Beautiful route! When I had first started watching the video I was thinking that this was in southern Colorado. I'm a Colorado native, born in Rifle. I'm familiar with the western slope, the rockies, and the eastern slope, but not the south. I'll have to add this area to my list of rides. Like Utah, where I call home, Colorado has some beautiful landscapes. I too have heard the legends of lost gold, but many legends also warn of curses. Many have tracked down some locations and had left the area because of that hair-raising feeling that something "very uncomfortable" was present. We have those legends in the Uintahs of Utah as well. Thanks for the video!
It’s a loop around the Spanish Peaks in Southern Colorado about 1/2 North of Trinidad. The towns of Aguilar, Cuchara, La Veta, and Walsenburg are along the route.
The scenery is spectacular and the music was good. Unfortunately, a poor script dooms this video to mediocrity. Too much jumping around; sometimes on a road and sometimes footage shot from a drone. It's hard to determine what exactly is being shown and the location. While the scenery is nice, the video doesn't satisfy its stated intent to show the scenic byway. No views of old mines and the small towns along the way. No reference to the old Cuchara downhill ski area. Mentioning the geology is good. But one explanation of the dikes should have been sufficient. Better luck next time.
SORRY TO SAY, BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH BETTER VIEWING EXPERIENCE WITH SOME BETTER PHOTOGRAPHIC SKILLS. ACTUALLY, I THREW UP TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES. DAMN!!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHOW THE FOREGROUND MOVING BY SO QUICKLY TO ACCOMPLISH UR GOAL. BETTER YET, GET OUT A TRIPOD AND DO A SLOW....SLOW PANORAMIC SHOT WOULD BE MORE PROFESSIONAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPEED OF THIS VIDEO IS MISSING THE ENTIRE POINT OF TAKING IN THE NATURAL BEAUTY....YOU MISSED ALL OF IT. HAD TO STOP AT 3 MINUTES.
Gorgeous!
Awesome video!
Thank you for filming this video and sharing it. I also appreciate that you have included so many of the legends surrounding the area.
Taken many Elk & Deer by the Spanish peaks. Great place for recreational endeavors near La Veta.
Used to live in Trinidad. Highway 12 is awesome. Just remember to take warm clothes because weather changes quickly. Well done on the video.
Very nice
We recently were in this area. Your drone footage did an amazing job!

At 6:53 the dike shown is the Dakota Wall, a dike that runs from Canada all the way through the US and into Mexico.
Where is this?

Nice, but I’ve seen highways that were much more pretty in Colorado!
