      Very nice one Nick
      How do you go about the ratio when you switch from 2 to 4 blades ? Since this probably had 560 in it ? Did you put 520?
      Do you mind sharing the retract model, I have the same kit and the retract that came with it aren’t super sturdy

      @@VTOL1973the retracts are Eflite EFLG100 but they required extensive modifications. I even had to take a dremel tomthe body of them together them to fit and remove a bunch of plastic. So I don’t recommend them. As to the gear ratio…. I was already geared for low headspeed on the 550 so I left it alone. But yes…. You definitely don’t need a lot of headspeed on a 4 blade setup.

      Thanks Nick for the insights on the Eflite !
      Sorry I meant to ask about blades length when you add more blades do you put shorter blades and is there a ratio like 2 to 4 blades is 20% less length etc etc ?

      @@VTOL1973no reason you couldn’t run 520s but you can also just run less headspeed as well which looks and sounds a it more scale. But for the best info on scale helicopters the guys on the facebook group Building Scale Helicopters are very helpful and have far more experience than me. They were a big help on this project.

    Can you please share your throttle and pitch curves for Normal and idle up settings?

    • @NickWisdomRC
      @NickWisdomRC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually don’t use a normal mode. In fact on this helicopter I only use one bank or flight mode. The esc handles the slow spoolup for me. It’s a flat throttle curve around 60%. Pitch curve wise I’m running around 12 degrees of pitch positive and negative on a straight linear curve. Which is not typical for a scale bird, but I fly primarily 3D helis and I wanted it to feel similar to the rest of my helis even though I’ll never need all that negative pitch.

    why not put the tail rotor on the left side for scale accuracy ?

    • @NickWisdomRC
      @NickWisdomRC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly because this is a “sport scale” model. An entry level try at a scale model with an existing 550 size airframe I had on hand where that would not have been possible without major modifications. My next scale model I’ll go for higher accuracy and more detail. But this was just a fun crack at my first scale model for lazy flights at the end of the day.

    That came out great, looks very sharp. I’ve been in the hobby for years and I’ve always supported helidirect!
    Do you have any insight on building the A109 700 class with a trex 600pro? I know it calls for 700 mechanics but I figured it would give me more room for a scale cockpit! As long as I have a large motor and esc, it should swing 700 blades! And of course I would need a longer torque tube!

      Hi Scott. That’s pretty common in the scale world to stretch a 600 for cockpit space. So no reason it shouldn’t work. Hope it comes out great!
