I love the Category breakdowns. I would like to see all ryes including DO’s & toasted together unless wine/spirit etc finished. Same for bourbons too. Spectacular rye list, I prefer list that literally have the best of the year period. I hate list that omit allocated and single barrels. Phenomenal job sir 🥃
This is wild, I'm 99% sure I followed you back when I was in college for coffee content. Almost a decade later, here I am with a video of yours in my TH-cam feed for whiskey! And the deathcore style hat? I think we are the same. Cheers Brian! Subbed!
Great list I’m a big fan of Nashville barrel also a River Roots fan I live just across town from them and I have yet to have a disappointing bottle. 🥃🥃🥃
Love that MWS Dark Pumpernickel rye (cask strength) and also the Michter’s 10 year rye too! My top ryes list would also include Redwood Empire Needle Haystack 8 year old single barrel rye - super good!
I know this might be more work, but I would personally love to see where the finished ryes would fit in to the list if they were considered. I understand if that’s not doable, but I just like to know where say the pursuit double oak rye would fit in your list. Thank you so much for the content.
Appreciate you chiming in! I will say, we did have the Raconteur Rye at our rye blind (but not in the mix). It had a great flavor that my friend Nick commented SHOULD have been in the running, but I think it may have landed middle high of the pack. Pursuit however, that one could have made some moves. It doesn't have the age of some of the ones that came in at the top, but I could easily see it being in the top 3 somewhere.
@@abandonbourbon Thank you for the reply and the content! That makes sense! The way I look at it I just like to know what, if I could only pick one, I should buy. In theory, if say the Nashville barrel or the pursuit were sitting on the “shelf” what should I buy. That’s the reasoning for wanting the additional ranking. And I know there’s alot of nuance to that based on mood, taste preference, and price, but in theory if the list was together I would know where they rank in your mind if that makes sense. But I appreciate the effort!
I did! I thought the OKI ryes we did were good, but they fell behind the Brook Hills and Nashvilles we tried this year. Definitely in that same flavor range though, maybe a bit more sugar and balance. I just didn't put one in the blind because of the other bottles.
Sorry about that - You should be able to see any pertinent information at 5:55 or 6:08. they only make one Still Austin Bottled in Bond Rye so hopefully that helps you if you search.
Sorry it didn't resonate with you. As with most of my lists, if there is a single barrel and I thought it was a good representation for a spirit category, the hope is always to highlight that so folks can be on the lookout. From the Rare Character TKO ryes I've had, they will have similar profiles regardless of pick. Same with Rossville, and Premier Drams, and NBC.
@@abandonbourbon I think it is helpful because it gives me an idea on the potential quality of a future single barrel so I'm not purchasing just on tasting notes from the seller
@ Totally understand. I may not be the most helpful in several of my top lists for you then, I don’t exclude single barrels in a bunch of lists. That said, I do have a few coming up that I think may be a bit less single barrel dependent.

Nice list! My favorite for 2024 has been Michters BS Rye
Same

You would be correct! Thanks for coming back!
OKI 11 year Rye Seelbach Pick was absolutely killer! Most likely my favorite Rye of 2024, close second was a TKO Rare Character a friend of mine had.
Fantastic List!!! My year was more River Roots heavy, but NBC and RC are also releasing amazing stuff.
All three really are
Cheers it has been the year of the rye for 2024 so many good bottles released. My list is out tomorrow
Cheers Bill! Loved your bourbon list.
Great list I’m a big fan of Nashville barrel also a River Roots fan I live just across town from them and I have yet to have a disappointing bottle. 🥃🥃🥃
Heck yeah! Thanks for tuning in!
Love the way your currently grouping the categories
Thank you!
Great list…fortunate to grab this bottle back in the Spring when we were in Nashville visiting Vandy with my daughter. Awesome pour!
Thanks for tuning in!
Please, for the love of God, show a shot of the label that we can pause and read. I can't tell what any of these bottles are
Appreciate the feedback - I'll work on that for the videos not already recorded, but the bottles are highlighted on their own title screen.
Enjoyed the vid! Did you get to try the Pride of Anderson County release?
I got a nip of it at release but that was all
M10r was probably my favorite this year.
Premier Drams was a surprise in this list, I'll try to check it out.
They are definitely a bit pricey, but really juicy rye profile. M10r was such a surprise on this list for me.
Liked the list, but was guessing Michter's Barrel Strength Rye would have been in there somewhere... Was it part of the blind?
Did not try that one this year.
Love that MWS Dark Pumpernickel rye (cask strength) and also the Michter’s 10 year rye too!
My top ryes list would also include Redwood Empire Needle Haystack 8 year old single barrel rye - super good!
I still have very limited time with Redwood Empire, I need to try and give them a go.
NBC REPRESENT 😎
love those Rare Character TKOs
So fun, I need to explore more of them. Have you had one you've enjoyed more than others?
@@abandonbourbonI have 7 different TKOs and they’re really fun. Whoryno’s is good, but I think t8ke’s or Crest’s picks are my favorite
@ I really wished I got that t8ke barrel
Surprise not to see one of the 11-year OKI Ryes that seelbach picked last. Both expressions were some of the be
st ryes I have had in a long time.
Those are great ryes for sure, I just didn't put any in the blinds due to the other 3 that were in.

@ pursuit United double Oaked rye should rarely leave someone unhappy - and at a solid price!
Curious if you tasted the Seelbachs OKI 11 year rye?
I did! I thought the OKI ryes we did were good, but they fell behind the Brook Hills and Nashvilles we tried this year. Definitely in that same flavor range though, maybe a bit more sugar and balance. I just didn't put one in the blind because of the other bottles.
Didn't even show the Still Austin BiB rye labelbf9r a split second and it had text all over it.
Sorry about that - You should be able to see any pertinent information at 5:55 or 6:08. they only make one Still Austin Bottled in Bond Rye so hopefully that helps you if you search.
What batch was the Frank August case study 03?? I have 7/9 and it just didn’t hold up to other rye this year for me
Maybe , show the label to the screen
Not toward your face I guess
Would be much better if you do that
Appreciate the feedback.
reviewing a bunch of barrel pics that no one can get is not terribly helpful.
