You really can't compare a Civic with a Prius V, they're not the same type of vehicle. I traded in my RAV4 for the V and it has the same amount of interior space minus the third row seats. My fuel savings doubled.
The EV mode for "Electric Vehicle" defaults to EV at every stop (traffic light, stop signs, etc.) but it will run in EV for 5 min. or so in bumper-to-bumper /slower traffic on level and downhill terrain. After 5 min. the gas kicks in until the battery is regenerated enough for EV to default again. That is why hybrids are so great on fuel versus gas-only vehicles.
Actually, he is correct. The Prius V in the video is the Prius V Five, it costs more than the Prius V Two or Three. The Prius V Two would be around $27,000.
jmaioran that guy probably does mostly highway driving, our rental 2012 civic lx got 49.7 mpg on a 38mile highway trip last year, a 40+ mpg avg is very possible in that car depending on your driving route...the prius makes a ton more sense in the city, we saw 18mpg in deep city driving in the same civic
I love how you talk about the car step by step, thanks so much I'm definitely buying one this weekend.
@J. Pastor-Anakeneto
Post a review video, I wanna see it :) congrats!

Just bought this car in Ca... trying to set up dash. Love the car..
180,000 miles and going strong. Love it. 38.7 mpg every time….
The little (E)s are power generated by regenerative braking building up battery power, on the consumption screen.
Very nice. Looking at getting a used one. Very helpful.
I have a Prius V. Civic might get 40+ on the highway. What does it get around town? I get 45 around town and 42 on the highway....
THe Prius does not default to Eco mode.- it is the Normal Mode. The Eco is even slower and more fuel efficient.

Please take the time to understand your subject before spreading misperceptions about hybrid technology.
I don't see the exhaust pipe
Good review, thanks!
my civic gets 40+ mpg. costs 15000 less. now that buys a lot of fuel
7k less, and it is really 33mpg you get and a very different sized car, more comparable to the prius hatchback which gets 50 mpg.

No way a Civic with a 5 speed got almost 50 unless it was down hill going 45 with the wind pushing you forward
Civic getting almost 50mpg... lol..
What kind of civic is that.. never heard of it.. cause they don't have civics like that.. sorry your lying..
@@gennaro4941 Matthew forgot to mention that the Civic broke down and they pushed it for the last 20 miles. 😂
