Ronaldo right on it. ETH style requires a team that doesn’t make any mistakes, every pass is perfect and everyone plays at a high intensity. At times we can do that (FA cup final) but the team is not fully equipped to play to this standard and if we fall short and all of these we get hammered! It’s down to the whole football department to decide if we need to play more conservatively papering over the cracks but might get top 4. Or continue to attempt to play a high standard that could challenge but could also end in tears.

Ok, so dont compare united to spurs, compare them to villa.
Emery joined villa 6 months after ten hag joined united and villa were hovering above the relegation zone. He started with a much worse squad and spent less money. So please explain how he was able to take them into europe within 4 months, then followed it up with a top 4 finish and champions league the following season. They play exciting, attacking and effective football with a distinctive style.
Meanwhile, we slipped from 3rd to 8th, finished with a negative goal difference, worse ever champions league campaign. You said ten hag inherited a terrible squad, but ole managed 2 top 3 finishes with them.

For me it's a horrible cocktail of problems:
    1. A lack of flexibility and pragmatism from Ten Hag.
If pushing our full backs incredibly high isn't generating goals, but IS leaving our CMs and CBs constantly vulnerable, then why does ETH persist with it?
It's high risk for very little reward.
    2. As discussed, Casemiro isn't a DLP, while also lacking the athleticism to cover all the space left by these tactics.
If this Man Utd team were a machine, Casemiro would be a worn out cog, that's also been fitted into the wrong area. A compounding of problems.
    3. For such a high-risk tactic, our attackers are horribly inefficient. If we're not consistently generating high XG chances, then attacking with 6 players is pointless. We're just inviting turn-overs and overloads against our defence.
Also, from an injury perspective, turning every match into a basketball game is both physically and mentally shattering for the players.
    4. Too many players forward, too few passing options.
If half of our team are being told to run forward into space - in service of a vertical passing style - then we're also massively limiting passing options in the build up.
I don't believe you can control games with fast, transitional football. Especially not with our attackers, who aren't clinical goal contributors.
In summary, it's early enough in the season for Ten Hag to swallow his pride and pursue a tactical rethink. Combine that with getting his best team on the pitch, and I think we'll see big improvements.

Neville then tries to compare it to how Liverpool had six months to find a new manager....they did but only because their current manager had told them he was leaving. What I would say is, if you feel the Glazers were contributing to the downfall of the club and the club was managed poorly from top to bottom, then you have to take the view that with Ineos, assuming they’ve made the correct changes, this is the manager’s first season where he’s come close to receding what he asked for and therefore, he needs a few months before he’s fully judged. Now, if you feel that the club ownership has had no impact on the football side of things, then obviously you’ll feel differently about the manager.

People talk a lot about standards. Standards have dropped, you can't keep using United's past glory to berate the current first team and manager. We finished 8th last season with a GD of -1, why did everyone think we were going to suddenly be Top 4 challengers? A no. 6 isn't going to suddenly propel us into a competitive position in this league. I think it is natural to be concerened after 3 years when we're still looking at performances like that but we've also only had one window with INEOS in charge and the signings are already better. I actually think patience is required, but I do expect the manager to be sacked and us have to go through another new manager cycle. This will not help the club either - Van Gaal, Mourinho, Ole, Ten Hag. Embarrasing.

Thats because most youtube viewers weren't even born when Fergie was about to be sacked. They assume that we are supposed to be top four every year. There is no divine right for this, look at Liverpool in the 80's and then look where they were after 1992....they were unbeatable in the 80's (pretty much) and then a laughing stock in the 90's. Something that worries me with Ten Hag are his substitutions and instructions. Brought home when Zirkzee came on 2nd half in the Fulham game. Zirkzee was actually asking his team mates where to stand when Utd got a corner in front of the Stretford End. WTF? Let’s also address Rashford- two crosses in the Liverpool game does not make a good performance. He was lazy, not pressing properly off the ball in attack - to the extent that Zirkzee noticed and strayed out of position over to the left to cover for him, and was seen jogging back when Liverpool were attacking. Bench him NOW.

This is the best discussion about these problems I've watched. Good work lads. What were seeing is Ten Hags way of playing and it's just not working, and he seems too stubborn to now try and stop any of the re-occuring problems. And that infact he's now hanging players out to dry with his directions and tactics (leaving casimero on his own, and telling him to go long). I feel like every game I've watched I've screamed as Casimero has played a ball out like he did Sunday, he just really caught out

The point about Slot inheriting a good side that finished third and Ten Hag inheriting a poor side that finished 7th, is totally irrelevant when considering what Carragher said. Carragher wasn’t talking about how good or bad United are under Ten Hag. He’s pointing out that Ten Hag is in his third season & still, nobody knows what United’s football style or identity is. Whereas Slot’s style of play is clear after three games. THAT is the point Carragher was making and he’s right.

Not sure why Ten Haag fans find it so hard to address how Ten Haag has failed to impress his style on United as much as other managers do. Ange did it with Spurs with a poor squad he inherited which sold Kane. Slot has done it with no new signings in the first XI. You can hide behind injuries, the glazers or whatever all you like but imposing a style of play is a core principle for a manager/coach, regardless of players. Buying more players just enables the style to yield more successful results, it should still be evident on the eye however which with ETH,it isnt

This idea that EtH has a gung-ho style is mad to me. His favoured tactic is noticeably "one-sided attack, opposite side covers in transition" - simple.
Rashford got all his goals because Antony was so good at forcing teams to defend lopsided and we very quickly switched to Rashford who had his ideal situation: 1 on 1 and the defender is on the back foot (also why Garnacho looked so good that season).
The problem has been that Antony didn't provide enough threat himself when we started down Rashford's flank, and Rashford doesn't transition properly when it is lost on the right flank.
Things have changed, somewhat, in that we now have the spine to build through the middle so we are developing a 3 pronged attack instead of the present single pronged attack. HOWEVER, players are adapting slowly so we are seeing horrific shit repeatedly. That's all. It's not gung-ho, it's patient, but players being slow on uptake is causing massive blunders that are just growing pains

If ETH doesn’t play Casemiro, fans will complain we have a 300k player sat on the bench in place of Collyer/Eriksen.
If he plays Casemiro and sets up more defensively, fans will complain the style of play is negative and too defensive.
The manager hasn’t been good enough, there are loads of problems and I’m sick of him calling on the ‘trophies’ excuse - but in fairness how can he win with the fan base? Liverpool have a FAR better squad, built over years and years with Klopp. 60 mins into the game, Gakpo and Nunez are warming up and we turn to the bench to see Antony and a couple of academy players.

It's getting harder to watch this show by the year, which is why I only bother after a major loss, really. (So about 10 times a season right now).
The delusion and pettyness is insane. Take Joe, bringing up Klopp's press conferences as a defence for Ten Hag. Difference is, Klopp galvanised and entire fanbase, was actually successful, and was just doing what Fergie used to do - say something outrageous to put the media pressure on him after a loss rather than his players. It's good management.
ten Hag just waffles delusional nonsense. Massive difference.

I just want ETH & Rene Hake to go Hake has only just come in so i cant blame him but he was brought in by ETH so he'll go with ETH. RVN knows the club but should either stay as an assistant or leave...i dont think trying RVN as manager will work not with the group of players here......
Wanting ETH out, isnt down to 3 games...its down to nearly 18months....
I know the players have been poor...they all need to be accountable...but ETHs 4231, 424, 316, 433 none of what he has tried to coach over 2yrs....just does not even look remotely like its there....its so disjointed...the gaps between defence, mid & attack are huge, running off the ball is non existent, tracking back is inconsistent, no crosses into the box, no trying to win 2nd balls, goal scoring is practically non existent.... the midfield might as well not be there & the players look drained even after they had 1 week to train for Liverpool.......HOW CAN THIS BE 2YRS IN????

Not having any defence of Ten Hag anymore. Carragher was spot on. It's beyond a joke now. There's no more mitigations. Since Wolves at home on the opening day of last season, it's been the EXACT same every game. Tactics are fundamentally flawed, easy to play through, easy to play against, confidence is shot, every player playing poorly.
The only time we've ever played half decent, is in one-off cup games where Ten Hag has tweaked tactics to win that game only. He's a cup manager at best. Bar a toenail offside against Coventry, he'd be out of a job. The ownership didn't want to keep him, and spoke to other candidates. My hunch is Tuchel's demands were a little too much and they decided to stick rather than twist. But they need to admit their mistake, and change.

I think people underestimate how thin our squad is. Defence is top 4 standard on paper, midfield has no depth in quality after Ugarte Mainoo and Bruno and our attack has the potential to be good in a couple of years, but I could currently name 7 or 8 better forward lines in the league. We probably have the 6th/5th best team in the league on paper, so anything above that is a bonus for me. That said, the lack of chances we create is very worrying at this point. We seem slightly more structured this season in our play, but the lack of chance creation is by far the most worrying thing about ETHs set up ATM. We play a 4-2-4 high intensity for 20 mins then we look tired and teams still cut through us with ease (although admittedly not as much as last season). We look like a bottom half team at the moment. This needs to improve FAST or its curtains for ETH as we should be playing better than this after 2 years, despite all the obstacles he faced.
