Hokokatori shrine

The enshrined deity is Amaterasu okami at Hokononiya and the enshrined deity at Katorimiya is Tsunetsunushi omikami . According to the history, Hokonomiya is a shrine that was founded during Daido era (807) . Amaterasu no okami was enshrined at Muramatsu daijingu shrine in Tokai-mura . Tsunetsunushi no okami was enshrined from Katori shrine.
But by the order of Tokugawa Mitsukuni, both shrines were enshrined and become the current Hokokatori Shrine.
2001 the main shrine restored and in 1982 the worship hall was rebuilt.
