      They are fantastic! The main differences are the wood type of the neck, It’s a bolt on neck, and there’s no preamp (I believe) in it. So it probably won’t have a Spector classic growl, as much… but it’s a GREAT bass!

    We have the same taste in basses, I also have a Zon Sonus and a 30th Anniversary Stingray.
    ... and I'm currently looking at Spectors. I'm leaning towards an LX with Barts and the Darkglass Tone Capsule, but it's good to know that the EMGs with the Tonepump aren't bad either.

      That is awesome!! I definitely prefer the new ones that have the Bartolini’s and Darkglass. They are PERFECTION. They have a perfect recording signal and sound amazing! I have the Euro LT 35 scale BEAD and the Euro LT 4 string. Both with PJ configuration.

      It depends on where the serial number is placed basically but that still doesn’t tell you the scale. I would say unless you specifically ordered a 35 scale, it’s most likely a 34 scale. I special order 35 scale basses.

It Doesn't have trim pot on the Tone Pump Jr. I had to basically lower my pickups to around 5-6mm and dial the volume knobs to no more than 3'oclock, set Bass Boost Knob to 9-10 o'clock and treble to 12-1 o'clock (if your looking down at your bass from your POV).

    What about tonepump jr. ?

    • @NickiTedesco
      @NickiTedesco  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried one, but I believe the concept is the same. I think these were used in other models of the Spector. I'm only familiar with the "regular" tone pump, and NOW I have the new Euro LT spector which uses darkglass electronics and I'm really enjoying that. I think they are really for different applications. The tone pump is just to kill it live on stage and the LT sounds great LIVE and has a better signal for recording. Are you finding a used on that has that? Is that why you're checking it out?

      Thanks, I never thought a "plain" white bass would be so pretty in person. No, actually I haven't heard your covers, but will have to check them out! I'd make them more, but my downstairs neighbor has been home with that goofy flu. Anyway, Mike's tone is some of the best ever. His singled-out master tracks on YT are sick as hell. I read AIC's bio recently, and found out that Evan Sheeley, of whom used to run Bass NW (now sadly defunct), was friends with the band. He was solely responsible for Mike's tone on Facelift and Dirt (and the Sap EP). I later contacted him on FB, talked to him about the gear, and he's a good dude...seems like a guy that could talk gear all day.
      Mike Inez also has simple, crushing tone as well. "Stone" is ridiculous, even if involves distortion (as opposed to clean).

      :-) I've owned half a dozen or so P basses over the years including several Hot Rods. However, i did switch them all to an active set up as the passive dull thud made my eyes bleed! I am currently fitting a couple of EMG TBDC's and Tonepump to a Gibson T-bird then tune it BEAD, if that doesn't perk it up a bit i'll encase it in concrete and drop it over the rim of Mount Etna. Love the vids...keep up the great work...TTFN. :-)

      omg, you are so freakin funny! Everytime I read your comments...at one point, I start laughing and losing my shit. lol. But what you are doing with the Gibson sounds like a killer idea! To me, a lot of basses have that "Thud", and that's why Spectors are my heart. The first time I played one, I was like: THIS is the tone I have been searching for since I started playing! Thanks for the input, I truly appreciate the interaction and feedback!

      Lol..cheers Nicki, i love the dirt and grind that comes out of a Spector, especially when digging in, mind you, if i do it too much my hand cramps up and it feels like my arm has been amputated at the ear!! It must be 10 years now since i started out using them and i like you it was that twang and thud that got me hooked, amazing bit of kit. I think i wet myself when i first hooked one up with a Darkglass!!
      Really looking forward to getting the T-Bird up and running, just to see if i can cure it of that passive pokey tone, makes me wanna' chew my own leg off! As for the neck i think i have handled thicker dental floss, i'll post a vid if it's a success....if not i'll be mixing some concrete!! Laters potatoes.
