Giant Wheel because if you look at the helicopter shots...the outside of the corner has a Ferris wheel which is called a Giant Wheel in India. Cinema Chicane, because that building you see there is a mall with an IMAX movie theatre. Machan tree is a fun tree house thing at the NTR gardens that outlines that area of the Circuit. Passport because there is a passport office next to that area. The Hairpin is again called Lumbini Park because the same park is to the left of it. The corners have names because it is an actual street where traffic goes. I hope this made sense.
Formula E is dying, deal with it - the shift to permanent tracks in some rounds is one, poor spectator attendance in some of those is another plus the novelty has overstayed its welcome - any series that use spec formula are doomed to failure because in motorsport, the car is always the stars and most of these guys are virtually nobodies
The state government that was governing the state when the race was first hosted, renewed the deal for the E-Prix in 2024. However, by the end of 2023 that government was voted out in the election. The new government just said we don't know anything about what the previous government did, let's think about the project and then breached the contract. Formula E is looking to return probably in a different city. Most probably Chennai. There's a new street circuit being built there capable to host night races. It will probably host an F4 India round first this year before submitting a bid for Formula E
I wonder if that track would have enough braking, it'd be Formula E's Monza compared to the rest of the tracks on the calendar, but with, a much higher difficulty than Monza itself.
Here's the thing about the R246 It's on a public road, and a busy one at that. It directly feeds traffic to and from the famous Shutoko metropolitan expressway. Holding a race where they have to close such road even for just one day is frowned upon by the Japanese police, which is why you don't see any street races on actual public roads being held in Japan, even for the local ones.
Reason for the IRL cancellation due to 'technical' issues was to do with the chassis, it's a spec series. There was a fundamental issue with the brakes.
The track has changed since last year. Satellite imagery shows the hairpin no longer exists and they’ve changed the layout by building a straight dual carriageway around there. Any future racing would need to use a different layout. The Indian League Event was cancelled because a branch fell onto the circuit and was hit by a car resulting in the driver being hurt. They didn’t show any replays or footage of it, and it’s not mentioned on their official sites, but some googling shows it did happen and they tried to keep it hush. I think they were worried the track would loose its FIA grade and they’d have lost the eprix. As for the future, it all looks a bit political :( Drivers weren’t happy with it because the nearest toilets meant they had to walk into a nearby shopping centre, which is poor - even national club circuits have toilets, but this was inconvenient as you had hundreds of people working in the paddock trying to use the same toilets.
I live in Hyderabad, there's been no change to the roads that made up the circuit. There's a flyover that goes over the hairpin, maybe that's the thing you see?
I don’t think that’s technically defunct, SuperTC2000 (the Argentinian touring car series that Augustin Canapino and José María López got their start in) races every year still I believe
It is an amazing track though. I wish it got more international attention. Stephan Ratel (CEO of SRO) said that if the Intercontinental GT Challenge ever expands to South America, Portrero de los Funes would be his first choice.
@@psychlops924 Sadly,Potrero De Los Funes was officially closed after the 2018 season and this year they started with the demolition, with the fences being moved to other tracks and the local industrial area.
Here are my suggestions for future videos in your failed street circuits series (it's a great series): Vancouver (CART) Brooklyn, New York (Formula E) Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (Formula 1 and CART) Meadowlands Grand Prix (CART) Burke Lakefront Airport (CART/Champ Car) Edmonton City Centre Airport (Champ Car/IndyCar) Beijing Street Circuit (A1GP) The "Grand Prix" version of the Adelaide Street Circuit (Formula 1 and ALMS) That's it. Again, good job on this series.
I just found a street track that i never knew and it was actual host IMSA for the Columbus 500 located in Columbus Ohio it only hosted three races from 1985-88
Tuned in for about a minute of Free Practice 2, Ill never watch this thing. Cant put into words how annoying these cars sounds. Not only that, I have loads of issues with the series, but I just wont bother going through them. Still these videos are very entertaining, keep up the good work mate👍
Maybe the costs for construction of the circuit are usual, but the Wiki article gives the amount in Rupees as 1.4 Billion 👀👀 It just feels unfathomable how all this costed like a billion rupees

Formula E going to keep this series alive for years to come.
formula e is such a fucking meme lmao biggest carnival in motorsports

Doubt it.
7:00 IIRC a massive tree branch fell onto the track during one of the sessions
Sidenote, all Gran Turismo fans might currently be malding that the Tokyo ePrix is not held on R246

I designed the track and I had no idea the corners had names (but very happy to hear it!). 'Passport' cracked me up!
I don't follow Formula E, but that Yamaha Lola paint scheme looks sharp
"not straight straight" kills me everytime
What a coincidence because I was watching Formula E highlights from the track. Seemed like a absolute crazy track to drive on

Moto Racing in India and not going back, name a more iconic duo.
Another suggestion for the future is the 2010s Indycar Sao Paulo circut
A good addition to the Miami circuits is bicentennial park used in the 80’s. There was also a similar layout to bayfront park in the early 80’s
hey,can you give an eye to the Argentinian street track in the GT1 championship in 2010,Circuito Portero de los funes

hope it comes back
T1 chicane - it was put in to help re-gen. The usual version of the circuit doesn't use it.
2 videos in 2 days, we have been spoilt. That final chicane reminds me of le Combe & malmedy at spa.
Why is there grid boxed next to the pit straight when thry were never used?

Oh the track was absolutely in a place where there was lots of traffic.
please do the Marrakesh track from the 2009 - 2010WTCC seasons
FE didn't continue in India because it was operationally a disaster, with missed payments and deadlines all around.
Formula E is a completely normal racing series with totally respectable tracks, cars and drivers.
...nope, can't keep a straight face writing that.
4:58 why would you put grandstands behind trees? 🤔
This track would have been good without that awful T1 chicane. That took away the Eau Rouge of Formula E corners.
