Going back to the last World Cup, Richie stats wise was no2 in the world across all positions. The fact he’s now a leader in the team is critical to us in the next World Cup - at the same point in his career he’s every bit as good as Carter.

I think that Rich Mo'unga will get the start at 10. It'd bw wise to let him have the opportunity to further bed-in to starting as a Test 10. His performance against the Springbok at Ellis qualifies him. He played outstandingly well, so he deserves the start. Keep the engine purring.
Anyone focusing on the single intercept Richie gave away last weekend, is just betraying a huge bias. It was an early mistake that he was instrumental in defusing (held Lukanyo Am up on the try line). Had he then started playing conservatively, gun-shy of throwing difficult passes for fear of another intercept, it would have indeed been a bad game. Instead he put in an incredible shift, best 10 performance in test season so far for my money. Distributed well, changed his approach often enough to keep the Boks guessing, strategic kicking was bang on, and topped it off with phenomenal goalkicking. It wasn't his best performance in black, but it was probably his most important to this point. Any rugby fan knows and appreciates the brilliance of Beauden Barrett, but smart rugby fans recognize he plays like a fullback out of position when in the 10 jersey.
