Wow you gave me a basket full of great ideas! Your mother seems like a very special mom, how sweet that was giving you all the aprons so you would have a bunch to start out married life with.

Some time ago now, I went from the concept of purchasing pot holders and hot pads to go with a particular, informal table cloth to a sticker shock decision to sew something. Then I went from the sticker shock of cotton batting to the thrift store for a 100% cotton bath sheet - towel and haven't looked back since for many of my batting type needs. Back in those 1960's and 1970's, people used Terry cloth toweling either new or dug up used from the linen closet for all sorts of things batting related. Terry cloth toweling enables all sorts of things to be cost effective to make from the home sewing machine. If you have concerns about yard sale or thrift store towels, bleach or elsewise sanitize them without concerns about bleach stains 'cause they will be concealed in a sandwich.

That’s a great tip! I use thrifted linens for lots of sewing projects, but hadn’t thought of towels.

Love the seasonal apron idea! I am going to o start collecting seasonal fabrics and make a few aprons in batches so I have gifts for people who are getting married…what a great idea. And I ca use these between other projects as a palette cleanser

Yes! Mom always gave an apron with a good cookbook and baking sheets as wedding shower gifts 💕.

It’s in the high 70’s in western Washington, no rain in months and months, broke all weather related records. Honestly I want rain so bad, my gardens looks terrible, had to cut watering way down because of the bills going up. I am not in the fall mood for sewing, in fact the house is too warm. We have AC but no need for it this time of year, a t shirt or tank suffices. The nights are fall nights though, chilly.
If we had our regular fall weather this time of year, I would be sewing.
No rain and cooler weather is forecasted until maybe a BIG maybe at the end of October.

Oh no!! I know the west is having unusually long summers this year! Hope yours turns around soon!
