I wish I still had mine. Way back in the late 90s I had that exact Slime and a Jackson Kelly that I had to sell to be able to buy my kids something for Christmas. I had lost my job and had no money. I really miss it. Later on when Dime went to Dean I saw that his Dime O Flame was going to be available. I preordered it that day, but after receiving it I was disappointed. The fretboard would cut my fingers open and it never performed anything like my Washburn. Thanks for sharing your video, it brought back great memories of the one that got away.

Thanks man, i appreciate that. Yea, the dean guitars are really pretty much garbage. I remember seeing the dime flame and noticing how cheap it looked and how the print was super pixilated. Really low quality. That's why I never bought one. In all truth the washburns aren't the best quality either, but they're okay. I don't really like the way it plays or sounds but as for a conversation starter it's kinda nice to have.

Killer guitar, and dope shirt. I remember hearing Unto the Locust shortly after it came out when I was 16. Picked up the deluxe edition, and the acoustic performance of Darkness Within is one of my faves to this day.
I'd love to get a dime guitar some day!

Thanks, I appreciate that. Yea unto the locust is a sick album. I didn't appreciate it at first but slowly it grew on me and now years later I think it's a massive album. Major credit to the songwriting on that album for sure. I am hell is a rager everytime. As far as the dime guitar goes its okay, but nothing too special. I don't think it sounds anywhere as killer as my jacksons or my solar for that matter. For the price that ppl are asking for these guitars nowadays I'd say save your money. You can buy something much better for a much lower price. But its still a nice looking guitar.

I have one of these as well. I’m I the UK bought it for £549 new in early 2000’s.
mine is also Korean but with the natural gloss wood on the back of the body and the neck. Mine has the slime finish on the headstock. I changed the pickups to a real Bill Lawrence L500XL and a zebra 59 in the neck and it is an absolute beast. Mine has the Buzz Feiten tuning system logo on the back of the headstock and its great. You can dive bomb squeal all over and the tuning stays rock solid. It’s great to see a few variations. My friend had a 333 dimebolt but that was made in China and the quality difference is huge compared to the Korean ones. I’d love to try one of the Americans. I guess we got good ones. Cheers. She's real pretty, I've just bought a korean washburn 333 dimebolt that was signed by Vinnie Paul and now I have slight buyers remorse after hearing how much you got your one for. Although I also have a dean ml dime signature and a chinese knock-off washburn D3, I got both from a friend for litteraly nothing (helped him move house and he didn't have space for them) so I don't feel too bad, the knock-off looks good and it's made out of the right materials but the quality of it sucks, more of a wall hanger. The deans a little rough but after a bit of work, it sounds ok and plays kinda alright although overall I've found it a bit underwhelming, not sure where it was made, I've heard korean deans are significantly superior to the chinese ones, which makes me think mines from china.
For me, the washburn is 'the' dime guitar to have, I wish that washburn had kept their rights to produce dimebag's guitars instead of it going over to dean after his death, the 'dean from hell' signature they make has made in china on the back of the headstock and the ones I've played all felt way too cheap and nasty for a £650 ($899) guitar. I noticed in one of the comments you said your's is a '99, according to washburns website it should have a 24" 3/4 scale length, an alder body and mahogany neck, earlier ones where maple, and the trem is a washburn 600S, and I'm pretty sure yours is korean. The oldest chinese 333's I've seen were 2001, the early ones were all korean and I think they moved production of the 333 back to korea in either 2004 or 2005, who knows, either way it's a sick guitar and definately a keeper.

I own the usa custom shop dean dime slime ml version it's a 2020 model last one that was online and it's just as good or better than the old washburn usa custom shops which this video shows the made in china version i believe possibly Indonesia but I dont think so which still is ok but once u play a usa version the necks are completely different in the way they feel and kinda spoils my high end imports even with the same hardware and stuff so ppl totally sleep on the dean custom shop guitars so right now is the best time to get one even my custom shop production model dime slime ml the only one u can buy without waiting for backorder for months theres one in Japan for over 6 grand double what they are new and I'm waiting on a backorder for the 1 out of 100 dean usa custom shop far beyond driven ml which is same as my slime but with different pickups and color. Plus if u watch any videos of the dean dime usa guitars their quality control is one of the best on the market when it comes to usa guitars for sure the wiring speaks for itself u cant even see the wires every single detail and nook and cranny has been looked over and made sure that if u take it apart u see the best quality under the pickups are slimed as well and both of mine have the 5a flamed top and they have the top mount floyd rose original with a 3 degree neck pitch angle so that the top mount doesn't need to be recessed in order to pull back like a recessed floyd can because the guitars are built like hardtails that have a floyd on them because the original Dean's never had Floyd's and hardtail guitars have a 3 degree pitch in the neck angle so if u put a floyd on the floyd will be mounted much higher off the body in order to have the action perfect but also it allows to pull back just as much as any recessed floyd and my fbd is within ounces of the real guitars weight it's crazy the detail the dean luthiers go to and these guys some of them were there making guitars actually for dime before he passed and to have 2 guitars built to dimes exact specs from the guys in the Tampa custom shop who helped build dimes original Dean's with damageplan theres some real details which make the Dean's superior from the washburns in my opinion and also in dimes opinion he left washburn quicker than can be the second he got word dean was reopening. Ill always give the washburn the win with looks I love the tweaking dime did to the ml to differentiate from the original but the Bottom line is just try a usa dean u can get more than 2 usas for the price of one used washburn dime and look at the used prices of dean custom shop dime guitars they're doing the same thing the washburn guitars are when posted used in good condition cuz ppl are gettin hip to the fact the reason nobody ever sees usa Dean's on guitar center shelfs is because they're sold before they can make it to the shelf and the original owner rarely sells because they're really the best guitar I've ever played the neck is so unique and comfortable you realize right away why he played this shape and only this shape because once u get used to it most other guitars feel like toys almost.

Not to disagree with you but I've put my hands on more than a few deans, usa made and some not and I wasn't that impressed. Just bc one person likes a certain brand doesnt necessarily mean they are that much better. We all have specific tastes and certain things we look for and like in guitars, thats why there are so many different types of guitars out there on the market. I don't even have any desire to purchase any dean dime models. I'm happy just having my washburn as a collectors piece, and I'm good with just having this one. I don't even so much like playing on the ml bodystyle. I'm a flying vee guy thru and thru. But I appreciate the story about your guitar, its awesome you snagged that while you could. Enjoy it.
