though :(
Reaches a point where the only thing i do is find a nice place with nice view and just sit and do meditation emote for whole game

I'm not a veteran, in fact I only play for 1 and a half season, but this's my reason why I quit for good.
The daily grind is boring, and the reward from it is just cosmetics and emotes, which is really tiring to collect them all. You won't use all of them anyway, and some just looks pretty bland. Also the grind takes too much time even when your friend carries you around. Collecting candles is just a chore, it's basically just remembering where all the candles are. Looking at the same scenes everyday didn't help. They look cool at first, but when you visit them everyday knowing every hidden routes and secrets, it's not that special anymore.
Grinding candles aside, it's a social game. Some people can easily make new friends, but some people don't... well me, atleast. I got really awkward and panicky when random people approaching me. It's mentally taxing also to chat with new people for like half an hour doing nothing.
That's why I quit. I don't have too many friends on there (even most of them are irl friends), I don't have that much accs/emotes. I'm glad that some people like it because I can see why, it's just not the game for me.
this is the same for even somewhat new players, these are just reasons anyone might want to leave the game even if they like it
