I picked up that version of Merchant of Venus when it first came out, but I never had much interest in the Fantasy Flight reworked rules. I have always played with the "classic" rules, and had a really great time with it.
I predict that our experience will be similar. Fantasy Flight likes to add a bunch of small thematic touches like unique leaders and such. They add to the world, but also add to the rules overhead. Thanks for adding your vote for the classic!
The video sound is good. I don't know anything about any of those games, but the Stronghold custom piece find was neat to see. I put a lot of time into making custom Spirit Island pieces to celebrate my joy in that game, and the thought of losing, selling, or giving them away makes me sad. My wife and I have played two games of Castles of Burgundy (after watching your review, and with the pink pieces you sent!) and we enjoy it. She won one, and I won one. More to come.
Thanks for the input! Now I just need to figure out lighting, lol. Making your own "deluxe" version of your favourite games is part of the fun! We're glad to hear you're making good use of the pink pieces. Have you tried Carpe Diem? If you've seen our review of it, you know we both think it scratches the Burgundy itch in a different, yet satisfying way.
Good job Norm!

@@shelfcontrolgames I'll check out the review. I see your ploy, though: pretty soon, I'll end up with shelves as full as yours are!
