@UCNo0ZcBcAmycm4F3of7gUPg I still remember hearing "Hang On To Your Love" when I was in my early 20's. I ran out and bought The "Album". She was the biggest Jazz Sensation since Billie Holiday and she won The Grammy for Best New Artist. In future years alot of UK Artists have had Band Members like these Fellows. The Late Sharon Jones, James Hunter and even Girls Aloud when they did "The Promise."
I was a teenager when Sade was popular, always loved her elegant and natural poise. Like a goddess. The jazz elements in her voice, the warm tone, the floating gorgeousness of sound when she sings. A+++. That is natural talent, not learned, not studio created. Not many people realize that Sade is Nigerian and moved to the UK as a child. She is fabulous.
Sade was the soundtrack of my younger days....It's magnificent.....No other band comes remotely close....Finally saw her in concert many years ago...she is the prettiest female of the human species....STUNNING!!!! from a white southern boy.
Sade has so many great songs,They all are beautiful. I even like 'Jezabel".Her voice is mesmarizing, sooooo soothing. When she performs ,barefoot and dances effortlessly across the stage you want her to go on forever.
I used to dj in a tiny little coffee house/nightclub and I used to come in early and play warm up for fun ahead of my scheduled sets. Once I played Kiss of Life and this young woman came on the dark empty dance floor and danced seductively for the entire song. I put the lights on for her. For me, one of those unforgettable human moments.
Sade is on a different level, check out ‘Please send me someone to love’, ‘Your love is king’, ‘Is it a crime’, ‘No ordinary love’, ‘Kiss of life’ and ‘By your side’ 👍🏻
She's not only good singer, got to check out this song her performing on stage 2011 "sweetest taboo" she was dancing around barefoot girl got it going on, she's half Nigerian half english online said she's a gma this year from her son.
You can’t get enough Sade and neither can I. Excellent reaction to this classic. I’ve seen her perform live twice in Nashville years ago. She in a class all her own. ❤
Sade is one of the most idiosyncratic and instantly recognisable singers of recent times. A shout out and CONGRATULATIONS for another, Joan Amratrading, the Caribbean diva of blues who was honoured by the Queen this week. She was a mentor of Sade's.
Hi from the UK, Sade was one of the beautiful, people of that era" this is from a lady who appreciates that we are all not beautiful, " and her voice so smooth and sexy, 🤩🤩🤩🤩 .
I was a teenager when Sade came out with this song and I remember how she was criticised for her style of singing. People would say that it wasn't melodic enough and hardly lived up to the standard of the music surrounding her voice. She kept pointing out how difficult it was to sing in such a reduced way and that there was a lot of art to it. From your take on her music I can see that times really have changed, particularly for female singers as they are no longer expected to sound girlie girlie. They can if they want to, but they can also be very grown up and mature in their way of singing these days. I loved Sade's voice as a teenager because it was so different and I love it now because it's so refined and free of all stereotypical singing. It just is. And she will always be - Sade. One of a kind.
The videos for Smooth Operator, Sweetest Taboo and Is it a Crime are a continuing saga so that is why the same guy is in all three videos. You have to check out Is it a Crime next to get the whole story, plus the song is a musical masterpiece.
I remember seeing this video at around nine years old...as soon as I saw her shimmy across the floor in those jeans I fell in love forever... She is still my number one... I have yet to see another woman with her style and class and voice...that combo is deadly.
Her music is called "smooth jazz" that's why you don't hear it on a lot a radio stations. You will also never hear another voice like hers, it is one of a kind and instantly recognizable. So you know she's probably about 60 yrs old now and takes very long breaks between making music. She's been married twice but divorced twice too. If you like older women you might have a chance.
Sade took the world by storm with her first hit record. I remember watching it on MTV (when MTV really WAS MTV back in the day). Wow! Her style and voice was unlike anything we had heard before and she became an instant smash star! So many good memories. Wonderful memories. Very happy you have found Sade.
Jay , Sade has one of those voices like velvet , she can make even a rainy day have sunshine ... loved her songs since the 80’s .. for a treat check out the live version from Sam Diego of this song , I promise you will not be disappointed
First learned of Sade from movie Blame it on Rio, which is a must watch...anyways she sings Smooth Operator in one scene and I immediately loved her voice.
Jay, this was one of the few top favorite songs when I was high school in the 80s and I was so attracted to Sade. This song and video will never get old to me. It’s timeless!
I love Sade n her catchy sultry smooth jazzy love skngs..lolzz i was a kid in 1984 & i first heard hrr No Ordinary love single then thid onr..lol i llve tsboo..hahahaha
Great reaction for one of the best female singers ever! More of her songs to checkout are “Cherish the Day”, “Hang on to Your Love”, “Never as Good as the First Time” and “Maureen”, which is a musical tribute to a friend of hers who died. Sounds sad but she does it so tastefully it makes a great tribute to her.
keep up the great reactions brother!.sade cherish the day or is it a crime are a must in her body of work.one classy lady, which comes through in her classy music as well.she is unique been listening to her since 1984 still never tire.
brotha i've been in love with Sade for years (like 25) and it made me laugh and smile your reaction at the very beginning. the rain comes in, she hits a few notes and all the sudden YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS! Momma is home and she is in TOTAL control, yes lawd. nice video, thank you man.
It’s really nice to see young peeps watching songs from back in the day. When I am watching with you it’s almost like seeing / hearing it for the first time. Sade was such a part of the 80s music scene and her voice is timeless.. this song released in late 1985, says everything about her, I’m glad you picked up on the jazz / pop influences.. she’s was in a class of her own. Thnx For posting.
They were a couple and she has albums full of songs provoked by her experiences. I have loved her from the ver beginning in London where I grew up. Thanks for your reviews I love your positive energy for great music!
I watched Sade and her band in concert in Sydney. Stripped bare stage, just super talented musicians and the soulful sultry voice of Sade - zero fills. Entranced the whole time.
Sade and Me'shell Ndgeocello are musicians, not just singers. Sade made some fantastic business decisions and brings out albums every decade or so, which keeps the public wanting more. I've been following her since the 80s. She and Me'shell are my two favourite artists.
You would enjoy watching her concert videos, especially Sade - Lovers Live. I have the DVD and love watching it over and over again. I love watching her interaction with her band. She has the most subtle dance moves that are so cool to watch.
Love, love, love, her!!! Nothing or No one compares!!! And she's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! She's a mood by herself!!! Would be a all time high to see her live in concert!!!
Her backup group is called “Sweetback” and they have released a few albums of their own with various artists doing some of the vocals. Worth checking out. Really showcases their talent!!
I have always said if I could look and sing like anyone it would be her. The good news is she has a HUGE body of work and you literally can't find a bad one or even a "just okay" one! Only thing is, my personal preference is to always watch her live. If you think these official videos are sexy, well honestly nothing is as sexy as seeing her live. But again, you can't go wrong whichever way you chose! She has been my girl crush forever!
I'm curious why you couldn't stand her before? Funny how some artists are perceived differently from person to person. I've loved her and her band since I first heard them in the early 80's. Have seen her live a few times and she's amazing.
@@nickywarren8002 I can see that as our tastes in a lot of things change as we get older. I would suggest checking out more of her work, especially some live concerts. She and her band are so tight live. I've seen a lot of concerts and I'd put them right at the top.

That music is everything!!! She has that sultry voice - makes you feel it!!! I see you movin and grooving- l love it😊😊😊 React to "By Your Side". I know you'll like😁!!! Great reaction!!!
I remember exactly where i was the first time i heard her. 1984, working in a hospital warehouse and smooth operator came on the radio. We all stopped working. We never heard anything like it. 👍
Sade operates in a lane all by herself........and absolutely owns it.
Well put ....
That's the truth!!
That's so true
💯.
Sade= Class act,,,she could teach a lot of these young "singers" how to do things right...her music is timeless
Yeah she could teach them how to sing!
Gotta hear "Is it a crime" to get her vocal range. Such a good song.
Is it a Crime is my favorite Sade song....so incredible
I agree!!!!!
The live version too
The live versionnn
You're exactly right...but this is pure "smooveness" 😉😎
A song that’s impossible not too like. Sade does her thing, and does it brilliantly.

Nicely said! 👍👍👍💖
YASSSS! You nailed it!!
She's like the female Marvin Gaye = Sexy mood music.
Excellent description!!! 👍👍👍💖💖
she is the female barry white lol, i wonder how many babies have been made listening to her music lol

Same here.
the image of sade singing behind the window while it rains is one of the most iconic images of the 80s
Oh you forgot her photo where she's resting her face on her hand with leather glove. That one decorated the wall of hair saloon all over the world.
@@arapaimagold8088 nice one
She is absolutely beautiful as a singer and as a person. Always have loved Sade
We all are lost in her voice. The same main musicians have been with her from the start and they are still playing occasionally. World class
amazing choice! She's so smooooth... we grew up listening to her at midnight in the 80's
She’s amazing!
There’s no one like her. There is a uniqueness to her style.
It never gets old.

Sade has so many great songs,They all are beautiful.
I even like 'Jezabel".Her voice is mesmarizing, sooooo soothing.
When she performs ,barefoot and dances effortlessly across the stage you want her to go on forever.
Jezebel is one of the saddest songs ever, but still utterly beautiful.
Barefoot is sexy!
Next should be "Is it a crime", "Your love is king" and "Love is stronger than pride".
Sade ...always a class of her own ❤
Sade - Is it a crime. How can vocals be so powerful yet so silky smooth? My fave.😀
I played her cassette tapes constantly in high school then played her CDs constantly now I listen to her constantly streaming😄❤
She is pure class, pure talent - no wonder JayVee is reacting like that. I think it's love! ; )
“Kiss of Life” is one of my favorites by her. Her voice is just so smooth

Anything Sade sings sounds amazing, she's such a beauty!
Her music during the 80's...... a chilled dark club, whisky and champagne, cigars, that jazz atmosphere.
Loved it....
"Sharday" or Sade is magnetic smooth jazz. Her live videos are amazing. "Paradise " "No Ordinary Love" live . Incredible
The "Is it a crime" video directly follows this, basically telling the rest, more wretched part of the story.
Sade is on a different level, check out ‘Please send me someone to love’, ‘Your love is king’, ‘Is it a crime’, ‘No ordinary love’, ‘Kiss of life’ and ‘By your side’ 👍🏻
I hope you do her song “Paradise” it completely takes you away...magical. Instantly transports you to the beach at sunset far, far away. :)
