My personal strategy with promoted listings is that I will promote it 30 days after it is listed that way I get the new listing bump in search without having to pay promoted listing on things that are already bumped up. I usually Promote at 1% and then every additional 30 days I will move it up one percent until it gets to the suggested amount
I usually promote top items that have a lot of competition at 1.2%. I saw The Professor's video on eBay promotion and stopped fearing an high increase and one that wouldn't be under my control. I'm going to go back and do the 2%. I agree that this is the best way to increase sales, especially for a new seller like me.

This issue eBay is having now is more complex on the surface I think. Ever since eBay moved to this new system, "Views" are down huge! I usually get 10 to 15 views per day for my items, right now, I have an item I listed a week ago that should be a hot viewer and it only has 6 views, that's over the course of an entire week. I have a hunch that eBay has done this to force sellers to promote their items. I only promote certain things, but I'm going to start promoting everything at a low percentage and see where it goes from there. But my fall in sales actually started this (June) Month. I'm not worried I know it'll kick back up, I just want transparency from eBay if they did something on the back end that they're not telling sellers about. Great video.
@@xGlobs That's your opinion, but it's a good barometer to know what consumers are actually looking at. If I'm selling something and 50 people view the item and I posted another items as the same time which only has 5 views, I know in my brain what's hot and what's not.
@@starchild692 Sales have picked up significantly for me since I started promoting my items, so it still goes back to my original point. Overall views are definitely still down but now I'm getting people that are more geared towards the items I'm buying so that's OK.
Excellent video so true too, no matter what I list 8-10 new items a day, send offers all thru the day & tinker with promotion rates, it def pays off. Sales improving each month.
Late comment but a fantastic trick to level up sales: Promote all listings to 5-10% and leave it for a week or 2. Then drop back down to the preferred 2%. You will have a huge spike in sales and then eBay Cassini algorithm will want to maintain your store sales at the higher level basically boosting your store. Though you have to have to have to remain consistent
UK seller of Homemade candles and wax melts , promotion didn’t work for me i was selling without promo for few years , i promote everything at 5% 700 items and basically just testing it,Uk sales drop since Feb 90% drop. , Sales dived for me 2 days ago,with an account at 0% issues or defects , could be just a quite few days , i list 35 per day every day for 3 years its soooo crucial to list daily it forces sales
now the min promoted at least 2% .I usually follow the suggested promoted percentage,this is huge money I know,but at first I need the huge the traffic and impression,when I get enough impressions,I will decrease the promoted percentage

It is still not clear why if you are not consisting your sells will go down. I'm not taking about the proportional logic, more listing more sells, it sounds if you don't list items often ebay will hide your listing?. Can you please explain?
Not just on ebay, on any sight I skip promoted items for many reasons. That top 2are its a unfair practice, and promoted items are usaly much more expensive. This may just be me, but it what I do
I think your sales would increase by more than 2 percent if you did promote, but the nice thing is… you have the right to do it whatever way you want 👍
Hit edit promoted listing change it to 1.1% then hit the back button and start promoting the item. But with it changing to 2% you would have to do that instead
There's a few different things we personally do to keep a high sell-through rate. *One* of the things we consider is how long an item has been sitting in our store unsold when we end-sell similar. There can be a lot to consider depending on the size of your store, how quick-moving your items are, and more. It's a good conversation for sure, consider hopping in the Discord!
Hi. I’m a small, new seller. What happens if I try “promoted listings” for 30 - 60 days, but I don’t see much of a difference in sales? Can I end promoted listings or is it once you promote, you can’t “un-promote”? And, if I do stop the promotion, is there an established grace period where eBay will still get a cut if the item sells even if it isn’t being promoted any longer? Thanks!

Hello guys ,now chase said he promotes your items at just over 1% ,in the uk on the 11th july (i think) the minimum you can promote an item is being increased to 2% and it is said this is a trial and will be moved to other sites very soon so you may have to watch out for that . ebay uk is dead every ones sales down well over 50% its due to no one having any money to spend because of energy price rises ,and when i say price rises i mean big price rise ,everything is going through the roof people working are going to food banks , some people who go to the food banks wont take potatoes because they cost to much to cook , petrol prices are through the roof hence all food items are going up, we have another bigger rise in energy prices in the autumn which will probably be the end of a lot of sellers over here
Quit watching the video when you said your % is slow compare to last month sales. The proper way to know your sales are down or low is comparing your sales from last years same month.
I believe eBay is upping their min promoted listings to 2% if I read the email properly, think it was coming in July. And basically anything under 2% wont get boost. Which if they still charge you 1.1% without the traction would be pain not sure how that will work. Then trying to get all my currently promoted 1.1 moved to 2.0.
Anything under 2% will stop being promoted . Since you’re only charged the promoted listings fee if the buyer clicked on your listing after seeing it as a promoted listing anything under 2% will not be getting promoted and therefore you should never be getting charged the fee

Has to do with how eBay likes activity. There can be a lot to it, but it's a topic we often cover over in the Discord.

I just tried something crazy , chose eBay donation percentage at 10 and my promoted percentage at 10.7 …. We’ll see if I sell my monster card or not…

You can promote them or unpromote them whenever you want
