I lived in beautiful Carmel for several years in the ‘80’s as a working single mom. It was a friendly, sweet village. I’d like to see more of the remodels on the older homes retain some artsy/ Old World European charm that has always been the town’s hallmark. The climate can be quite damp and bone chilling, especially near the water, ( Carmelo) Homes need cheerful warmth and coziness.

Too bad there is no 2nd floor. The View would be soooo awesome.

Haha. Carmel by the Sea. Hahaha. It’s an Ocean and the home doesn’t even have an ocean view. It is tightly wedged between two neighbors. But at least it appeared to have more square footage than the last two Carmel homes I had looked at. The landscaping is gorgeous. Too bad it is so close to the neighbors, has no view of the Ocean and is located in a community where the land is steep and not easily walkable.

@Lea Fisher thank you Lea. I didn’t mean to totally dis the place. Everyone has different standards. I’m sure the home is perfect for the new homeowners. I live in the Midwest and homes need to be perfect in order to sell in plush neighborhoods. Some can sell as fixer uppers, or if the price is dropped to reflect the work that still needs to be done, but those homes are usually purchased by builder who then fix it up and sell it for top dollar. That way the neighbors homes don’t loose their property values. We in the Midwest most often value land space and don’t necessarily care to live in a home that is built so close to a neighbor’s home. Especially million dollar properties. Anyway, that is part of my reasoning for critiquing the Carmel home. It is interesting to me what is important to different people in different areas.

This is what you get when you choose to live in a highly desirable ocean close town in California. Don’t like it, then go somewhere else! I live in a similar sister town in Southern California and we deal with the same issues. Wouldn’t trade it for the world!
