    The A7s3 produces an incredible image. But as with any camera, you have to know what you're doing, especially with ISO's. Regardless of what anyone says online, the best thing to do is to practice what exposure settings work best for your flow. My biggest frustration with the camera is the firmware support from Sony. Other than that, this camera has aged well. I'm excited to see what they do with the next iteration.

      We’re finally getting a firmware update in march hopefully which is supposed to be Sonys apology. 🤞 it’s worth it. Because of that, it probably means the next version will be a little bit off on the timeline meaning maybe a next year launch

    Idk… Gerald Undone got 12.8-13 stops of dynamic range on the A7S III and 12.2-12.4 stops on the Z8, yet the Z8 will shoot RAW 4K and 8K internally, a pipe dream for the A7S III. Plus it’s at the top for photography.

    • @Marcus_Visbal
      @Marcus_Visbal  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Internal raw will be coming to all manufacturers soon enough, but honestly, I’m generally using a monitor to shoot anyways. When I need I’ll shoot raw with the ninja v but raw really isn’t required for most projects. If you have a commercial shoot and need raw, you’ll most likely be using an fx6 or above or a red. For the average run and gun, the all internal does just fine

      The a7siii definitely changed a lot of things for me and was the first camera that made look at a camera and ask how can I make the image better. Once I learned more about it, how I can use lighting with that knowledge, I grew a lot and definitely felt more comfortable charging more/not feeling limited with what I can make

    Since I didn't already have an A7SIII I bought an FX3 since I was OK with going without an EVF. When you said the FX3 doesn't have a mechanical shutter, I felt like an idiot because the shutter sounds legit and I could swear I felt a shutter shock. Pulled out my camera, snapped a photo without the lens or cap on it, sure enough, the mechanical shutter swung across the sensor 🤷‍♀

    Certainly the a7S III is great camera, and even though I am (now) a Panasonic shooter, I keep my eyes out for any crazy good deals on a used a7S III. However, some things drive me crazy about it, like, since it is mostly geared toward video (or hybrid shooters), why not have waveforms built in? And better IBIS? And why no timecode input? And no phantom power to mics? Don't get me wrong here: I have just as many complaints about Panasonic cameras (if not more). Hopefully the a7S IV will have a tilting EVF (since it is such a shame to have such a good EVF, and then not have it tilt), and be able to shoot 6K, and have better IBIS so one doesn't have to buy Catalyst, and personally I would like to see the second native ISO for V-LOG at ISO 6,400 because I literally have NEVER shot anything at 12,800 (hey, if Sony can put in a TRIPLE native ISO, even better!!!)

    • @Marcus_Visbal
      @Marcus_Visbal  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I get that! The stabilization becomes way better when you’re pairing the sony body with a Sony lens(of course, they want more of your money lol) for waveform, I tend to lean to using external monitors these days or the monitor plus app on my phone so I can use waveform and false color. Basically, if my phone is on me, I can use it to expose, though I agree, it does need waveform and I really would love built in false color too. The Sony can provide phantom power, but requires the K3M adapter to do it(they want more money from you again lol) the evf was definitely wasted on this camera. For the ISO of 12,800, I actually shoot a lot of real estate and really do like the placement. If I need the exposure some where around 6-10k iso, I’ll bump up to 12,800 and stop down the aperture which isn’t the best work around but it helps. I agree, if they had a triple native iso, I would love that. The sonys are great but to maximize them, you have to spend even more money. I think Sony has been catching a lot of flack for it and the internet is starting to lean towards to Lumix now for the average content creator. I think Sony has finally taken notice which why the firmware update is coming to the A1 and the A7SIII but there’s still a lot of work to do. I think once it comes out, creators will be able to determine if Sony is serious about being customer centric again or if their money grabs are going to keep persisting. If they keep doing the money grabs, I think the S1X from Lumix will be a massive turning point for creators and they’ll start switching

    What about the s5iix?

    • @Marcus_Visbal
      @Marcus_Visbal  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The S5iix is more comparable to an A7IV. The rolling shutter is similiar to the A7IV, the 4k 60 crop, the x has access to braw and prores raw but requires an ssd. The a7siii does raw through atomos. Really, you’re only using raw on higher end professional work so it’s more marketing unless you’re using as a camera on a set. The S5IIx is a good camera, but I’m grabbing Sony for the slog3, the work flow, the 4k 120 virtually no crop, and the lens eco system. L mount alliance is good but the amount just has a ridiculous amount of 3rd part options with amazing native glass. Also, the autofocus just doesn’t compare in real life situations. The Sonys are just tack sharp and never pulse in my 4 years experience(came from canon). I may swap out my a7IV for an s5iix but not my a7siii. I’d consider it if the S1H ii(s1x potentially) had better af than the S5II/x but idk if lumix will be able to catch up. Lumix does have built in features for video but honestly, if im using a waveform, I’d like it on an external monitor. And with the monitor+ app on my phone, when I connect it, I get false color anyways.
      I will say, if I switch from Sony, it would be to lumix. But now that Sony is getting serious about the firmware updates, and the a7siii is now rumored to have features that are a first in the alpha line up, I’ll most likely stick with Sony

    • @d2kinu874
      @d2kinu874 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Marcus_Visbal I understand that and you are correct in many aspects of the auto focus. The camera I use right now is the zve10 and I like it other than the fact that it has a crop sensor. One of the biggest features in the Lumix that I look at is the active cooling and the open gate. I have a tech channel that I would love to make vertical content for without having to reshoot as well as church clients wanting to start promoting themselves on social media platforms and I believe it would be easier for deliverables. Also there is the price point. 2200 for the body or 2600 with the kit and a 50mm f/1.8 on the lumix to me is a better deal than the body of the a7s3 starting at 2800-3200. How do you justify that?

    • @Marcus_Visbal
      @Marcus_Visbal  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@d2kinu874 as far as cooling, I have never had the a7siii over heat due to the heat sync built in. Tons of tests have been done on it and you can get it to over heat in the sun or heating box. As far as open gate, it’s undeniable that Sony has dropped the ball on that. I just tend to shoot a little wider and I can punch in a little bit in post for horizontal if needed and then reframe accordingly for vertical. Open gate is nice and is one of the reasons I’d switch but it’s not enough to make me switch. Also, though unlikely, trusted Sony leakers have said the a7siii is receiving new features that no other Sony camera has at the moment and with the next fx3/6 firmware announced, I don’t think it’s outside the possibility for Sony to add it in. One things for sure, next gen’s are going to have open gate and I’d like to be in the song eco system at that point. But all in all, Sony has an incredibly reliable system that I myself have beaten the shit out of and they keep chugging. And the auto focus is incredible so I don’t have to think too much about it. For those reasons, I trust Sony the most. I don’t think the Lumix series is bad, I just don’t trust the af enough to switch. I’d say lumix is playing their cards well and getting influencers on board like Sony did and it’s working. Both are great cameras but I’m going to grab my a7siii every time if given a choice

      The S5IIX has issues (this is coming from a Panasonic shooter). If you are in the Panasonic video shooter facebook group, you will find that a lot of shooters prefer the image out of the first generation S-series cameras over the S5II / S5IIX. Maybe Panasonic was right when they said that PDAF degrades the image, as you can clearly see the image quality is worse on the S5 II / S5IIX. But other things are more subjectively bad or good, depending on your needs. Better AF on Sony, vs 6K 24 / 25 / 30p on the Panasonic; 4K full-frame 60p and 120p (slightly cropped) on the Sony, vs the aility to shoot in 4K aps-c mode at 24 / 25 / 30p on the Panasonic if you WANT more range out of your lenses. Lens compatibility between the a7S III and the cinema cameras like FX3 and FX6, versus L-Mount lens compatibility between the S-series cameras and the L-Mount BlackMagic Design Cinema Camera 6K, and some other tradeoffs between the two.
