Besides a legend and a pioneer, he is a very nice guy and a good person. I remember when I knew him he told me that besides music, he was doing some stand up comedy in LA. And that night he played a set that blew the roof off, so good.

Great artist, I've always been a big fan. I love how characteristic Kenny Larkin's voice is. Apart from the big club tracks, he can make such pretty music too, like Amethyst, where it's all for the love of the cosmic electric tone - like Derrick May's timeless track 'Icon'. I think you can hear some of Larkin's particular style come through a bit in some great soulful techno artists that followed him, like Patrice Scott and EP's like Motions. Good interview too, I like how respectful he was, but without fawning, and just got out of the way transparently - like clean recording channel :) I get his point, but there are classically trained musicians that make great techno, people like Matthew Dekay. But like he said, it needs to be approached as an artist rather than a trained musician. Modern 'classical' musician training is a lot more artistic, broadly based and culturally aware than it used to be. And, Matthew's approach is more similar to Larkin's than different, loves the sounds and hands on playable technology. And he plays everything in live, by feel, in takes - Lost in a Moment isn't a million miles away from Larkin, especially in vibe, timbres, spaciousness and cosmic outlook.

Thanks Larkins for emphasizing that you go where your music takes you.
On a spiritual feel. That's the meaning of speaking in tongue or expressing in Feel. They say that we have the Power to speak things in existence.
However, expressing things in existence through your music is important brother.
You have the key too your existence in this Vast Geometric Space we call the Universe.
Continue to do what you do.
    It's Aewsome
    Respectfully
P.S Your music creates a Powerful Experience!!
    Thank you

Lately it seems like people have started taking inspiration from other genres again. Mixing up jungle, techno, trance and house at least. Maybe inspired by the 90's rave days. The 90's is sort of a trend at the moment. Has been the last 5 years. Also in terms of fashion.

I love Kenny's music and stance on production, but his comment about how if someone who's classically trained switches to electronic music/dance music it would be a weird experience or sound just isn't true. Many electronic artists are classically trained and perform on acoustic instruments. Music theory is the foundation of all music - it helps you regardless of what style or genre you're composing.

Love listening to this guy. First track I heard from Kenny was his Yennek moniker track "Dancing Tides".

What a warm, harmonically inclined tune, it's how it is with his music. Always looked at his style being more "house" but these styles labeling change fast over time. Detroit techno sounds very different from the tresor/Drum Code style, but are both "techno" because the creators are using that lexicon.

"Allot fo crappy sounding dance music". I agree! All sounding the same and its a copy of someone else sound or noise. Main issue with the commercialization of it.
